After several weeks of intensive testing with Argent's assistance and few more reviewing the results, the viable parameters for any given spellbook are marked down.
Points of this list include among other things:
The absolute limit of 5th circle
Limitations involving utility and support magic
The impracticality of using conjuration spells
The rules and arrays necessary to modify spell use.
Thought it would certainly be plausible to have the spell function differently for each Helpful Compendium prepared, It would make for excessively long preparation times and impractical demonstration. Further more allowing each caster to modify their own book would likely cause wild variance in the circle required to cast it.
He comes to the conclusion that it would be best to set a default array capable of writing itself into a blank tome instead. To this end, he sequesters himself away in the laboratory with a number of reference tomes. Hours turn into days as spells are cross references and compared to determine an appropriate balance of spells for the book to remain useful without becoming useless or unwieldy.

[Any and all additional time that was not spent on his own project or Quinns help, he was using to study various language forms, in particular if anything that looked close to script found on the Mnemur scrolls.
Several attempts to try various options first such as layering multiple copies of the scrolls on top of them, looked through various spells. Then another to rotate the pages by 45 degree angles, then 90, layered on top]

((OOC: I'd like to start with an apology for not posting for some time now. RL got in the way in a fairly major fashion, and I have been unable to respond to research posted here as often as I would have liked.
That being said, all research that has been submitted here, and that I have not EXPLICITLY vetoed on grounds of infeasibility or other concerns, will now be considered, and a final decision will be made and winner announced by the end of April.
Thank you all for your exceptional RP!))
After just shy of two months, the research contest period has elapsed. Servants of Boccob politely escort the various mortal and immortal mages from the Library of Lore after collecting whatever research material those participating wish to turn in.
Those with little in the way of research material or experimental results are permitted a brief period wherein they may make an oral defense of their theory to one of Boccob's servants, which will be considered in lieu of experimental data.
((OOC: Those PCs who have posted here and NOT gotten ANY response from me, may make ONE post after this one, describing the magical theory which their character wished to research and put into effect.))

- Wizard (12), Arcane Scholar (7)
- Lore Rank 32 (22 Base, +1 Wizard's Apprentice, +9 Int Mod), Spellcraft Rank 35 (21 Base, +1 Wizard's Apprentice, +3 Skill Focus, +9 Int Mod) 28 Intelligence (+9).
The Illithid presents it's case to Boccob's elected servant, providing it with an explanation of it's current research and intended outcomes. Various servants provide assistance to the Illithid as it explains that a combination of polymorphic and alteration magic, coupled with inspirations from the practice of fleshcrafting, should yield a magical spell capable of converting a single opponent into something more befitting the caster's purposes. The diagrams seem to indicate the end result would be somewhat random and likely heavily taxing on the victim's mind as their body is forcibly changed into something hideous.
As the explanation continues it mentions that it seems necessary to add an aspect to the spell which shackles the mind of the victim to that of the Wizard responsible for their bodily shift, which would enforce their will to their new ally. The Illithid mentions offhandedly how it ideally it would have liked to research further into the possibility of coupling several spells which severely inhibit the will of the enemy to resist the effects, but it understands that the proposed spell is already quite ambitious.
((As with the last post, single target spell which Polymorphs them to a more appropriate shape, effects them with a Dominate spell, and possibly adds the Confusion effect to make it somewhat random in combat. Think something from John Carpenter's The Thing, but still possessed of a human mind, albeit probably driven insane.))
