The clerks ward fills with smoke heat and screams as fire rises from the end of one of its streets. Where once had stood a tall fortified keep used by the Harmonium to coordinate its patrols here, now there was only a smoking ruin. A squad of Harmonium guards quickly barricaded off the street and formed a bucket chain with the aid of a passing spell caster they were able to contain the flames though it may yet take many hours until the blaze dies down entirely. Although the Harmonium do their best to pressures any information the following rumors still leak out:
People around the outpost heard sounds of screaming and battle before the blaze started
Two Harmonium officers were killed one of them high ranking.
The singed copy of the outposts log book that was recovered shows that the last person who is not Harmonium personal who was signed in was Mauirc Ashterot
Maurics body is not amongst the dead.

This news and rumours make Hasclaan curious.
He saw that blaze himself and he knows that Sinker who seems to have been involved in this incident.
Not long ago he was questioned by the Hardheads as well.... but there was no threats of violence and after a few questions they did let him go again.
So why should Mauric destroy this outpost and kill two officers?
The next day, after finishing his work and some of his own research he makes his way to the burnt down outpost, hoping to find clues about what might have happened there.

Chari The Pure heads down the outpost once her work for the day is finished and filled away. Like Hasclaan, she flashes her badge to those standing guard and looks around the scene of the burned down building for any clues as well.
When she crosses Hasclaan's path, she introduces herself sweetly and tells him she is interested in the crime scene and she tells him that she is looking for any signs that was done by the anarchist known as Phoenix.

Hasclaan greets Chari with one of his usual small but polite nods and shows his badge that identifies him as a mere Fraterinty aide. Of course he is not surprised to see a Hardhead investigator at the scene- indeed he sees this as the opportunity he needs.
" There is not much I can tell you yet but an Anarchist attack to increase tensions between the Doomguard and the Harmonium would make sense. "
He pauses a bit, considers his next words carefully. " However there might be another reason. Both I and that missing sinker were involved in disrupting cultist activities in Undersigil.... and I have been questioned about this matter by a high ranked officer. Hearing what happened here I think the Sinker had a similar conversation.... that then ended in violence with perhaps a third party involved. I doubt Mauric would have reacted with lethal force if he were just asked the same questions I have been asked.
You see why I am interested to find out what happened here. I do not want something similar happening to me."

As The Measure approaches The Notary who is in charge of the operation snaps a salute.
"Ma'am"
He then glances at Hasclaan.
"Is this gentleman with you?"

She nods as she gestures Hasclaan closer.
"Who is this third party. And I can see, I can have a protection detail assigned to you. A couple of out of dressed Harmonium finests to watch over you?"

"I do not know who this third party might be. Perhaps the anarchists who want a war between Hardheads and Sinkers, perhaps the Cultist who want to remove witnesses.
If the first is true... have any cells claimed responsibility for the attack already? To my second theory... has the Harmonium already questioned the other two witnesses?
Of course it might also be a Sinker lusting for blood.
Perhaps it is also a yet unknown group.... to find out is the reason why I came here.
By the way... to keep the Sinkers from getting worried about one of their own being attacked while in Hardhead custody... perhaps a diplomatic note might be appropriate. And the reaction might be rather insightful.... if, for example we tell them Mauric is treated by our clerics.
As for myself serving as a bait..... it might work. Right now I feel safe enough however- I fear guards will only draw abdifferent kind of attention to me."
He gestures towards the burnt down building. "Shall we start to investigate?"

As they discuss things the Notary shows them around the ruin. The basic structure of the building survives. Being a paladin Chari would sense a lingering vile evil. Something foul had been there not long ago.
"Here are the bodies Ma'am, sir."
The bodies of the troopers all appear to have been clawed bitten or burnt save one.
"This is the body of Mover 3 Harris Ma'am."
The moves body seems intact pierced only by a single clean piercing wound.
"We believe it was a rapier or shortsword. We found traces of Pandomic Silver in the cut Ma'am."

Hasclaan looks over the corpses trying to examine the wounds discreetly.
The bit about pandemonic silver makes him curious- as this metal can be only worked at the Armoury. It would make sense but is this really the answer?
He bends down to one of the other troopers, tries to find out what kind of creature has caused the bite and clawmarks.
"Are there survivors who have seen what has happened?"

"No Anarchist cells have taken credit for this, they typically do" She thinks about what he said before responding
"The Harmonium haven't done that either, at least to my knowledge. So your thinking this is just a ruse to get the Harmonium and another into a confrontation then?"
She looks over the burnt structure and bows her head toward Hasclaan. "Let's go investigate" She joins him in looking over the burned down building. She lets Hasclaan investigate the body staying out of the way as she watches him examine the unfortunate soul.
