Recently the wizard Hasclaan Guunt moved several strange pieces of arcane machinery to a room he rented on Dead God's rock.
The muscles he hired for this task were payed well but left in the dark about the purpose of said machinery.
However there are also rumours that the wizard will pay well for information about the birth or death of Powers...

After finishing his research on Dead God's rock Hasclaan Guunt moves into a small house in the Lower Ward to continue his research.
The day afterwards messenger imps are sent to Oerth and the Temple of the Abyss, carrying letters and small presents.

After returning from the Barracks Hasclaan examines what he founds thoroughly, also searching whatever records he can find in the hall or at the courts for helpful clues.
He will also research the name Ramal- trying to find out what he can about this creature.

Hasclaan would find the gen similar to the one found in Undersigil. It possesses some feint magic but it has no discernible properties occasionally Hasclaan feels something within it watches him. His research turns up little about the gems though, simply that there are three hundred and thirty three gems sacred to the servants of the elemental evil.
His research into the name Ramal proves a little more fruitful there are several Ramal's of note in Sigil's long history one of them bares particular significance.
Lucien Ramal was Factol of The Doomguard for what is by the standards of that faction a lengthy four years. He was killed fighting a war against the Harmonium shortly after The Great Upheaval just over six hundred years ago.

Setting the Gem aside Hasclaan reads more about Ramal's history, his deeds, his allies.. enemies.. whatever he can find. Time to open a new folder in his research.

Returning from gathering all the books and records Hasclaan sits down in his bedroom which also serves as his study.
He pours himself a glass of wine then looks over at the meal he had ordered at the restaurant- simple roast chicken with rice, herbs and butter (no garlic however despite him usually being rather fond of this allioidae) and he starts to eat, using the simple process of having a meal to calm his mind and focus.
Opening a drawer he takes out a small black box, the glyphs on it faded and there are only a few left who would have been able to decipher the old tongue of Moil anyway. He takes a moment to check the wards, feel if he is still attuned to them then opens it to retrieve the small green gem.
Such a simple thing.. a small thing.. yet so deadly and causing so much trouble.
The Doomguard would use it only to kill and destroy, the Hardheads would probably not understand, the Fraternity study it, lock it away until it will be used again. The Cultists... they are mad anyway.
She was right- women often are even if it is hard to admit sometimes.
He smiles to himself and takes the gem from its resting place and he gets out on the streets, approaching the next Dabus he sees.
"Here. You should have it.", he simply says, giving the gem to the floating creature.

The Daubus stops as Hasclaan approaches. As he produces the gem he seems to get the creatures attention. A series of strange symbols appear above its head and it slowly takes the gem. It fixes Hasclaan in its gaze, and it is difficult to tell but it seems the creature is pleased. It begins to slowly float away.

The necromancer returns to his home quickly now somehow relieved to be still not mazed nor flayed.
Once at home he continues his research about this ancient Doomguard- seaching for when and where this name has been heard, also trying to find out more about the gem and the entity called Arnor.

After finding Ramal's empty sacophagus Hasclaan concentrates his research on tying to find out who might have revived him, animated him- or perhaps cloned him.
Going back to look through endless records and lists he trues to find casters and also physicians or crafters powerful enough to not just revive the corpse but also to 'clone' it.

Being a Guvner Hasclaan of course knows how to carry out such a srarch although it will take near enough a fortnight of constant work. He searches first those with a permit to cast magic, then those with a permit to create clones and finally those who have a permit to create undead during the period of history he is interested in. Finally he cross references that with death certificates from The Mortuary to eliminate those whom the criteria apply to but are deceased and he is left with four names; Luthor Hess a lich who's last known address was knocked down by the daubus centuries ago. A heavily censored record with no listed name, or at least not one Hasclaan's postion as an aide will allow him clearance to see Tristran Yanek, a Lady'd ward address is listed and Theodore Kendt who was mazed but not killed and uis survived by a great many descendents, he has an address in what is now the hive ward.
