Norman walks down into the direction given by the Clerk then when they are out of sight he turns to Thist.

"Lets split up. Want to check the ledgers or do you prefer to find the guvner who signed this...", he waves around with the sheet. "...and find out what he knows?"

"Books? I guess that's me too." He skips a moment to catch up with Norman and looks at the sheet in his hand before holding is own hand out. "I'll take the ledgers. You deal with the Guver."

Norman and Pinom make their way down the corridor and to the stairs, they are stopped a number of times and asked for their papers but those are in order and they are allowed on their way. Pinom ascends the stairs and follows the route he was given. Soon her finds himself stepping through a doorway. With his skill and practice with magic he would notice that n doing so he steps into a pocket plane, the construction is good though and it would be very difficult to guess that the room is not part of The City Court. That where it not for its impossible size, and the rows and rows of bookshelves all of which disappear off into the distance as far as the eye can see.

Norman is left at the foot of the stairs, with the name and the rank of the man he is looking for.

John meanwhile converses with Freya, which turns out to be the name of the aide he makes small talk with. She lives in The Clerks Ward noting with a dry humor that so much should be obvious. She moved here from Excelsior not long ago as she thought there was more opportunities here, so far she likes it but a few things can still shock her. She is single, she mentions this twice, and she also has a chicken sandwich for her lunch half of which she shares with John's dog.

Norman adresses the first Aide he finds and he has not to fake the fact he is lost.

"Hello. I was told to find Administrator Sotek's office but I fear I am lost. Can you please point me into the right direction?"

The aide he stops, a human male in his early twenties stops and seems to be trying hard to recall who Sotek is and exactly where his office is in the labyrinth like corridors of The City Court. At length he remembers.

"Down the hall and left around the corner. You have time though he might be a while some berk who lost his pass to the portal ledger is in there kicking off."

"Thank you." Norman was never good with words so he keeps this short, hurrying away in the direction given- but then walking quickly back to the table where he knows John to be.

Trying to get the ranger's attention he waves at him, as if asking the man to join him.

"I should have talked to the Guvner" mumbles Thist. He sighs seeing the rows of books and looks for someone help him track down the ledger he's looking for. He reads to sheet to see what he's looking for and also see if the Guvners have some kind of visible filing system.

John would remain friendly with her, talking of days during the campaigns, bounty hunting and anything else he might deem interesting. While only an average looking man, his repertoire of interesting stories would be vast. He would ensure his dog was gentle with her so that she did not feel threatened. He would probably become genuinely interested in her over the course of the dialog should she show any interest in his stories. He wasnÂ’t much a devotee of the city or law (not chaotic though) and his idea of comfort might differ from hers. Lawful clerks in a modern cityÂ… a long way from a cabin in a lakeside village.

While the conversation carried on he would remain aware of his surroundings and how long the other two were gone. While he would surely pursue this if he could, he still had a job to do.

When he notices Norman, he stands and begins to move in that direction. He commands the dog to remain with Freya.

Norman hurries down the corridors as soon John joined him, explaining as they walk with lowered voice.

"I found the office of the Administrator who wrote this note we found. Also I heard there is a guy with him who lost his pass." He pauses- his poor skills with words showing again.

"Ah.. what I mean is it could be the former owner of the stuff we found. So I suggest you follow that one while I chat with the Guvner."

Quickly he leads them towards the office, wasting no time.

John nods and does as requested. Whether it be in the hurried halls of the public office or outside should his mark depart, he becomes just another face in the crowdÂ… but keeps his target in sight. Should he have to follow his quarry outside (should he leave), he would collect his dog, letting Freya quickly knowÂ… heÂ’ll be returning should his friends or herÂ… be looking for him.
