Great Bazaar Suffers a Rash of Thefts

A rash of thefts has been suffered across the Great Bazaar, with shop keepers complaining about the loss of everything from potions, to large sums of money. Thus far a pattern hasnÂ’t arisen, save that no one has been hurt and property hasnÂ’t been damaged. Whoever is committing the crimes seems purely interested in stealing valuables, and doing so in without leaving a trace of evidence.

Even Khazeet has been heard saying, “Turned ‘round to fetch a mug for ale, and when I looked back the damned ale was gone!”

Certain folks of an orcan heritage start excessively preaching that this is why 'Pecks' should be banned.

The thefts continue to escalate in scale and frequency, and still not a loose finger or lingering eye has been spotted. Arguments have broken out between the bazaar merchants and the patrolling Harmonium, with the former accusing the latter of lacking performance. Several grievances have been filed, and there are even rumors of some of the more angry merchants threatening to cease paying their taxes to the Fated if the issue isnÂ’t promptly handled.

Some adventurers even overhear Minerva saying, “This really proves just how unconcerned the Harmonium are. They don’t care about setting things right, they only care about getting their cut from the Takers. If the thief isn’t arrested soon I’m packing up shop!”

Many might have noticed an unusual sight in the bazaar, a tall oak tree is seen rooted in the middle of the bazaaar, its branches splayed out as if in a protective canopy, anyone in the bazaar would get the feeling that that are being watched carefully when this tree is present, especially those doing bussiness with the merchants...

The rumors have compounded following a discussion that Khazeet claims to have overheard in his own bar. According to the efreet, there’s a figure calling himself "The King" who has claimed responsibility for the string of burglaries. When asked whom he overheard saying this, he responds, “Was that addled pretty man detective an’ two of his chits – halfling and gnome, believe it or not!”

The thefts appear to have escalated in response to circulating rumors calling attention to “The King.” Minerva complains that she’s lost entire scroll cases and spellbooks, while Layla stops anyone who will listen to crone about her lost stock of extracts and potions. Shale now spends hours grumbling about the theft of his favorite display weaponry. All the bazaar merchants have begun openly harassing Harmonium patrolmen, chastising them for not doing their jobs and refusing to do business with them.

Khazeet has been overheard saying, “Ain’t no Heardhead getting’ a drop from me. Let ‘em tongues dry out ‘til they do ‘em damned duties! This keeps goin’ an’ I’m closin’ up shop for good. Plenty o’ business back in the City o’ Brass! An’ no damned thieves!”

Khazeet suddenly cries out, without provocation, reading from a parchment set upon his bar top.

“Khazeet, you will read this in full for all the bazaar, or I’ll take from you your entire stock and profits.

"Cagers! I am The King and so you shall listen! The thefts will increase and spread passed the Bazaar should the Harmonium dogs not immediately call any and all patrols and/or agents from the Hive. Our domain shall be left to the People and I – and the Doomguard. This is not an idle threat, it is forewarning of what’s to pass. If you disbelieve, I suggest that Harmonium patrolmen check their badges. You could not stop me then, you will not stop me now. The King has spoken and so let it be done!

"Khazeet, you will now incinerate this missive or the same threat shall be fulfilled.”

With a growl and frown, Khazeet slams his hand down upon the parchment to instantly burn it to ash. Should any Harmonium officers overhear the herald and check their badge, they discover their badges are gone.

What looks like a female Hiver wearing thick cloak would go around the various merchants, buying random things and for some reason insisting to trade valuable gems, jewelry and other small trinkets instead of buying with gold.

It's apparant that the trinkets are worth more than what she uses them to pay for, yet she insists.

Shortly after the Hiver buys away a trinket or two from Layla, the hag glances about searching for the payment and exclaims, “Damn that King! He pilfered my jewels!”

Shale then checks for his own and roars, “Blasted! Mine too! I’m filing an official complaint with the Hardheads!”
