Sigil: City of Doors

Hograth enters the room Caterina uses as her office at home and he lets himself fall into one of the chairs, the wood groaning under the Half Orc's bulk.

He is dressed in dark leather breeches and a wide, pale woolen shirt that hides his broad chest and thick arms well. His hair is still wet and he smells of soap but it is not enough the cover the scent of fire that still clings to him.

Caterina sees some wearyness in the way he moves, the way he leans forward to rest his lower arm on his thighs.

Yet he smiles when he adresses her- and it is a genuine, warm smile.

"How was your day?"

Caterina looks up from her desk before her a collection of paperwork in an orderly pile in front of her. A half burned candle casts shadows around the room.

"Busy as always. I am glad to see you have returned safely. Is it as we remember?"

He shakes his head.

"More complicated. The devils decided to get involved, perhaps to deny the Demons the layer. It is a battlefield now."

The Half Orc pauses, thinks a bit.

"We attacked a castle, killed the pit fiend who held it with its guard. I was surprised.. did not expect the devils to.. hm. Sadly no real answers, it was not willing to chat.

I do not think we were told everything, Cat."

She writes something in one of the files on her desk. The ink stamp at the top of it would suggest it is destined for the Fraternity's Bureau of Prime Affairs.

"Of course we have not been told the whole truth. Locke did not tell us the whole truth about the Grey'enne swords or his involvement with the Revolutionary League. I worry he forgets his current fortunate circumstances rely upon the good graces of the Triad. Now is not the time to remind him. I would rather him be cooperative for now."

She closes the file as she finishes writing.

"You mentioned baatezu though. They would be the enemy of our enemy. What are the chances they can be spoken to?"

Leaning back he crosses his arms in front of his chest as he thinks a bit.

"The devil in charge was a Pit Fiend- it did not introduce itself, showed no markings. Hard to say which legion it belongs to or what lord it serves.

However we know when it died. And where. Perhaps there are some records about this in Hells.

As for its motivations- yor guess as as good as mine."

"I doubt it's demise will have been recorded so quickly. The Fraternity has a presence in Baator as it does the other lawfully alingend planes, but even with a name it would be impossible to discover who it was and which power it served."

She sighs

"I take it you have managed to secure a safe area on the plane?"

"The castle is now held by Loke's forces. If they can be trusted I cannot say. But it is a start."

After returning from the prime Caterina heads to the city court. She writes herself a warrant and then she makes her way across the Lady's Ward to the temple of the abyss.

The looming evil building and its atmosphere of oppressive evil seem to cause her distaste as opposed to discomfort. She approaches the priest and and presents the warrant one she has used her position as a judge to sign herself.

"In order to aid the Fraternity in an ongoing investigation I will be requiring access to your archives, most specifically anything relating to a creature called a Malefactor."

Hograth searches the archives of the Harmonium- perhaps a entity like this-a Malefactor- has been mentioned somewhere.

He also writes up an official request to acess the lore in the Hall of Records, appropriate fees included.
