Kalastria had found what she was looking for: the secret to eternal life and beauty lay within her grasp. She had thoroughly researched vampirism both in her homeland of Ustalav and in the Hall of Records (acccess to which she had, thanks to her ally Felicia Erianne). There remained only one issue: convincing the right vampire to sire her.....
Felicia had enlisted her help in finding her wayward brother, who, by the given description was a foppish nobleman of sorts. In exchange, the items Felicia had loaned her would become gifts instead of a loan. Thus Kalastria had two issues to solve.
It came to her while socializing in the bazaar: an epiphany! The perfect idea to kill two birds with one stone: she would organize a ball for wealthy and influential nobles of Sigil, an expensive social event, to which she would invite the city's wealthy or influential for an evening of entertainment and socializing. This would draw out Felicia's foppish brother into a public place, as well as quite possibly attracting a few of the city's rich noble vampires...
Felicia seemed intrigued by the idea, and suggested a masquerade ball, with colourful masks worn by the guests. A thoroughly delightful twist, thought Kalastria, and so she went off to find a venue for this event.
OOC So basically this is what my character Kalastria will try to organize. I will of course need a lot of DM help on this, but I think it has the potential to involve a majority of the server's characters in a juicy roleplay event. The rich wealthy types like Duke Rowan of the Fated or factol Erin of the Sensates would need to be played of course. The poorer, less influential people might still be useful as messengers, hired guards, caterers, performers, ect, so I'm not trying to exclude anyone.
The venue most appropriate would have to be faction-neutral, thusly I think the Foul Olde Spirit inn would serve best....it has the jukebox for music, plenty of room for socializing and intrigue, two floors for the party to take place in, ect.
I'm hoping to spend the next week or two organizing the event, which will involve hiring messengers to hand-deliver the invitations, hiring the caterers, bards, and private security. With a bit of DM help I think a lot of people could get involved, so fun all around. I'd like to get some feedback on this and discuss the scheduling as soon as possible. The 25th or 26th of June might be a good date for it, but we could have it the week after, on the 2nd or 3rd of July (both are saturdays and sundays)

Oh also I'll need a DM to play as Muriel, the owner of the Foul Old Spirit from time to time...

\\ OOC: Idea sounds fine and i'll chip in as DM if/when i can, and maybe others will as well. However, if you can't get a DM for certain stages, don't let that stop you. If you want to bring in a NPC (although not a Factol) you can do it on the forums or even in-game (create a PC to act as an NPC and switch characters as necessary - yeah, its a pain).
Oh, and moving this to the IC forum as its really doesn't belong here.

((Since this idea was presented to me Im tempted to take the reins however that is impossible given the duality of its purpose... also, non-violent events aernt really my speciality, social events especially... so id be rather interested if anyone else would like to throw their DM hand in this coffer.))

((It's not that Duke cannot run a social event and his epic uberness prevents him from being socialistic. The fact is he may turn everyone into a boat or a mine cart out of boredom. Just ask Hild he enjoyed it quite a bit. But never shout a fairy a fairy!))
((And now I must hide from Duke hehe))

\\Oh yeah, i'll also turn up as Dorian if i'm not on as DM. He wears a mask all the time, so will fit right in.... except for the brightly coloured part.
Reminds me of one of the Discworld books where the Wizards summon death from a party:
"I asked if it was a good party."
AT THE MOMENT IT IS, replied Death levelly. I THINK IT WILL GO DOWNHILL VERY QUICKLY AT MIDNIGHT, HOWEVER.
"Why is that?"
THAT'S WHEN THEY THINK I'LL BE TAKING MY MASK OFF.

(((back to IC)))
Charles went over his books and set aside a specific amount of jink should the young lady come looking for him again. He had offered her some financial backing for her idea and was looking forward to the chance to relax amongst the upper class of the city.
All he required now was her part... the planning and the estimated costs.

Well Muriel had offered to host it for 20 000 jink, and a few conditions, but Kalastria managed to get a better offer from the House of Six Fingers, and its seductive proprietress Maelfina. The stage was set for the ball to take place on (July 2nd, EST afternoon).
All across the City of Doors, messengers were dispatched bearing elegant sealed envelopes destined for the city's wealthy and influential elite and their guests. Factols, factotums, government officials, industry and business leaders, all were to soon recieve the envelope, which was a light blue colour and decorated with an image of a stylized mask. Bold cursif lettering proclaimed: ""The House of SixFingers cordially invites (lord/lady) (recipient's name) and guests to the City of Doors Masquerade Ball"
The invitation within contained the following:
"Welcome, (lord/lady) (recipient's name), to the City of Door's prime social event par excellence, hosted by Miss Maelfina Sixfingers and Lady Kalastria Bloodthorne at the House of Sixfingers. The city's most prominent citizens gather on the evening of (July 2nd) for a soirée of socializing and revelry amidst the delights of Miss Maelfina's House of entertainment. The event will feature costumes, masks, and dancing of exquisite styles and fashions, as well as a three course meal, and musical entertainment.
You will be expected to be dressed as appropriate to this social event, meaning leave your planes-travel-stained armour at home, and don that classy and ambitious new outfit! Do not forget your mask, for 'tis a Masquerade!
Arrival time set for (EST afternoon July 2nd), and a meager donation of 750 jink will be requested per guest. The meal starts in the evening once sufficient guests have arrived, and the hosts deem it time.
Additionally, a prize for the best costume and mask will be awarded, as judged by the hosts and guests votes, sometime after the meal is finished.
your hostesses,
Maelfina and Kalastria"
