Everything from alchemical experiments, golem alterations, spell research, weapon crafting, ritual studies, enchanting. These are things that can be described here for DM/EM perusal. Maybe someone else is attempting the same thing? Maybe there's help out there that you might not be aware of? There's always a chance what you're trying to accomplish falls in line with a current event, or even an event that is missing that one key element before it can begin. Post it here, detail your character awesomeness, and let the stories come to life.

((I moved the RP involving the Grey Vizir and Emila to a new thread to not clutter things up here.

The search for immortality.

It's a way of life for many, especially within Sigil. For some, a simple matter of earning it. Yet others, some training and gathering of followers, and the act of ascending.
For one mage, one of many who've tried, it's a lifetime goal. A pursuit that drives beyond reason.
A single journal: battered, old, Netherese influenced magic. Even a single paragraph describing a Mythallar was enough to set into motion a grand experiment, even without the hundreds of pages beyond that - full of failed attempts.

But what human would ever have the time to complete something so time consuming? He needed more time for his work, and undead, while tempting, was a last resort.

A strange mechanical device is dropped into a bag, full of others. A few hours walk to the site. The stairs scaled, his head held high. Some went there for money, others for knowledge.

"Let's see what the third option is. I'm certain the dead gods can spare a few measly years here and there."

In her room, Pandris pours over the last of the pages left by the wight. She has already tried to recreate the fabled stone from the notes of both his and her new partners research and each time, she was left with dead slaves and a shattered dull grey rock. She sighs and closes the book and rolls over onto her back staring at the ceiling.

She muses that she will need more exotic ingredients and patience. She picks up the book of her partner and thumbs through a few pages, rereading a few passages she underlined.

Before she tries to enlist the aid of her allies, she will try to exhaust all of her options. The meeting with the Consortium can not come fast enough.

Soaked in sweat, but grinning triumphantly, Morthos the God-loather stands up to address the demon.  ...

Earlier that evening:
Morthos had resolved himself. He would form a pact with a Great Old One, a being alien and unknowable. From his friend Seddiaa's old book, he remembered a ritual that would make contact with Tharizdun. He knew he had the capability to do it, and he needed POWER. Furthermore, he had found a copy of the old dark summoning book in the Night Market today.

How could he avenge Vhosilia without power? The Powers themselves must cease to exist. Let Planeswalkers, Mages, Warlocks, Baatezu, and Tanar'ri fill the void. He cared not. As long as Vhosilia was avenged, it mattered not.
How dare her goddess, Calistria, let her die in such a way?! There was such pain on her face. And he could do nothing! He could not even hold her as she died. While she was dying, he was dragged through the portal to Sigil. How could a goddess treat her faithful in such a way, to let her die without comfort or release?

Vhosilia. Should. Not. Have. Died!

Full of rage, Morthos opens the book in his hands and begins the ritual.

...

Morthos falls asleep at the end of the ritual and perceives this in his dream:
Soaked in sweat, but grinning triumphantly, Morthos stands up to address the demon. The Succubus spoke first, "I am Isireth, an emissary of Tharizdun, committed to his service. He has heard your call, young Cambion. What would you ask of him? Would you form a pact with the Chained God?"
He responded, "I would, but understand he is not a god to me! What are the terms?" Isireth unrolled a scroll, and read the terms. To summarize, he would work to release Tharizdun. He would receive power and knowledge in return. Taking a knife, he cut his thumb and sealed the Pact by placing his bloody thumb where the succubus indicated. He then signed his name next to the bloody mark. The place for Tharizdun's signature was already signed.

"You shall not be disappointed, young warlock!"

Morthos awakes, startled. Initially, he is groggy with sleep. As he begins to remember the dream, he reaches out. A blast of purple-black power shoots out from his fingers! "YES! I shall have more power than most mortals know!"

Those familiar with him, would notice, that lately they do nay see colonel Araki much. Probably because he spends most of the time in libraries and archives throughout City, searching through materials about events in last half a century, regarding any events or activities regarding inactive portal to Unseelie lands, located in greenhouse. Yasuyo would consistently and methodically toil towards his goal: find any documented evidence regarding portal's last activities, what happened when it was open, how it affected those, who interacted with it, how it was closed...

Somewhere he would get in with free access, to other places - it would need some bureaucracy done, which he will laboriously achieve. In case of some clerk was going too stubbornly with nay-saying regarding access to materials, he would instead of bribing (which is strictly against his moral views), gather information or compromising and blackmail them.
(NOTE: maxed out intimidation)

The purchased slaves bodies dropped to the ground in unison. There life forces flow from their bodies, to a small fist sized rock inside of a circle, a circle that was meticulously crafted, show casting the centuries of both experience and patience.

As the circle glows with their added power, Pandris chants in her magical tongues, channeling the recently taken energies into the rock. However, the victory is short lived. A few minutes after accepting the flow of energy, the stone shatters, showering the room with tiny shards of death.

Pandris lets out a howl of frustration. In her eyes, it makes no sense that such a goal, such a lofty purchase, would be so difficult in obtaining. But obtain she must, for the reasons are beginning to mount, she must succeed.

Cornello Sat in the Basement of the Enclave in front of a Torture Rack in the lab, on the Rack would rest a shadow Fey woman bound with a bright light shining down upon her. a long tube Rested in her neck forcing blood to drip down into Several vials that Rested on a Table next to him. The Fey woman was Charmed and under his control due to his Vampiric Abilities for now her Resting calmly as the blood was leaked into the vials. When a Few vials were sealed. he would heal the fey woman and feed her a fresh meal to replenish her life force.
Hmm.. this should do good for now

cornello would go to Work Drinking down a vial of the Shadow Feys Dark blood, he had been feeding purely from their Blood for several cycles now Attempting to Draw The Feys link to the Shadow Realm into himself in order to improve upon his own Stealth abilities, and possibly learn to harness power over the Shadows also

The purchase had been done most out of curiousity than real need, he wasn't going to deny that. He never had any real interest in those creatures until now, but since someone wanted to hunt one anyway... Well, he saw no harm in that. He had wasted money in pettier things than research material, afterall, and he needed something to keep his focus on. He needed to busy himself with something that wasn't paperwork.

Alas, turned out the massive carcass of the wormlike creature wasn't welcome in his house, and even if that wasn't a problem, his private laboratory was too small even to just contain it, let alone allow him to study it.
He had cleaned it and made sure it remained preserved, but he wasn't willing to be forced to reduce its dimensions to work on it, so, he just moved everything someplace else, where he was sure he could not inconvenience anyone or... be inconvenienced.

The study of the arcane "features" of the beast had the priority over everything else. He was convinced they could fade away with time, being it dead, and he didn't wish to risk that: any other experiment on the tissues and organs could probably wait.
He wasn't fooling himself with the idea of recreating one, of course, or to understand right away what took centuries to the Sinkers to achieve, but... he had time and was curious enough to try and learn as much as he could from what remained of that broken toy of destruction...
