The Cage Carnival Painting Contest
By Felynn Rawhenn of the Ciphers

Well greetings to you all Cagers, it is time to get this fine carnival started, well partially at least! This here is the Painting contest for all you crafty painters of the Cage, the contest is very simple. You may paint anything you want, and once finished bring the works to the Cage Carnivals in where we store them to the end of first official carnival day, and at the second day of Carnival we will auction all the paintings, in a figure of speech.

The painters may decide if they wish to sell their paintings for the bidded amount of jink, or not. Any bidders are promising to pay the amount of jink, but are told that it is possible the painter might not wish to sell them. Winner is the one whom gets highest bids. And a fine prize they shall receive.

((OOC Rules:
  1. Painting descriptions posted to this thread.
  2. No actual pictures allowed. (Sorry googling or having talent to draw is not gonna save thee now ;) )
  3. At the end of 4th of friday is last painting with the wanted description I'll be making in toolset and used for the actual in game "auction.

Drakos will enter a rather large painting entitled "Flight Over Brux"

It will show the landscape of Brux from the air for quite a few miles around the waterfall region. A little amateurish in quality, but to scale, and interestingly enough will show the locations and compositions of all Fey encampments in the region as well as any other significant details.

The story of its creation can be found here:

A strange entry, but maybe there are buyers who would be interested in such a piece.... purely for artistic reasons of course.

The finished product will be submitted just before the deadline so it will be as current as possible.

Lyra ponders a while. What should be the focus and form of such artwork? Something that would grab attention, fit within her natural talent and be desirable to bid for in hope of receiving a high bid of worth.

Her fingers itched to do another painting anyway. Oil on canvas was so different to ink on skin..quite a different medium and she had done nothing since Darremar's portrait.

Who had money in Sigil and of whom did she like to make parody?

And then she had it.

She could easily do this one from imagination and memory having spent much time in his company and those of his kin.

She got out her palette and brushes, mixed shades of green and a deep pink hue, some reds also then some darker shade oils for the background to represent the darkness of the under city. She prepared large canvas with an undercoat and then began.

The main part of the painting showed the following at first and easy glance:

A huge towering half orc stood on raised stone platform with heavy muscled arm raised, jaw open as if making speech, a large eye of Grumsch visible to his bared chest. To one side another stood, darker in appearance as she knew of but had hardly met with the shaman to this Fist clan. To the left side, a fierce looking red-haired green-skin female, less bulky in form and bearing pointed ears.

Before the three, the painting hinted at crowd facing them, dark head shapes and many or orc ilk and other creatures of the undercity, gnoll and goblin, but faces and feature less distinguishable.

At closer inspection however, the parody was more evident.

The orc chief was devoid of any clothing with genitalia of the minutest proportions on display to his clan. A pair of deep pink shorts lay to the ground in shadow at his feet.
The pointed ear female of red hair was wearing a dull suit of rusted plate armour, fully covering her assets from head to toe, very bland and unsexy.
The orc shaman to the right was slightly bowed and sporting a walking stick and a spindly beard. He too was partially naked but for open robe and his genitalia were over exaggerated, in fact massive in comparison to that of the orc chief.

The only clue as to the artiste was a small 'L' to the bottom left hand corner, which could be lost amidst the form of a scar upon one goblin's head.

Erotic art was her forte as well as tattoos and piercings. Life in the hovels of the hive had brought easy money sketching and painting many in little and odd poses. She completed the painting and without showing any of her family the piece, sent it to the Felynn Rawhenn, the competition organiser annonymously, with the title

"The Reality of the Iron Tusk".

((A metre distance and anyone would see the parody. Spot check for the 'Signature' DC20, Spot check DC35 to any who have seen Lyra's style of art before to know it is hers))
