Single-page flyers, some hand-written, some cheaply printed, are seen in small, strategically placed piles - and more often discarded and trampled underfoot - throughout the city.

BLOOD CULTS AND YOU

CITIZENS! The Shattered Temple works tirelessly to protect you from the hideous excesses of the Evil and Chaotic Powers, whose thralls and pets endlessly seek a toehold in our fine, free-thinking city. These clerics and cats-paws of the so-called gods:
  • Entice your children with false promises of money and power!
  • Infiltrate the legitimate Factions to serve their vile agendas!
  • Spy on our city on behalf of shadowy inter-planar churches!
  • Carry out obscure blood rituals under our noses!
  • WILL NOT REST until we are all dead or converted!
Unlike these liars, we do not claim to be all-knowing or all-powerful - the mind unshackled can achieve great things, but only with YOUR help will we keep peonage to debased "gods" at bay.

And just what can you do? It is simple! TELL the Athar about any suspicious cult-related activity near you; GIVE the Athar any "blessed" or "holy" item of these vile powers that you may find; and JOIN the Athar as we defend our fine city from these insidious powers and savage priests. Together we can do it!

The reverse features the names of a dozen powers associated with pain, chaos and death drawn from major Prime and interplanar pantheons, each accompanied by a woodcut of their holy symbol.

A pale woman in dark robes hums an eerie tune in a minor key while striding around the cage and dutifully discarding the flyers before they can be collected by anyone who would read too much into them. The scent of blood is left behind anywhere a flyer goes missing. She does not bother anyone who has already taken a flyer, but her haunting song still penetrates their consciousness like a hawk seizing its prey. Any time they think of the flyers, the tune works to distract them away from the message.

The one posting this images would notice that several of the posters have been painted over with a red liquid resembling blood...The stench would tell anyone nearing any of the spoiled posters that it might be more than just paint....When one examines the spoiled posters closer one would notice that a symbol has been painted over these posters....A Red Lotus Flower...

As light rises on the next cycle, the supplies of flyers have been replenished somewhat. This time there are fewer, smaller piles, sometimes in the same places as before, sometimes in new spots. The body of the text is the same, with the new title "THE THREAT OF THE DARK POWERS" and a different roster of gods on the back.

Most of the lotus-marked sheets are left where they are; one is fixed to a wall and counter-graffitied with the phrase
FEAR NO GODS in tall black letters and one, should anyone be paying close attention, is missing.

A new run of identically worded and formatted flyers are found in a few neat piles around the wards, with more focused in the section of the Lower Ward near the Shattered Temple.

That afternoon, Morthos is seen handing out flyers to bashers in the Bazaar, those titled "THE THREAT OF THE DARK POWERS" (several stacks of which he grabbed at the Temple). While he is frequently rebuffed -- one rude dwarf even spat at him and slapped him several times in full sight of a Harmonium patrol, which earned the barmy berk a visit to the Barracks -- Morthos hands out flyers for several hours. Most of the bashers politely take a flyer. A few even read the flyer after being handed it.
As he hands out flyers, he preaches and exhorts the folk of the Cage to deny the capricious Powers their belief. Whenever questioned about what right he has to preach in the Bazaar, Morthos shows his "license to preach". On numerous occasions, bashers were offended by his message. Morthos calmly debated with them until each one left. He also handed each one a flyer. Most of those who debated him crumpled or tore up the the flyers. A few did, however, take the flyers with contemplative expressions on their faces.

As dusk falls, Morthos is seen returning to the Shattered Temple with a contented smile on his face...
