A New Campaign

//The first post will be OOC since it'll contain some crucial information about this becoming campaign, its subject and actual plans are disclosed until it begins and I'll be writing the story as it goes as flavor text and also change name of this topic to reflect it better for now it'll remain spoiler free. However the campaign will have a set of rules or lets say guidelines that I expect the participants to acknowledge for the smoothness of the events on going as well as for the sanity reasons of most obvious attempts to do things:
Rules of the Event
The main storyline will be mainly handled by myself with possibly someone assisting at the time, possibly not, but I'll be the guy that forwards the progression of the campaign storyline. I did write several ideas for "side-missions" that may or may not be handled by some DMs or EMs during the storylines if someone shows interest in participation to the idea.
There will likely be roughly 3 main events in span of 3 weeks, it's not a huge campaign, but it may also extend depending on how far we manage to get per session as well as distractions or cunning thoughts by players. I've wrote a quick briefing for up to 8 mini-events that could revolve around it as well, but that's up for other DMs or EMs if they're interested and they could easily just make up their own when they hear about it.
This will likely start next weekend (5th-7th of October, date not yet set), but I still have to tool out a couple details and I'm also getting a new class to start next week so we'll see how much time I get from amidst university and SRR's as well as trying to actually have fun.
Rules of the Event
-
- This event is for PCs (Player Characters) only, only NPCs (Non-Player Characters) that will be acknowledged are your summons, familiars, animal companions and real cohorts you can represent in game via mechanics.
- Resting will be restricted during the campaign events. Ask permission from DM to rest, make your spells as well as abilities count and do not become too stingy about consumables. Rest is considered to last 8 hours.
- PnP non-game mechanic spells and abilities will require permission from DM or the target if it's PC. However be mindful that all the rules will be applied in such case as will the costs, so think carefully unless you really wish to spend 1 hour of your event time casting scrying for example.
- Be careful with the decisions your character makes and do them in understanding that your character only lives ones. While perma-death is not forced (One can choose it for their own character if they wish naturally), there may still be quite a few nasty things that may happen to the characters if they act rashly, your character or things around your character may pay the price of such.
- Things may require actual tangible effort above "I cast a spell and its fixed" and if you approach with such behavior, be prepared for disappointment since sometimes spells and abilities may not be a fix-it-all solution.
- If you feel your character deserves faction points or alignment shift over certain actions taken due to <insert your reason> then let me know in a tell, since if there are many people, it may be quite hectic and it can become an easy oversight for myself.
- Asking for confirmation to actions other than #3 pertaining the event will likely result to a vague "if that's what your character would do, then go for it." it does not mean anything good comes out of it, nor that anything bad necessarily. As a tip, NPCs don't consider themselves quite as expendable as PCs often think them to be.
- OOC disputes with DM are to be left for the end of the event to allow the story progress with ease.
- Don't like the rules? Don't join the events. ;)
