Rooftop Tap Dance

It was again twilight; the moonless Sigil skyline grew dark with shadows and smoke. The city streetlamps and windows lit up like stars.
Everywhere, life was teeming, but with a different sort of mien to it. Risk and trepidation laid heavy on the air and every time she drew a breath in, the bittersweet taste of anxiety spilled in too. She wanted to gag; her stomach felt sick and her hands trembled as they grasped the gutter's edge. Fingers stung where they bit the concrete and already her knuckles grew feeble. If she were to let go...
At that, her eyes rolled down to stare at the gap below.
She started to panic.
