The brass figure with clock mechanisms sitting on the metal cocoon was very familiar. It was indeed the construct she met first time in Sigil.

"We met again, tin can." The dry greeting came. Hive does not teach the cutter fancy talk, but action and use of wit. Something she really was putting to use as she waited for reply, to formulate the questions toward the Inevitable.

"We meet again. This time I can be more resposive than at out first meeting.", the creature says, the way it speaks very different to the Modrons the Tief met so far.

"You came for a reason. What is it?"

Yet despite being different it is still a creature of Mechanus. Effeciency first, politeness second.

Several days later.

After short talk with box in his cabinet, tall tiefer opened the door not used by many workers. The violet eyes were drawn to the arc of the portal, which flared up to life as soon as she approached. Patting the place where metallic disk was hidden Raila entered the Mechanus.

Mechanus is stifling.

For the tiefling it is like a heavy weight pressing down on her mind and it takes a few minutes for her to get used to this, to be able to gather her thoughts and more importantly feel her body again.

The cog she is stanging on is perhaps a thousant yards in diameter, the greenish, coglike portal behind her located in the centre of it. She is surrounded by several modrons and local petitioners who are tending to some cargo, in the distance boxes piling ip, behind them cogs, cogs and even more cogs, all moving, changing her surroundings in a slow lawful rythm.

A few inevitables squabble with antlike formians in the distance- probably even this verbal conflict following complicated rules.

One cog above her is overgrown with grass and shrubs and trees and there is a small pond and a few huts- perhaps a settlement from some lawful prime or celestial plane and an upright cog to her left shows a small fortress of dark steel, devilish shapes moving in the narrow alleys between the buildings.

Noone approaches the tiefling, the modrons and petitioners flowing around herlike a river, always busy, always working- like little cogs of their own.

Returning from state of confusion that she suspected would be similar to being Cage-struck, basher looked around, absorbing the view to make it look very familiar to her. As hard as it was, Raila adapted. After about a hour, the scenery was soon no longer crushing her with it's massive gears and logic. And another good thing, if she learned something from the chants, you will never get pickpocket around here to take advantage of the situation.

Looking to the left at familiar shape focused tiefling enough for her to move her body unhindered.

Looking at the nearest modrons, female approaches one of them, catching moment after he unloaded another of the cargo boxes.

"Lady's Grace. I am looking for Inevitable RX-678."

"Understood.", the Quadrone answers, processes the information given but of course it does not understand the question hidden in this words, returning to its task of supervising the workforce made up if pyramids, rectangles and spheres.

But not everything is perfect in mechanus and while she is watching a crate starts to slip off the stack, burying one of the Duodrones beneath it. Most Modrons continue their work bot one of the little spheres is spasming and somehow seems to be folded up until it changes its shape to match the destroyed Duodrone's- and it leads four members of its former caste to put the rebellious crate where it belongs, following some tridrones unspoken orders.

"You said the business with the Time Thief was done, but I got questions. How that creature appeared and why it cannot appear again in anthill?"

"We hunted the arcane cabal that became known as the Eaters of Time down and destroyed them before they could do more damage to the multiverse.

144 Inevitables were sent out on this mission that took a two millennia to complete.

The last three of them fled into Sigil a 578 years ago and they soon were mazed as the Lady became aware of the threat they are. We do not know what happened in the Maze but our investigations lead us to believe that the last Time eater destroyed the other two to prolong his life and also create a gap in the maze which allowed him the recruitment of the agents known as Time Thieves.

A Time Thief gathers the lifetime of living beings, transferring this energy to its master who uses it to empoer its abilities.

With the Eaters gone so are the Thieves and the knowledge to create more."

"So." Woman stretched her arms, as if to relieve stiffness of the Plane from her shoulders. "The other two can be around."

"We hope not. We have no found any remains however and the Inevitable sent out to support the strike has not reported back now.

We await its report but we assume the mission was successful as no more temporal anomalities have been detected."
