The Order of the Planes Militant
Nicknames: The Brethren, The Faithful, The Children of Heaven
Headquarters: Celestia (Solania)
Alignment: LG
Traditional Faction Allies: Harmonium, Guvners (Cordial), Mercykillers (Grudging)
Traditional Faction Enemies: Doomguard, Athar, Bleak Cabal
Hierarchy:
-Prefect (Sectol - Current: Prefect Increase VII)
-Metropolitan (Spiritual Advisor - Current: Purity III), Keeper of the Seals (Arcane Advisor - Current: Indigo the Stutterer)
-Marshal (General)
-Housewarden (Monastery/Keep Administrator) - ((Not possible in Sigil currently, as it lacks a base of operations for the Order))
-Watchman/Watchwoman (Lieutenant)
-Crusader (Common Soldier)
-Lay-Brother/Lay-Sister (Namer)
Goals:
An old and venerable Sect with official backing from the Archons of Celestia, the Order of the Planes Militant has simple, but lofty goals: The Order seeks the promotion of Law and Good, and the eradication of Evil. To achieve these aims, the Brethren work to encourage and obtain willing converts to the cause of Law and Good outside of the Lower Planes, seek to thwart Lower Planar influence wherever it can be found, and wage direct war against fiendish strongholds whenever possible.
Membership:
The Order is open to any race and class, but a cutter has to be Lawful Good. Paladins are the most likely sods to feel at home in the Order, as it operates in a very similar fashion to many Prime paladin orders or brotherhoods.
Once someone signs up for the Order, they are subject to a two-week long observation period in which they are monitored by the local Watchman. If the subject is considered "good" enough by the Watchman, he may take an Oath of Fealty to the local Marshal. Once this has occurred, the subject is considered a Lay-Brother or Lay-Sister. From there, through good deeds and outstanding service to the Faithful, the person may be promoted to higher ranks. A great majority of Faithful remain Lay-Persons all their life, however.
Brethren are always able to seek succor from fellow Brethren. If another member of the Order appears in your doorstep, it is your duty to take him in, feed him, tend to his wounds and help him in any way possible. To turn away a fellow Faithful is dishonorable and evil, and to do so is an excellent way to be removed from the Order.
In return, the Order requests that all members swear oaths of fealty, chastity and poverty, similar to the oaths sworn by paladins. A member of the Order may never disobey a superior, no matter what. Unless the mission assigned to you is obviously evil or chaotic, you must complete it. In the event that an order is in someway evil, a Brethren must report this to his superior's superior. Also, a Faithful may only keep as much jink as he needs to maintain a moderate standard of living, as well as other necessities, such as a horse, armor, weaponry, etc. The rest should be donated to some worthy cause (although preferably to the Order).
RP Notes:
The key thing to bear in mind as a missionary/warrior of Law and Good in Sigil, is the Order's good relations with the Harmonium. A member of the Order isn't going to disrupt the Harmonium's peace trying to chase down anyone with wings or horns (especially as that wouldn't be giving everyone a fair shake), but they WOULD be scrupulous about reporting witnessed crimes or suspicious activities to the Harmonium, and assisting the Harmonium (so long as the actions undertaken aren't obviously evil/suspicious themselves) where requested or obviously necessary.
