Cherry Sapphire made the final touches to her catering and instructed her wait staff about the timing of the hors d'ouvres. The winter witch herself would not be present at the Gala, however, preferring to stay behind the scenes in a nearby hired kitchen to inspect and approve every tray of canapes that made their way out to the revellers.

Her Bleaker Bites might prove to be as surprising as ordering an ale from the Bleaker Zero staff, some being just empty pastry, others with bitter and salty charcoal goats cheese, others yet with tangy spiced apple and pear jam filling sweetened with a touch of freshly whipped cream, while perhaps the tastiest of them all had a light whipped honey and rosewater mousse filling.
