Gang Activities

The two gangs had no idea what was in store. Big Red One and her minions, the Romper Room Gang, struck in the middle of the night. Both put up little resistance as Red had not only scouted the gangs, their territories and their strengths, but also employed a few devils that owed her favors.

The skirmish was quick as it was brutal. Anyone that fought back was killed on the spot. Those that chose to be realistic and tossed away their weapons are brought into the fold, adding their man power to Red's gang. These are peons and are expendable. The leaders of the two gangs are beheaded in front of their troops. Red can be quite barbaric but a lesson needs to be sent. Mercy is something that the Romper Room Gang does not deal in.

They reuse their own equipment as Red has no intention of supplying them with any of hers.

She leaves one of her well trained and loyal lieutenants to run the two defunct gangs, adding their territory to her own. Each are left several packages of "Blue Crush" to sell within the Hive.

There is a new gang in town in the Hive Ward and it seems this one plays for keeps.

The slums of the Hive lived up to it's name. A colony of winding streets were the poor were overlooked, villainy ran rampant, and puddles of ooze threatened to drag you into their depths - if you didn't get ganked first. It was home, however, at least for one particular soul. Between the Gatehouse, the part-ownership of the Taigh de Cáth, managing the House of Six Fingers and checking in on the Weary Spirit Infirmary with the key that had been left to her, the majority of what could be considered Odette's day-to-day 'life' was spent in that very location.

It didn't take long for the chant to reach her ears from at least one of these sources, if not multiple. "Blue Crush", the newest drug to find it's way onto the streets, was enough to arouse her interest. Whilst the bleaker had little care for how people spent their time or what recreation they chose to persue, it seemed somewhat prudent to inquire after the drug regardless; scent, taste, compound, ingredients, effects. All of these would serve important in diagnosis should potency bring addicts to the Gatehouse or the Infirmary for treatment n future.

So it was that the woman set out into the Hive, dark shades pushed upward upon freckled nose, in attempt to get her hands on the product. Perhaps, if opportunity presented, questions might be asked to save herself the hassle of extended examination and trial ... though she didn't count on it. Through the twisting alleys she ventured, hand never straying far from her weapon as any sensible cutter was want to do in such a place, seeking the first suspicious looking Basher who sized her up and down, or ragged Quipper that looked in need of a few jinx for his knowledge.

It doesn't take long for her to find an area of the Hive Ward that caters to those berks are so inclined to take a sampling of the new drug. As if some of the loungers sense her purpose, they direct her to a run down shack, where a gang has taken up residence to sell the drug in this part of the Hive.

Once she approaches, a swarthy looking individual makes his best pitch. Blue crush is sold for 10 gold a vial and a vial has 5 uses or so, depending on the user.

All the while, the visitor can feel eyes on her back, as if someone is watching her comings and goings.

Odette made no attempt to hide who she was, yet neither did she work to draw attention to herself. She was as she appeared, another scarred basher in the crowd. Hardly fearless, but smart and experienced enough to know that less than scrupulous of the Hive were prone to prey upon the weak; drawn to fear and uncertainty like wolves to the sickest of lambs. Faction badge was worn openly, a better course of action to be known as helping hand than to be assumed a skilter.

Making her way to the shack, she listened quietly to the presentation; arms folding over tunic of dull charcoal and grey. Even with the focus of her attention on the speaker and the vials in hand that coaxed all manner of humanoid to doorstep, verdant hues swept the area in a habitually keen manner. When opportunity arose, however, akin to the others before her, so too did the Bleaker step forward with a handful of jink and indicated three vials with the lift of gloved fingers.

"So, what's it do?" came simple query with the offer of jingled coin.

The seller merely grins when asked what the drugs does but answers the question nonetheless

"It gets a nice buzz lass, nothin like dese otha drugs we have." After taking her gold he hands her three vials. "Give it a try, it ain't nearly as bad as otha drugs we gots". He says, seeing that this is a new user.

Offering a blank look for answer she'd anticipated, Odette could only shake her head in a mild manner; slender digits curling about the vials given. Squinting briefly at the contents, and giving them a small shake at behest of inspection. The glass canisters were shortly after slipped into the folds of garment. A smirk, brief, touched her lips for the mention of other drugs but she spoke nothing on the subject.

"Cheers, cuttah" came the casual response with a nod, the woman stepping out of the way for the next of slum's wingless birds; each one looking to fly in the only way known to holders of limited coin. Turning on heels to make for exit, the pandemonic cogs of thought were already ticking with process; one vial to distill, one vial to trial and study, and one vial for quartermaster's science.

She would feel the eyes following her until she is a good ways away from the street hustlers. If she looks around to see who or what is watching her, she would see that she is being followed by some street thugs, who stop following her once they are satisfied she is merely a curious customer.

Vetch spends some time about the gritty little dives that dot the Hive, picking up chant about the new drug. Amongst those claiming to have used the drug he makes casual inquiries about the effect on the user, expecting to hear some tall tales here and there as some wish to cultivate a clamoring demand, and others simply want to be in on the trend.

Investing some time out and about the familiar streets of the ward, he keeps a keen eye out for any shady peddlers that might be pushing this "Blue Crush." Donning a simple cloth mask to go with his cowl, he slinks about in search of low rungs on the ladder, distributing alone or in small groups.

An unnamed somebody with an invisible smile scouts the Hive for an opportunity to relieve a purchaser of the new drug.
Of course, once she has it, she has every intention of using it on the same person she swipes it from, albeit, without a care for dosage.

It won't take long but some resellers of the drug are found in the more shadiest areas of the Hive. They happily charge Vetch and extra 5 gold per vial but he has the drug in his possession at least.
