Undead Grafting Research

As pale masters have already done extensive research on undead grafts, Brogar would call a conference between Mazey the gnome enchanter/tinkerer and a knowledgable pale master whose discretion could be bought for jink. Both their times would be paid for on an hourly basis as to how one might graft a both mechanical and undead eye into one's face. Just like the Bodak's eye graft,

((from the libris mortis source book))

. . . but quite possibly a little more complicated.

Both the Gnome and the Pale Master, a gaunt woman calling herself Silverhair, are puzzled by what they see.

The living flesh is still fresh, the borders between undead and living tissue and the metal are very hard to tell, all three components merged together by someone possessing great skills.

The metal seems to be some exotic alloy they cannot identify but they confirm that Conjuration and Necromantic energies are at work there- and they work together and not eagainst each other...

Brogar inquires as to whether it is feasible that it be experimentally grafted to where one of his eyes is currently, and the odds of success at it still allowing him to see, and the possible repercussions of said graft.

Both of them are not sure of how to even start with this- the methods involved too complex for each of them to master.

The Palemaster says that the matal serves as some kind of catalyst but Mazey tells Brogar that they are not even sure what this metal is- even if the alloy seems familiar somehow.

Brogar then asks if the single remains could theoretically be "reanimated" independent of the rest of the connecting tissue for further study.

Now this triggers a rather lively discussion between the two sages and after some time they both agree that it should be possible. if someone can construct a device that replicates the delicate balance between life and death in this item.

Brogar interjects during a pause in the conversation with,

"What if magical potions of both natures were used to create an environment that stimulates the latent properties in the item? A stasis of both healing potions and harming potions that do not mix, but are both surrounding the item. Oil and water, but in a way that there is a seal between each side of the larger potion? Then, if that does not work, release the stasis of the potions to where they mix evenly because of the previous stasis to stimulate the item into being "revived?""

They both pause, giving him one of those looks sages give those 'laymen' who dare to interrupt their most smart and important discussion.

But then they lookat each other again, both thinking about what he had said.

"It should be possible....", Silverhair begins only to be interrupted by the gnome: "It is not possible! The conflicting energies would anihilate each other or cause a new, absomutely unknown effect!"

"This is absolutely unknown." Silverhair says dryly, points at Brogar's device. "Indeed this should not even be possible."

"Yes but the risk to..." Mazey starts to be interrupted by Silverhair this time. "Risk! Tell me about risk!", she says lifts her grafted hand. "There are risks but they are worth taking!"

"Foolish!" Mazey cries, shaking his head. "You will need a catalysator. Or better said a.. a.. emulsifying agent. Like those helping to mix oil and water! Without that it cannot work."

"Why? Just try it!", the woman hisses. "Stop hiding nehind books and theories, just try it!"

Becoming aware of Brogar's presence again both calm down and Mazey then says: "The decision is yours. It is a bold plan, you can try- but I would advice against it. You need more research."

But of course this results in a snort and the woman shaking her head, mumbling something about risks and how they can pay off....

"Ye neither need be present for the attempt, though if you would help me form the vessel, I would be glad to pay for your time and materials. And tip.

I can buy the potions myself from the dusties and healers about the wards.

I just need both of your ~extensive expertise~ in creating the vessel within which the attempt will be made. And I will not mention either of you if something bad should happen."

After a moment's pause . . .

"Would the dried blood of a lich help as an agent to draw the two together? Once alive, now undead?"
