The young ranger bit her lip, clearly not liking the idea of going back into the Hive so soon. She had thought it a better idea for her to withdraw for the moment with what she had learned, but the two Hivers looked serious.

"All right," Khari nodded, reluctant. She followed the two back in, hoping she wasn't making a fatal mistake.

When she caught up to the Hiver with the wife, Khari said "My name is Khari. What's yours?" The ranger had wished introductions could be on better circumstances, but there was little choice in it now. "If you intend on going back, we'll need to figure something out. Attacking them head on isn't a good idea. Other people need to know what's going on."

Being locals the Hivers know that time is rarely working for them.

With each passing hour the addiction spreads, more people are abducted and perhaps turned into an undead mockery of their old selves.

They know they have to act now- and Khari asked how she can help. Has she really expected a different answer?

"Tag is Eman. Well met.", the first says and then the other one adds "Call me Durwin. My wife is called Quesea."

Obviously they feel a lot more comfortable in the Hive than outside of it, they move quickly through the crowd and the dirty, desolate streets.

"Other people? Why? Noone will care anyway. All they do is talk and feeling all smug and important. Talking won't solve this."

"Factioneers.", the first one adds and his voice shows well that he has not much love for those but then continues, glancing at Khari.

"Can you take on that berk that followed us? Or find their hideouts? Perhaps we can make one of them talk."

"I think so," Khari replied, "And I can track them if the streets are dirty enough." The young ranger followed the two Hivers. "I got a good look at her too."

Durwin smiles at her. "Thank you. I can lead you to where my wife was abducted.. perhaps you find a trail to follow. I know where some of those Putid Hands meet, too."

"What about the Fists of Chaos?", Eman asks. "I read they might be involved too. But noone knows where they hide. I can get a few friends if we need some muscle by the way. We Hivers have to stick together!"

Both have accepted Khari as their leader it seems- now waiting for her decision.

The ranger pondered a moment. She then looked at Durwin. "I want to help your wife as soon as possible, but we're up against far larger numbers. We also need a place to take her because I highly doubt she would come willingly."

Khari then looked at Eman. "So let's get to your friends. From there we can figure out an attack strategy on finding Durwin's wife and sabotaging the Putrid Hand's operation. The Fists of Chaos will have to wait until we are sure they are involved."

The men look at each other and then it is Durwin who speaks first. "I know a secret place, close to the slags. There is a cellar, well hidden, the trapdoor leading to it concealed by an illusion. Found it as a boy.. I think it would be a good base for what we plan. We even have fresh water down there."

Eman nods, then adresses Khari. "If it is alright I'll get my friends. Meet you again at the old cemetary in the Slags."

He does not wait for an answer but runs off while Durwin leads the Ranger to the hideout. Even her senses cannot pierce the ilusion- the trapdoor hidden by what seems to be semi solid debris. A cast iron ladder leads down a small shaft past some holes that one day might hsve been trsps down into a round room, perhaps of 12 feet in diameter. In the middle is a basin full of bubbling water, the light from it enough to bathe the room into glickering, blue light.

There are two chairs and a bedroll, a small table and a stack of blankets- but those fit not in somehow, probably brought to this place just recently.

Khari took a moment to take in the surroundings and noted the items that were out of place. "Did someone live here recently?"

The young ranger then moved over to the basin of bubbling water, examining it without touching. "Anarchic Water? I wonder how it got here."

Khari then went to work setting the table. She set down a number of jars full of herbs and salves, a few rolls of bandages, a mortar and pestle, and a number of other items. When she was satisfied with her set-up, the ranger turned to Durwin. "Detoxing your wife won't be easy, if it's possible. I've not been able to make a suitable anti-toxin, though I have enough materials here to at least help lessen the effects of withdrawal." Khari then looked at the cast iron ladder leading to the surface. "We should meet up with Eman now."

"I come here sometimes. When I want to be alone and read or just when business in the Hive gets heated again. anarchist bombs and hardheads don't care about innocent bystanders. Water Basin was in here when I found this place. You can drink this stuff... tastes a bit funny and tickles the tongue but won't kill you. I think."

He watches her setting the things up, then leads her up the ladder again and deeper into the slags. From a nearby trash heap he gets himself a sturdy club of bone, wood and.. teeth then proceeds carefully down the desolate streets, past the burnt husks of the buildings, climbing over debries, ducking under a fallen tower... then they are at the cemetary.

Eman is there already as are sic burly men, armed with clubs, axes and knives.

Khari greeted Eman and the group of men. "I assume you've told your friends what the Putrid Hand has been doing within this ward?"

Khari took note of their crude weapons and lack of discipline. The ranger was by no means familiar with military tactics, but she was a hunter and a fighter. "We don't stand a chance as we are," she said. "We need better weapons, learn to work together. You all know the streets better than most, so there is an advantage. I can get us better weapons, but it will take time."

The ranger knew time was the enemy. The longer they prepared, the more time the Putrid Hand had to cause further damage. They needed to strike somewhere soon.
