With the disappearance of Khari and any other healers at the Weary Spirit, and the recent robbery of the unattended facility Kiera has agreed to start helping when she has time. She shows up, during her spare time, in a plain gray smock - quite out of character - and uses her mundane and magical healing skills to tend to the sick and wounded. Her cooking skills are directed at the kitchen which she restocks from her own pocket.

Lys could very often be seen in attendance with Kiera, primarily attempting to help out with the kitchen, or pitching in to fund supplies where she could, as she hadn't magical healing abilities or extensive training in a healer's art. She did try to look over Kiera's shoulder now and then at the healer was at her work.

One evening there is a commotion from downstairs. The cry for a healer goes up and the woman staffing what passes for reception.

"I've got a man down here who is burned up pretty bad! We need a healer quickly!"

((assuming Kiera is close, or working at the Weary at the time, she would rush to the main level to see what's happened. When she isn't there she leaves one of her aides (not in uniform) to act as messenger and log visitors.))

Rushing into the main level Kiera would quickly take stock of the situation, who is there, how many, and a quick triage of the patient. She'd waste little time getting the man onto the table if he looks unable to stand on his own. While cutting away his clothing she'd ask firmly as she scanned his injuries to determine what would be needed (will get you heal ranks when I log in in a bit),

"Sir, do you know where you are? Can you tell me what happened?"

If unresponsive or incoherent she would turn to whoever brought him in (if someone did).

"What happened? Do you know his name?"

If he was alone she would just set to work finding the worst of the injuries to start. Due to her current patron she is unable to sacrifice for healing spells but she has a few memorized and would use those first on the worst of the wounds, cleaning them first to make sure no foreign objects are 'healed into' the flesh. Once out of healing spells (if it takes all four of them, cure crit, mod x2 and light) she would turn to her mundane skills and her healing kits to find salve and bandages.

The patient is a tall muscular and bald human male. He is being supported by one of the infirmary's workers. Kiera can smell burning flesh, she can see there is only one burn but it is a bad one.

"What happened to me love doesn't matter. Can you fix it?"

He is firm in his rsponse but not aggressive. He grits his teeth through the pain. Kiera soon realizes she knows what happened to him the mark is very clear. It was made by a wyvern shaped Mercykiller branding iron. The inscription beneath it marks the man as a murderer. The wound is fresh. Should she decide to go ahead and heal him it is well within her capabilities to treat.

((Oh you evil evil DM ;P ))

Minor changes to the above!

After seeing the man's wound she nods firmly. "I can fix it so that you will not die of infection or lose the flesh around it."

She opens her healing kit and takes out some salve and bandages, quite used to dealing with burns. She's also very skilled in healing wounds and leaving the scar tissue, one might say it's her own personal specialty.

"Sit there," she indicates the table before preparing to put the antiseptic paste on the wound and bind it.

He sits down as told to. As she dresses the wound her patient, a large bull of a man does not flinch or fidget. He curses a little but over all could be considered a model patient. By the time she has finished the brand remains, but there was probably no means of getting rid of it anyway The Mercykillers enchanting their irons so as that the marks they leave resist simple spells, but she is sure the wound is clean and will not go septic and should the dressing be changed regularly it will remain so. When she is finished he smile.

"I know this place is not run for profit, but this is for you."

He hands Kiera a wood carving of a parrot, a Xaos coin.

Kiera nods and accepts the coin, dropping it in a separate pocket of her hip bag she has reserved to pay for more supplies for the infirmary. She hands over a small clay jar and some clean bandages.

"Change that dressing every morning and night for the next four days. There's enough ointment in there to last you. It will dull the pain and keep the wound from festering."

Compassion and mercy seem to win out over duty for now. Quite what Lovitar might make of this is something for Theologians, but Kiera has recently met the followers of another power who would approve.

The man takes the spare bandages she offers and leaves quickly, presumably not wishing to bring the wrath of The Red Death crashing down on the place. He has no idea how close he was to them.

While Kiera was out on her duties for the day, Lys arrived at the Weary with a number of purchased supplies, salves and bandages and the willow and nettle that had been proscribed by the healer's directive.

The aasimar set to organizing and inventorying the stocks she'd purchased, and otherwise tending towards cooking and aiding with the tending to minor injuries that might have arrived as best as her meagre skill allowed.
