A Simple Investigation Or Much More?

“One thing I don’t put much faith in is luck. I’m not a gambling man as tossing the dice only gives strength to the powers of chaos… but one thing is for certain, I wasn’t expecting to be handed this investigation when I returned to the Barracks for lunch.
LunchÂ… I was looking forward to it that day. It was a long morning and I was feeling rather hungry. A simple walk to the Barracks was on the agenda. They were serving fresh beef from Toril in the mess hall and that was always a treat. When I walked into the BarracksÂ… she was there. We had crossed paths before in the Market. A Guvner with an attitudeÂ… like I needed to deal with that at the time. Sarcasm and distain were her weapons of choice. Hands looked like the heaviest thing sheÂ’d ever lifted was a penÂ… or her ego.
She had brought evidence to the desk Seargent about some incident in the Market. Some berk had been chased by the local patrols from the Hive. Once cornered he dead-booked himself in a flash of flame. Now usually that would be that. Collect any weapons or illegal itemsÂ… then leave him for the Dustmen or the verminÂ… whichever got to him firstÂ… but not Miss Arnden. She took it upon herself to search him further.
FineÂ… She was bored, I get that, but why am I suddenly having to play sitter for this woman? She had found a note on the SodÂ… appearently anarchist in origin. Not like itÂ’s a new thing to find these notes. We find them on stiffs all the timeÂ… but she somehow convinced the Seargent that this one was different. He put me on the case.
SoÂ… now we have to take a trip to Dead God Rock to speak with an old Anarchist who might be willing to decipher the note.
Oh… did I mention Beef was on the menu? Yeah… I imagine it was pretty good… too bad I had other things to worry about.”
