Ooze portals in themselves don't normally concern Justicar Andor, but any mention of the cult of Kruphai does. So, upon hearing their name on the chant around the slime gates, he donned his Hive rags and cowl, then set off to the wretched districts to get a glimpse of what was really going on. Luck willing, this would be simple as finding a guard with the damning symbol...
Altair flipped a jinx to Ten Fingers, taking a copy of the rag lying beside him on the stall. "Ta, mate." Shaking it, he flipped through the articles, wondering what he'd missed in the extremely concerning cycle he'd been off plane. Probably nothing important. Something about Takers getting roughed up by clueless, the Guvnahs were trying to get some new law or other passed, oh boy. His eyes narrowed as he read the article about the ooze portals though. Folding the paper up, he stalked off toward the Hive, one hand on the mace at his side.
An old hag is seen offering kids sweeties and seeing if they want to go into one of the portals. Unfortunately hive kids are too streetwise to do what Betsy asks, especially after many of them just spent the last few months as a teddy bears trapped by her in a dingy old room.
The situation in the Hive is as described, though most people don't seem to be paying it much mind - barring one very persistent hag. Dace and Altair would recognize the blue glow as being similar to that which has accompanied the ritual sites, though it is impossible to to examine it further without going through one of the portals.
Altair studied the portal for a moment, with a nervous look. He remembered the last time he'd gone in one of those all too vividly still. Glancing at Dace, he spoke up. "Oi. Y'figger I oughta go round up th' ovvers? Looks like th' 'verse is tellin' us it's time. Lucky us."
Dace looks at the portal hesitantly for a few moments before nodding and answering. "Seems so... better pack a good lunch while you're at it. No telling how much longer or shorter this trips going to be."
As Altair departs, Dace heads to his own kip to recover what equipment and supplies they'd need, including a suit of enchanted leathers he'd been keeping aside for the Salt plane if it came to that.
Hope it keeps goop out as well...
Packed and suited up, he returned back to the spot, waiting for the others.
Upon wandering in the evening, the silver haired elven mage often finds him-self in other wards, making various checks to disturbances. Rather in his mind, a voice in his head had given him a clue about a new portal have activity. Silently thanking Melethkkanara and now like a hound finding a new prey, he was fast on foot to get there.
The ghostly hue of puddles and surrounding the entrance caught him off guard.
He side glances and checks around in the shadows, throwing up a sight spell, the brief repieve giving an erririe quite for him. Then he makes a various amount of checks with his magic arsenal, an attempt to identify where this leads or estimate how long it might be open.
This takes some time, while making notes, but he felt excited at the prospect , that something was about to happen.
Altair's shape shifted as he dropped to all fours, his form becoming that of a large dire wolf. As quickly as he reasonably could, he'd try to collect Quinn, Vyse, and Deidra. First he'd check respective residences, and failing that try to track them down off familiar scents.
"Oi, portal t' th' Mnemur Nexus' opened up in th' 'ive. Seems like it's time."
