The erratic fumbling movements of divine power scavenger made the drow's heart thump in hastened beat. She knew very well what would happen if conflicting spells would be forced in proximity. She did however heard some of the crazy jabbering the inmate shared with her.
This was the secret he was talking about?
Aware of the state of rune, which started to distort in chaotic way, dark elf hastily replied.
"Later. I got questions. You had everything for the Key. Why hide the relics instead of immediate creation of god-key? And what was the point in ... sending your... children... against the paladin?"

"Had to hide it from the others! Had to get rid.... why no cake now? "
He seems a bit disappointed, bends down to pull some straw from his pillow, starts to chew it soft.
"They would even take the cake from me! So they of course take the relics too. But I got them all! Booked them, the locals say. Played them against each other. Did not work well with the churches."
He spits a stalk, starts to restore the runes he just lost in this spectacular, colourful evaporation.
"The Heironite came close. He had the training to stop me. He.... had to be neutralized. And a war between the churches......"
Looks at her, offers her some straw. "You really could make yourself useful. Not letting me do all the work! But he is gone now. Rots in the prison."
"But no war.", he adds- disappointed.

The man was cunning, Sill gave him that grudgingly. The paladin who was arrested and condemned had no idea what he stumbled into.
Priestess looked inside the pouch, at stale pie inside. Not always you get what you need.
She looked at the offered straw, getting a temptation to help with sign, just to see what happens. Almost touching with her fingers, they recoiled in alarm.
"Wait... 'They'? Who?"

He makes an inviting gesture to the glyphs he makes as he sees her move towards them.
"Put the Glyph of 'Exalted Thoughts of Creation' over the 'Rotting Rune of Juiblex' Nightmares'. The 'Second Binding of Memory' here..", he points at another symbol, "...should stabilze them."
His nostrils flare as if he already smells the cake (stale or not- its better than what the Hardheads fed him the last few days) then he remembers she as asked him something and quickly he mutters an answer.
"They, they... betrayers, liers, powerhungry scum. I am the worts! The strongest! Or most lucky she said when I....", he smiles, caught in sweet memory before going on:
" Three we were... or four or....", he pauses and shrugs, hisses annoyed as a bit of straw shifts in his pattern and he quickly fixes the error. ".... cannot remember. I think we unnamed one.. or two. They were like me. We collected the knowledge, the relics...it was our plan which I made to mine, mine all alone."
He smiles happily, claps his hands as he finished another sign on the floor.

"Must be nice."
The pie was taken out, a bit crooked and smudged in black patches of berry juice.
"Here is the cake."
The inquisitive eyes watched over the runemaker when she slid the plate near the bars.
"You know, you could get a lot of pies if you told the lobsters about them."

"Wha... what?" He reaches for the cake, stuffs a bit into his mouth but this time he seems distracted by his other task, paying less attention than usual to this treat.
"Tell them? They would not understand! And if they did I would have to destroy them. This knowledge is mine. Mine."
Finishing the cake, licking his fingers he smiles at the Drow- the smile almost warm , almost honest and when he speaks his voice seems almost sane again.
"I think not even I should know."
The moment passes quicky and he pushes the plate back to her."Was good. More please. And a cup of coffee if you would be so kind."
Quickly he returns to his work, adds two symbols more and Sill sees some of the runes moving, realigning themselves in subtle ways.

For one moment, traveler considered mercy of her own. Through meditation of alignment with Planes and stars, she achieved power to heal not only mortal injuries, but also ailments of body and mind.
But would that bring sanity?
Woman jumped back after finding herself holding out hand towards the man. She did not feel like she released components of spell for it to gather and manifest, but still there was some doubt about that gesture letting Derl identify her as servant of deity.
"I will bring that next time, then." The heels knocked on stone in hurried pace, drow exiting the cells and attemtping to find the guard.

He looks up at her- puzzled- but he stays silent as she leaves, muttering to himself as he starts to finish another glyph.
Somehow he seems oblivious to those moving symbols around him, his mind focused only at a single symbol at a time it seems- has he forgotten about the bogger picture, has the madness, his shattered mind made him blind to this changes?
The dark elf finds the guard not far away from the cell, waiting patiently and in his stoic calm more resembling some statue of red iron and enamel. He turns to greet her, perhaps to ask her something when a shout breaks the silence. the man she just left yelling with greatest fear in his voice:
"No! NO! NOT YOU!"

There was burst of movement mere moments after scream. Black blur of robes moved through passages, back to where Fated came from. Boots boomed in fast succession, legs straining in attempt to make it in time.

Behind her she hears the heave footsteps of the trooper who is following her, calls of Alarm filling the corridors as the barracks are closed down to defend agains- or to contain- whatever might be the reason for this disturbance.
Dashing through the door into the room with the cell she sees the man is gone- as is the cell's floor and all the symbols- the sparse furniture seems to float over a dark, deep chute- whatever is inside somehow eludes the Drow's mind but leaving a sensation of numbness behind.
Then the floor is restored, one tile at a time- everything happening in a single second.
Only a smell of pines stays behind- fresh, aromatic- like a forest in the sun following light rain. And oddly the same smell is being noticed in all of the Barracks, lingering for a few minutes before fading away.
