Long after Neli had taken her leave of the House, and Saiph lay abed, Mistress Maelfina Sixthfinger summoned her servant to her chambers. Sultra found her mistress waiting, enthroned on one of her plush chairs. Soon after her audience with Maelfina, the succubus in disguise was admitted into the locked and guarded garden of the House of Six Fingers, where she spoke the words "All Praise to the Ebon Prince" and stepped forward into the abyssal portal before her.

Regulars at the establishment who payed a close eye to such things noted that the usually restricted traffic into that forbidden chamber was greater than usual of late, with men and women of various shapes and descriptions spotted amongst the usual sensate admittees. Some sods claim that these strangers all are the enigmatic Mistress Sixthfinger herself in various magical and mundane disguises. But most put forward the counterargument that those sods have been into their cups too deeply.

Those caught staring at the comings and goings of the locked room are usually taught to mind their own business soon enough though, and none too gently. Whatever the truth of the matter is, the chant is clear on one thing: something has set the bee hive buzzing.

No solid answers would be gained just more of the same rumors that are floating around except one major detail.

As she travels, you notice the swelling of numbers as the amount of personal armies and bodyguards rise dramatically. There is a noticeable tension among the high ranking members of the abyssal hierarchy as it feels like even they have no idea what's going on.

Sides are being choosen..

The past and next few weeks shady figures ,mostly human and of fiendish background ,Common hivers in dark clothing and not very talkative have been over shadowing The House of six fingers. They seemed quiet trained.
They would not answer if asked for intents of standing around the streets all day.

There was two on the roof tops that could view the entrance directly and three others walking around the block where the house was stationed.

They didn't ever seem to ask to come in but take notes of who ever entered and left the establishment at any time.

*The Mistress of the House sends out a handful of errand-runners to examine the property holdings within her sphere of influence, looking for a small, inconspicuous two-story house with ample kitchen arrangements...perhaps a soup-kitchen that is in debt or closed. When the owners are tracked down, either in their place of business or via Guvner-recorded deeds, they are asked what their offering price would be for her.

The Chant around the Hive is that the House is expanding, though other darkmongers insist that the Mistress of the House acts on behalf of another prospective businessman or woman.

Curiously, some of the local darkmongers have spotted the Black and Blues (as Maelfina's security personnel are called in the Hive) surveying the "water"front property by the Ditch, testing the soil and/or cobbles there for firmness and stability while others test various materials in the murkey sludge that drifts past. The more canny observers figure they might be testing to see what ill effects prolonged exposure to the Ditch might have on said materials.

One Xaositect can be heard proclaiming that Maelfina plans to make war on the river of sewage with the bombs she has been manufacturing, but per usual, most cutters don't listen to barmy Chaosmen

The darkmongers have gotten creative in their screed, claiming that the real reason Mover Chari visits the House is to partake in its pleasures, not to heal and council the employees. Most savvy cutters note that this is nonsense however.

((As a RP note to all concerned. Chari, and several other casters of the divine have been RPing healing and counseling Mael's employees in matters of faith since this operation began. In a setting where casters (and paladins) can cure diseases at the drop of a hat, it would be somewhat stupid to assume that a well-funded brothel would not have several healers on staff to keep folks clean even if there wasn't ample PC RP involved to reinforce this fact.))

Gwen's lab in one of the housing projects owned by Maelfina is subject to a deluge of packages, primarily containing samples of incense from all across the Wheel. As a result of the subsequent experiments, that particular corner of the Hive earns the moniker "The Sweet House" among the cagers that frequent the House of Six Fingers.

For many turns of the Wheel, the House of Six Fingers and its matron remained quiet...or as quiet as such a place is wont to be. Business continued at a suitable pace, Hivers and sods from all over the Cage came and went, and in spite of all the conflicts and minor wars that had since broken out in the Hive and beyond, the House and its surrounding housing have remained detached from it all.

The Black and Blues had remained more or less limited to patrolling the House's immediate surroundings, and the enigmatic mistress of the House had seemed content to watch and wait, rather than meddle in the affairs of the Ward.

Some berks claimed that her power and influence had waned, or that she'd secretly been captured or killed. Other darkmongers insisted that Maelfina had been planning something big, and that any day now the House and its resources would spring into action.

Whatever the truth behind all the screed, one thing is certain: The House of Six Fingers is no longer completely idle. Maelfina herself has been seen walking the streets of the Cage once again, and her Black and Blue enforcers seem to be preparing for action...though what action, and where, remains unclear.

Movement can be seen by interested parties between the House and the Bottle and Jug. Sods more in on the dark know that applechasers, as well as some of the House regulars have been frequenting the portal within to the Quasi-Elemental Plane of Salt. Frequent patrons note that a new drink soon becomes available to the foolhardy or fiendish: The Salted Quasit, a concoction of saltwater and ooze from the so named Quasi and Paraelemental planes, with a dash of muck from Jubilex' portal on the Salt, the Festering Sore.

Maybe those sods are just getting ingredients for Lady Sixthfinger, but then again, maybe that succubus down the street just really wants to be your friend, berk.
