Rumors have begun to circulate very quickly about a group of wizards from a planar agency known as The Wayfarers Union that has recently arrived in Sigil. The union is a well known group of specialists who excel in all manner of magical transportation, there ability to cross physical and magical barriers with their clients in tow knows no bounds, indeed if you have somewhere to go they are the ones to get you there.

The small group of union mages is overheard talking to a group of planeswalkers in Khazeets bar and the topic of their discussion is one of wonder and mystery and to some...impossibility. The group of wizards, led by a woman named Amelia Quickstep is searching for a planar gate shrouded in myth and story, a gate so powerful and unique that is is theorized that with this one single gate, a body can get to any plane with its use. Now, its no secret that such a thing, by current knowledge standards is typically impossible, one gate is linked to another gate and it stays that simple.

So naturally, the woman who leads the union wizards in Sigil is met with a great deal of skepticism, so much in fact that she states that after ten years of following in her fathers footsteps and searching for this gate, she finds her resources, personal favors and credability among the magical community all but extinguished.

She is running out of time but not desire or drive to find this mythic gate, despite informing local planeswalkers that in two weeks, the Wayfarers Union will terminate their support of her project and such a precious find could be lost forever.

She is able to tell those who listen a few things.

The first is about a group of mages who, if legend is true, used this gate as an arrival point from around the planes where a super secret congress of mages convened to discuss planar matters every fifty years or so.

The second, is the name her father had for the gate, a name told to her in his stories, "The Void Gate".

The third, and this part might be the very proof this gate might exist, is a VERY old picture of linked, looped and other wise interlocked circles that all connect to one significantly more prominent circle in the middle.

Amazingly, and perhaps a bit frightening is the resemblance to the common model of Planar Cartography that is commonly seen in circulation today, albeit a very older picture.

Amelia Quickstep states she can't pay anyone, she has so very few resources but she promises full credit and due recognition for anyone who finds any information, no matter how trivial that may help her in her search. She informs the planeswalkers she will remain in Sigil for the next week or so and wish's them luck. She can be found at the foul spirit inn.

The search for the Void Gate, a device that could reshape the face of planar transportation as it stands....begins!.

//A quick note to those who know me, and to those i have yet to meet. As with all new stories there come new chapters and new beginnings, and after much thought and consideration, I am abandoning the EM Magic Man name in exchange for a more wonderful fitting name sake so henceforth I shall be known as EM Mystra.

Stepping from the burning ferry with a clank and clatter, the wizard in red and gold pays the dock toll in the Visitor's Quarter of the City of Brass, seemingly quite familiar with her surroundings. Hood drawn to shield her eyes, she stops by the Bird of Paradise to reserve herself a room for a few cycles before making her way down the gleaming, steaming streets to the nearest library and records depository.

Being both ancient and meticulous records keepers, Nefris reasons that the Efreet of the City of Brass might reasonably have some record of either the Void Gate itself or else the conclave of mages associated with it.

She would ensure that the head librarian (or whomever is available most frequently during her visits) is amply supplied in tasteful flattery so as either to gain access to (or discover the price to gain access to) their older records as well as their most recent books on the subject.

In addition, she would consult the Fire Weird that makes its home near the docks, in hopes that its ancient, cryptic clairvoyance might guide her research.

The search for the Void Gate has been little more then background commotion since whispers of the Wayfarers Union presence started drifting around Sigil, and the sightings of the large retinue of translocation mages and their captain Amelia Quickstep were spotty at best.

In the last cycle or two however, planeswalkers everywhere got a rude awakening when what ended up being hundreds of adventurors found themselves plucked from their enviroments by invisible anomalys in the air and deposited in planar hubs around the dimensions. The most known of these locations was the infinite staircase, where a considerable group of people found themselves stranded as the anomalys apparently resulted in the nullification of the stairs...unique properties.

The central landings of the portal hub became isolated as the nearby portals simply vanished and the stairways leading up, down left right and diagonally to other landings and portals appeared to vanish as well. The stranded group on one particular landing who included Amelia Quickstep and a large number of her wayfarer companions quickly came to several realizations most of which had worrying and troublesome implications.

The first, was that this anomaly affected a large number of skilled individuals known as "Gatecrashers. All of the groups that had become stranded included at least one gatecrasher (Amelia Quickstep being the crasher among her peers).

The second, was that the strange situation was not isolated to one plane over the others, as groups of fire genasi, drow, duergar, dwarves...all manner of creatures from many planes found themselves stranded.

The third revelation came from Amelia as she reported that right before she found herself stranded her and her comrades had been in the process of tracking down a man named Haran Ro Byrn, an efreet wizard said to be a couple of steps removed from the grand sultan in the city of brass. The wizard was known, according to Amelia to have been the target of several investigations into his disappearance every fifty years or so where his absence was noticed over a week, sometimes two.

It was a small lead, but one Amelia feels is important and those stranded with her found themselves agreeing that it was more then a coincidence that the portals around the planes misbehaved as her group sought out this efreeti wizard.

The portals eventually returned to functionality and the staircase returned to its normal constants and the stranded planeswalkers were able to depart to where every they came from but one thing was itching at the back of their brains.

If anyone needed proof of the Void Gates likely existence, they just got it.

They also realized through their first hand experience that this devices existance may or may not be a good thing and many planeswalkers are seriously considering taking up the hunt for this ancient and powerful legend.
