Waltham looks back and up at the man on horseback.
"No worries there I am here for the pay not the glory. I'm no Heronite."
As they head on the undergrowth thickens and Has' mount starts to struggle. The bird song gets more distant and the woods fall silent.

"Is this so? Very good. I feel much safer now. Stay sharp, survive and most important keep me safe and there will be more gold coming your way."
As his mount is getting nervous he frowns- mortal beasts are so... so easy to distract. More annoyed than frightened he holds the reins tighter, urging his horse onwards, reaching for the spells he prepared, their magic ready to be called.

The man in armour gives a polite if somewhat cool:
"And you."
They make their way through the woods. The trees thicken and soon the heavy canopy blocks all but the occasional stream of light. Waltham makes his way in front of Has he eyes the bushes and treeline warily.
"You're right it is best to be quick. It will be dark soon. In the day it is just the fiends. I say just as if this is not bad enough. At night other things join them, the living dead diseased corpses that walk like men."

As he calms the horse the source of the creature's distress becomes apparent. There is a popping noise the result of a teleport spell and a gangly twisted figure with long skinny limbs materializes behind Waltham it lunges at him. He lets out a scream but remains on his feet. The shadows cast on the canopy of the trees flicker madly at the flurry of activity, but Hasclaan has no time to see more. He feels two pairs of hands grab him trying to pull him from his horse.

As he is pulled off the horse he quickly lets go of the reins, does not resist that pull, indeed he tries to get away from the frightened beast that served as his mount.
He mumbles a single word, the word slowly turning into a scream, getting louder and louder. But it is not the scream of a frightened creature, nor a cry of pain- it is a hateful, deadly sound- sharp as a knife, filled with rage and the intent to kill, to rip the soul out of whatever hears it.

The scream resounds through the forest, and everything dies. The three figures assaulting them die, Waltham dies, Hasclaan's horse dies, birds flying over head die falling to the floor with a soft thud. The sound resonates and echoes around the woods and Hasclaaan would shudder as he feels the necromancy runs over him, only the fact that the spell is attuned to the caster stops his soul from being torn from his body as well. And then silence. He is alone in the forest surrounded by the dead. He can be sure that if anyone else is in the wood they would have heard the scream from a distance and would now be aware of him or at that something is afoot in that bit of the woods.

He takes a deep breath, inhales the cool air wearing the smile of a man who is quite pleased.
Feeling all this lifes ending, feeling the energies of the spell washing through his body... yes. It feels good.
But this is not the place to relax, not the place to feel safe.
Quickly he checks what attacked him, then he examines the corpses of both the horse and his guide.
Trusting his experience he takes some polished pieces of Onyx from his pocket, formed like long, conical spikes. With a swift movement he thrusts one in the throat of the horse, the demons and also Waltham- and then he starts to chant, touches each of the corpses forehead's again then lifts his hand, his fingers crooking as he slowly clenches his fist.
The corpses twitch violently, the flesh ripping, the skin torn apart as the skeletons inside this bodies force their way out of the fleshy shell, trying to stand, trying to follow the first command of their new master.

Hasclaan would recognize the creatures that attacked him. As one would expect given what he has heard they re demons. Babu to be precise. What is worrying is that the bodies show no signs of melting away, it is as if the demons are native to the plane.. Waltham the trio of babu and the horse lurch to unlife.

The orders the demons to form a defensive ring about him and while Waltham takes up his weapons again he saddles the skeletal horse.
Then he takes a few notes... about that demons, their strange behaviour after their death.
And another note to remind himself to get some nails so he can fix that saddle to that horse and keep it from slipping!
He works quick and with great precision, aware if the danger of staying here too long and after studying the map he mounts his undead horse, orders the other skeletons to guyrd him and continues on the road- urging the creatures onwards with greatest speed.
No longer they are frail, no longer do they need rest or food or ask foolish questions. Almost perfect soldiers and servants they are.. almost.
