Falheen takes the offered hand, smiling up at the Genasi, his grip sure and surprisingly strong- for an elf. "Thank you." Slipping into his coat again he then picks up the rest of his belongings, slipping the ring into one of his pockets.

" We should be careful about that ring. Right now it is almost impossible to determine if it is just a shiney bauble or has other uses. "

He does not expect her to answer but still does not hesitate to share his thoughts with her, pulling the coat closer around himself as he walks back to their camp- hoping for the warmth and light a proper fire might offer.

An excellent idea, if anything changes that causes you distress in any way about the ring I hope you'll let me know. In the mean time hopefully we have a fire built up, if not I'll get to work on it so we can get you dried off.

*She would wait for a response if any then head up and seeing no fire made, make it up herself. She would then remove all her armor and start the long tedious process of drying and treating her armor. Despite her rough exterior she is surprisingly gentle with the armor taking exceptional care to get into all cracks and crevices.*

So the fire is made, treasures they found gathered, divided and they spend the night warming up, resting and gathering their strengths in peace, taking shifts and turns to guard as not to be out done by perils of the Spire or Outlands, much to their benefit none appears. They may've found some of the paper documents become wet but not irredeemably so as drying them up by the proximity of radiating heat of fire does its work. During the night time there scuttles insects and beasts creating alarming sounds but leaving them in peace though not without a sense of something being watching them.

As the sky lights up gradually when the anti-peak is over creating the phenomenon more commonly known as morning, magic still absent in their present location. The light reveals a very different scenery around them than they may remember, a dry sand desert with risen dunes had taken over large portion of the path they had come and covered it entirely and the group is certain there had been no sandstorm that may have explained it as an natural phenomenon. There was still quite sizable half-ellipse circling around the cave entrance which contained trees and forest could be seen in the far distance.

This leaves them to make the choice of destination and direction... to search rest of the cave and potentially face its looming dangers or to end mission and return to Cage. Most notably the temperature outside was rising quite rapidly long term residents of Cage might find it uncomfortable in long exposure as the Cage climate was relatively chilly in comparison.

There was no sight of the wagon driver or the wagon, or of the sketchbooks Falheen had given the driver previously.

*Taking last watch as stated Chakra would wake the others as she noticed the surrounds were different. Together she would discuss with them the next course of action. Chakra would have a worried expression on her face though would say nothing unless asked directly.*

"What the..." He examines the surroundings, in disbelief "If we werent in a no magic zone, I would bet on this being an illusion spell of epic proportion..." he snorts, as he loosens his robes due to the uncomfortable heat "...a very realistic one, at that..." he chuckles nervously "These things do not happen overnight...even if a sandstorm had hit the area (and it has NOT), this is a centuries-long process...it cannot take place in mere candlemarks..." He looks towards his female companion, the nature expert, for any clue...

She blinks at the light. Her vision still a bit blurry. As she is able to focus she startles visibly.

This can't be...It just can't...

She takes some of the sand in her hand, letting it glide down between her fingers.

This must have taken....

She doesn't finish her words and looks around once more. studieng their newly shaped environment.

Falheen takes his time.
After a short look outside he returns to the cave to wash himself and brush his teeth. Why hurry? Also this bit of daily routine gives him an opportunity to gather his thoughts.
Then -after packing up his belongings- he goes outside, comparing the landscape with the sketch he made after their arrival.

"Too bad my other books are gone. They might have been useful to find out what happened."

After testing his powers again-just to be sure- he goes silent, thinking, then mumbling to himself as he draws a quick sketch of the new surroundings.

"So close to the spire... no illusions, no transmutations, no time magic and certainly no divine power. "

Closing his sketchbook he adresses his companions.

" Theories? "

Pauses, less for a dramatic effect than to gather his thoughts once again.

"The power we felt inside this circlet could have been enough to change the cave's surroundings to what we see now. Lets be honest, an annoyed Druid could do worse. I read about one who through repated castings of Fimbulwinter... err...anyway. If somebody is interested in the consequences of extensive and creative magical landscaping I got a book about it somewhere."

Smiles at whoever still listens to him. If noone is present anymore he smiles to himself. Happens all the time.

"Anyway. What if the circlet's power affected us instead? Like putting a powerful enchantment into our minds or cloud our senses with illusions? Some items do this. I read of the hoard of the powerful but now dead Glrazwigan the Ruby Scaled who used a variant of the Sepia Snake Sigil spell to trap wannabe thieves only to release them after he had his revenge for this affront on those close to them so they.... ah. Not important. I sufggest to get moving and try to reach a gatetown. Or at least a spot we think familiar."

I don't think that is it, did anyone else have disturbing dreams last night?

"This isnt an illusion, nor the work of a mortal. It could be somehow related to the magic unleashed by the Circle...but if it is, then it's an immense phenomenon. We should gather more evidence about it, before formulating theories, because I am not sure of what else has been changed, aside from the landscape..."

She shakes her head slowly

The most obvious would be climate change... be it rapid or long term.

The rapid one may have occurred in a span of year, decade, century or more.
It would have been caused by sequences of strong winds, sand storms to overwhelm the lands or perhaps it is caused by de-forestation and landscape shaping.

The long term one....well, would probably have taken centuries...
In both cases I wonder what happened to us...when time passed...

She lifts herself up and turns towards the cave entrance

Another option can be that...we might not be where we think we are. We might be in a different section of the outlands. Perhaps what happened to us in the caves might have been altered before and is now back to its original form...

She then turns to watch Chakra

Dreams?

she ponders

It could also be just an extraordinary trait of the Outlands. But I do not have enough knowledge of this plane to know for sure how morphic it actually is...

She turns to Chakra again

In this case, we should keep in mind that this can be a divine deity influence.
