Rumours are spreading through Sigil- the Temple of the Abyss is looking for freelancers and Mercenaries that are willing to investigate the unusual increase of drug use in the Hive.
The temple is offering high rewards in money, soul and positions for those willing to help.
Chant is that Neefe, a Succubus who can be found in the temple, handles this operation.
....in The Dark

Mauric is quick to present himself to the succubus. He had an odd request would he succeed with this misson. Namely a non-potent soul nearly extinguished.
Some time later Maedbroghail arrives at the temple. She is more careful and asks for details. More interested in material wealth and powerful artifacts that could be useful as her reward. She also mentions the mercenary company called the Cabal.

The fiend is arrogant and vain but eager to do business. She greets Mauric politely and after listening to his demands she agrees.
The offer is a soul of a mortal that had lingered for decades ine he gem that was used to bind it. Now only a tiny spark remains, a spark that might fade away in th months to come.
In exchange she asks Mauric to investigate the involvement of the Putrid Hand in this new business. So far theys were supporting the temple with 'gifts' and gold but recently their tribute and eagerness to serve are not what they used to be.
Mauric gets some adresses in the Hive Ward and Lower Ward where he could start his investigations.
*******************************************************************************************
When Maedbroghail arrives a bit later she finds the Succubus in a heated discussion with a Babau, the winged fiend threatening the other demon she has cornered in a room near the library. It teleports away, probably intimidated.
The 'ubus quickly calms down and adresses Maed in a rather pleasant, businesslike way. She shares some informations- mostly that she needs to find out if there is a new player in the Hive's business of drugs, souls and slaves. She mentions that she is also worried about the loyality of a group called the Putrid Hands and she would be interested in the mercenary groups services should the Hand need to move against the Fists of Chaos- a rather unpleasant cell of the Revulotionary League.
The payment will be appropriate to the services and informations delivered- gems, gold or artifacts.

Mauric hurries back to his room hired in the Old Foul Spirits Inn. Once there he dons a flithy tattererd black robe, he pulls the hood over his head and leaves with a quick step directly towards the given adress. He leaves a wave curved dagger dangeling from his belt visible.
He pushes through the throng of one of the Hive's buisier streets without any questions. When he is close he starts asking people near it.
"where is the Putrid Hand? I was told they would be here. I want to join."
********************************************************************
Maedb entered the Hive with great reluctance. The flith, the noise and above all the steanch. As she tried to shun any larger crowds man came out of a dark ally in a fast pace faked to stumble against her and layed a hand on her hip the other deftly slank into her satchel. Not noticing the atempted theft touching her was enough to arouse a fit of uncontrolled anger. She put her hand on his forhead and conjured a splash of acid possibly blinding him. Dragging him by his hair into the dark ally whence he came. She ask as set of questions treatingly and virulent. "What do you know of the drug, slave and soul trade herein? Are there any new dealers? The Putrid Hand do you know of it?"

Mauric meets many fearful people, the Putrid Hand having a well earned reputation for violence.
But there are some who share information with him. Whispers, perhaps only rumours about abandoned cellars, a warehouse close to the Night Market.
Then another hooded creature approaches him, whispering- and Mauric knows this is no mere mortal but some demonic thing as well.
"We serve the same power. I am eyes. Udun.. near the Night Market. Find him. A tall man in leathers. Bald. Tattoed with the signs of decay. He uses an axe. Be careful. If you can make an example of him... another soul will be added to your price."
Whoever the creature is- ut knows about the agreement Mauric has with Neefe.
**************************************************************
The man whimpers, his eyes red ans teary, the acid ate away some of the tissue.
He stammers some responses- most incoherent babbling but she hears something about the Hand recently having moved into a former abandoned house- planning something there.
What? Well, he tells something about demon summoning and creation of undead and nightly screams.
The watching Warg will notice that the man is frightened but no danger to Maed- but then a old crone approaches, whispering to the winged woman.
Maedbroghail will notice that creature's appearance is just an illusion, a spell woven around some creature to hide its true nature and while the whispers are mostly nonsense the voice speaking to her mind is clear.
"The house is full of their enforcers. Led by the Essan twins. They prepaare for something. Killing those two in a spectacular way would break their spirit. Yes.. I know what Neefe hired you for. We fight for the same side."

He grin is all that is visible of his face "I'll steal a peek of it. I reckon you'll stay around for the eventualities of a good show?"
He lowers his hood some more and saunters away to the Night Market without much planning. But he was an entertainer and amusment were long over due. He Watch for an addict just as much as he looks for Udum when he starts to get nearer. Someone desperate enough to do anything to satisfy his cravings of the drug.

She looks to the wolf folding her arms and tapping a finger againts her scaled rerebrace continueously. Her demeanor pensive as weaving a plan of some kind. She had no clue how large this guard force was or whom it was allied wtih. Besides the harmonium would not over look a slaughter even here she thought. It could deface their Company greatly if it grew out of hand. They had to be killed in a manner that deterred the others and made them all look weak and unable. Perhaps they could be provoked into attacking or lured away from sight.
After a uncomfortably long silence she say "So those may suffice."
She turns around abruptly and strides away towards the building trusting the wolf to follow. But don't appraoch any of the guards near the entrance. She watches from a safe distance to get a full apprisal of the situation before she acts.

The Warg pads along a short distance behind her, keeping to the alleys and the shadows of overhanging roofs. From an intersection ahead four red eyes glance out, then slink out to join them as if at a silent command. Soon a small pack of the monsters is moving through the hive stealthily, trailing Maedbroghail and the first warg as they make their way to the building.

"I stay.... and stay out of sight. Not good if my mug gets known, not good if I get caught in battle. I am all eyes, no claws."
The creature looking to the side, tensing- then it whirls around to vanish in a shadow nearby.
On his way to the Night Market Mauric passes past several addicts- most begging, some stealing, some selling their bodies. People are desperate and there is no lack of those who make some nice profit out of their desperation.
The creature's description was quite good and Mauric has no troubles finding this Udun- his behaviour and the reactions of the others showing his authority. His ax is strapped to his back and there are no visible bodyguards- but plenty of petitioners who are surrounding him, pestering him with their requests.
***************************************************************
The crone retreats after saying what she had to say, the man whumpering on the filthy ground, trying to crawl away.
Followed by the small pack of wargs she reaches the building- a desolate looking, two storey high house with a flat roof, combining both elvish as well as infernal architecture (and the door leading to it probably has been stolen from an old gnome dwelling).
The two wargs who were joining the first hesitate- feeling somehow that something is wrong about the building, something queer hidden inside perhaps?
Yet they follow their leader and the winged woman of course- and so far the two guards in front of that odd, round door have not seen them. A quick count reveals there may be perhaps ten to fifteen people in this house- thugs and bruisers and cutthroats- no real warriors.

He donned his iron mask. A quite mundane design and made out of porsline. As he spotted a victim he strolls closer and kneelt down before a man in tatters lying in the gutters. Speaking with a fatherly voice "This ain't good mate. You won't get a rotten copper this way. But your luck just changed, I'll be providing you with all you need."He placed a note with an address written on it in the addicts hand and closed it. "Come see me when the light fades." He then moves over to the harlot that waved him in. With a cuped hand he caressed her chin quite lovingly. "Such a nice girl as you shouldn't have to do this. You're better that this. There is other ways than this toilsome indignity. I can only imagen the slimes you have go through." He shows her a tradebar of silver. " This aught to give you the trip of your life. But nothing is for free is it? Come and see me when dakness falls." He gave her a note with the same adress Before he left for next suitable target. He tried trick two dossen of them expecting no more than half to acually show up.
Done with the addicts he strolls over to Udun. Feign nervosity and inexperiance. Trying to sound Young and stupid as some richs mans son that gone hiving. "Hi! um I need some uhh you know stuff." He showed him the same tradebar. " I can pay." He said reassuringly.
(The note leads to a abandoned small cellar)
********************************************************************
She retreats to a secluded area and through a series of melodious incantations she wards herself. "I shall scout the interior. If trouble arise try to bar the passage from without" With that she cast improved invisibility on the worg then herself. A blare of wingbeatings could be Heard soon afterwards. Steering towards the roof she attepted to land ontop of it hoping there may be a entrance in it less guarded than the main gate.
