Fire In The Clerks Ward

The dark elf turned to regard the two Mercykillers. "That's not far from here." Without another word, Charae hurried to the Spirit.

The Necromancer hesitates for a moment but then he follows the others.

If course he stays back, watches- leaves the investigations and especially dealing with the dangerous bits to the others.

As the group rush through The Clerk's ward to the Market ward and the inn. Out side it barricades are being erected and the inn's largely indep populace is turned out into the street grumbling about triad oppression. At the barricades a Harmonium Notary and a Mercykiller Factotum appear to be deep in discussion. It is the Notary that sees them first and being confronted with two triad luminaries, and Hasclaan she simply salutes addressing the group.

"We have evacuated the inn and sealed it off. We have investigators inside conducting a finger tip search and we have detained the only witness."

Hasclaan leaves the two women to deal with the officers- after all he is not here on any official mission.

But he watches- and more importantly he listens to what the Indeps say, especially the merchants surrounding the inn.

He moves closer to the Goblin who always sells this beetles talking with lowered voice:

"What is this all about? Some berks killed? You know what happened? Seen something?"

Slipping a coin into the goblin's hand he makes sure to let the creature know he is not here as an official part of the investigation squad.

Chari salutes the two and immediately asks, "What happened here and I mean details? And also, seclude the eye witness, we will question them next."

The goblin takes the coin of Hasclaan and pockets it.

"Some berk came here and put a hardhead in the dead book. Two mercykillers followed him in and by all accounts he chived the pair of them. Then I saw some kind of fiend fly from the roof."

Chari gets a more official version of events the Notary speaking first.

"A robed man whom we now beleive to be Ashterot entered the building four hours before anit peak Ma'am. Claiming to be delivering a parcel to Measure Donal. When the waitress here.."

She checks her notes.

"...One Laura Pritchit entered the room to deliver the Measure's meal she saw the measure lying on the floor twitching and gasping she ran for help the first people she encountered were the red death."

The Factotum takes over the tale.

"Factotum Tabtitha's squad were here under the Justicar's orders."

He salutes Charae.

"The inn was one of Ashterot's known haunts we thought he would return here and we were right. When we heard of the disturbance of course their team investigated. I am unsure exactly what happened up there but Namer Burrel has been chived with a rapier like blade we think it was made of pandamic slver given the ease it cut through its armour. As for Facotutm Tabitha we have not been able to find her."

He snaps his salute trying to remain calm but it does not take much to see the anger just under his words.

"Thank you my friend.", Hasclaan says to the goblin then looks at the Factotum while he steps back a bit and stretches his neck to get a better look at the upper storeys of the inn.

"Chived from the front or from behind?"

Chari turns to Charae "We need the most skilled Mercykillers tracking Mauric to prevent something like this from happening again. Any apprehensions need to take place with at least five people and you need to stress that he is to be taken alive and unharmed."

Chari then turns back to notary "What condition is Measure Donal in and how sure are you that it is Mauric?" She waits for the answers and also waits for any questions Charae may have as well as she looks around and looks to see if she can locate Hasclaan.

Hasclaan is a bit behind her, to her right- he peeks up at the roof and upper windowns while waiting for an answer to his question.

Charae crossed her arms. "Easier said than done. One of my subordinates is dead and the other is missing. He's becoming more troublesome than I originally thought." The dark elf tapped her chin. "Though, I do have someone in mind to track him. She's a Namer, but very skilled at what she does. Hopefully she is not on an outside assignment."

Charae then turned to face Hasclaan. "Would you happen to have any skill at divination? I want to make recovering the Factotum a high priority. She could have seen something we may need."
