The Kaisharga exhaled another blast of icy air, tilting it's skull to listen to the whispers. So akin to the swirling dead of Athas that had once been the only company in a long exile, the voices filled it's dead shell with nostalgia....but this was no time to reminisce. The staff of Balpheron popping into being in it's skeletal clutches, the Vizier passed through the swirling gate.

Altair shook his head to clear it. The longer he stood and listened to the indiscernable whispers, the more distracting and unnerving they became. The portal was giving off much the same feeling, he could feel his resolve fading away as he stared at it, being replaced by the horrible memories of the first visit here.
Shutting his eyes, he charged headfirst into the portal before his nerves could get the best of him. He could count on the others if things got real bad, right?

Spell patterns danced and unraveled as tuning out the uneasy presence of the place consumes his focus. Even with all of the preparations and discussion, were they really ready for this? Quinn stared for a long moment into the crackling column of light. Listening to the whispering and thinking back on the state his friends had been in; Those two has escaped once already. Wondering briefly how it might compare to that place, He drew in a deep breath, moving to secure his cane. Finally he plunges into the portal after them.

He could feel his ears tilting forward, straining against their physical bounds in attempt to just catch glimpses of the voices. He had only been slighty aware of his companions having approached behind him, brushing his fingers between the portals light.
Tick- Reminder of sludge and muck in lightless swamp, buried up to his ankles. Acid burning flesh
Tock- Shadows and darkness blend as one. Not a rustle of wind. Mist creeping
Tick- Outline of a tree had moved. Reaching with gnarled branches twisted like decrepit fingers
Tock- Approaching Death having broken reverie, he bolts into the portal at last

On the other side of the portal, they found themselves in a dark narrow hallway. The walls were made up of stacks and stacks of books piled on shelves.
But before they had the chance to examine anything, everyone's eyes were drawn to something waiting at the end of the hallway.
//I need will saves from everyone. :D

Vyse lingered for a moment as the others stepped through, the whispers creeping into his ears like sly tendrils. He was familiar with the voices. Scores of them, all at once, all different tongues. They had compelled him before, dripped honeyed promises, shown scorn when he tried to deny them, but over time he had learned to tune it out. Though now, for a moment, it was just him left to wade through the whispers with his golden eye fixed on the middle-distance.
The bard's keen ear chased frantically to isolate just one voice, purchasing to understand the words of any one of the discordant chorus when suddenly the burden of awareness fell heavy on his mind again. With a slight start, Vyse was back in the here and now. He allowed his gaze to wander back towards the way they'd come for a couple beats, reluctant. Then, the ruddy bard and bowman resigned himself to whatever fate his friends had found through the portal's threshold.
