Harmonium Murder Files
The Murder of Gina Bas'rah

Eyewitness Report per Harmonium Investigation:

wrote: Name: Lykzathra Venfriti (nickname: Lykza)

Occupation: Seamstress, Resident (lives with Husband)

What she witnessed:

She was sitting in her room, tending to some clothes when a blood-curdling shriek awoke her from the tedium of her daily activities. She rushed to the window to catch a skeg of what was going on, and there she saw Gina Velorian – a neighbor of hers-  on the roof frantically trying to flee. She was unable to make out any other figures on the roof but Gina seemed extremely frightened and agitated. Her movements were described as shaking and glancing about about in a terrified fashion - as if someone was about to jump out at her any second. Gina was on the roof for about 20 seconds (at least since Lykza was observing through the window), then she seemed to lose her balance near the ledge and fall to her death.

Harmonium report generated from compiled witness reports in the bazaar area at the time of the murder:

wrote:Gina Bas'rah – a young female human affiliated with the Sign of One- expired approximately 1 hour before antipeak. Cause of death is yet to be determined.

From piecing together eyewitness reports as well as evidence from the crime scene, the believed sequence of events is as follows:

An unknown entity caused a great degree of fear and anxiety within Gina Bas'rah, causing her to frantically run atop her apartment's roof. Her long dress was caught on the short railings surrounding the roof, and lead to her trip and fall 5 stories below. At this point it is unclear whether she was dead before or after striking her head on the street. Her facial expression is nearly identical to that of another recent murder - that of Victoria Swanson. There is suspicion that the murders are related.

Suspected Cause of Death: Murder

Suspects: Fated Factor Ziporath

Recommendations:
1) Investigation team has scoured the area and gathered evidence, collecting a single feather in the process. Will be examined and analyzed by Harmonium task force.
2) Due to bizarre nature of murders, and possible psionic etiology- coordinate with S94IT.

Author: Harmonium Measure IV Kristopher Narel

NOTE: The body has been sent to the Coroner in the Mortuary for autopsy.

Harbinger House Documents

Excerpts from the log of Alexander Wallin, inmate and student.

There was a new arrival today, a young woman who was heavily sedated. One of the guards carried her inside on his arms. She was wearing a hood though it didn't cover her face, just most of her hair. I only caught a glimpse as I was passing between classrooms, looking down at the ground lobby from atop the grand staircase, but she was beautiful. She had dark hair, dark eyes, and dark clothing.

They call her Subject 94. I went by her room today. I crouched by her door and put my ear against it, but couldn't hear anything. It was the middle of the night. I stood there for two hours. I went back to my room. I closed my door. When I lay myself down to bed, I heard voices. New voices not like the voices I usually hear. I was scared, but also excited. The new voices were showing me new things.

I helped her escape! They didn't see me. They never see me until it's too late. I imagined fire and it sprung forth from her door, it sprung forth from the walls and it descended. It made a path for her and she made for the door. She gave me a kiss before I left. I was punished for this, and the punishments were painful, but it was worth it.

I was sneaking around in the Warden's office. He doesn't know. He'll never know! I saw her files, her history. I was careful. They'll never know! The Warden labels her Subject 94, like I was labeled Subject 56. She had a real name before she came here though: Kathryn.

Harbinger House Research Division. Subject 94; Laboratory Observation: Entry 1 (Two weeks prior to escape)

**Note: all researchers and guards have been equipped with specially made anti-psionic amulets shipped from Factol Vergrove's office.**

Subjective:

Subject looks nourished, but skin pallor suggests iron deficiency. She appears distraught, despite entrance protocol and explanations. She refuses to eat, drink, or even address the researchers.

Objective:

No nausea or vomiting observed. Subject's skin is cold to palpation.
Ambient temperature is decreased significantly within a 10 ft radius of subject. No magical auras detected. Subject is responsive to abrupt, surprising stimuli - like a loud clap heard in the room (eg. Blinking, body straightening, facial contortion).

Plan:
1) Encourage ambulation and eating..
2) Encourage subject to converse: employ calm, friendly, non-threatening demeanor.
3) Plan to be modified/ followed up pending notes of night-time chamber scryer.

*Observation completed after 45 minutes. Subject escorted to chambers.

Harbinger House Research Division. Subject 94; Night Shift Scry: Entry 1

4 hours before Antipeak
Subject enters room with guarded escort. Once alone, subject stands and looks directly at the far wall of the room. Disregards dinner placed in room.

2 hours before Antipeak
Subject has not budged from spot - she does not appear to have a noticeable baseline tremor that is normal for human subjects who attempt to stand still.

Antipeak - 5 hours after antipeak
Subject remains still, continues to stare at far wall.

Harbinger House Research Division. Subject 94; Laboratory Observation: Entry 9

Subjective:

Subject 94 appears to have lost a significant amount of weight since admission- cheekbones are sunken, the area around her mouth is dry, and the dark circles around her eyes have deepened in shade. She appears halfway to death.

Many of the researchers have noted hearing an inexplicable, loud, high-pitched humming noise during the experiments. Several have gotten transient, but severe headaches during certain procedures. A few insisted that Subject 94 is responsible, though this was disproven by verifying the integrity and working condition of the anti-psionic amulets.

Objective:

Subject's skin is cold to palpation. She remains unresponsive to visual, acoustic, tactile, and painful stimuli. She no longer winces or shows signs of pain during electroconvulsive therapy. There is a thick horizontal burn-mark across her forehead from the repeated electrocutions.

Plan:
1) Maintain intravenous fluid injections to keep subject hydrated, and tubal feeding of food bolus to keep subject nourished.
2) Continue with the following experiments
- Electroconvulsive
- Extreme temperature tolerance
- Body's response to trauma
- Resilience to corrosive gas
- Resilience to poisonous gas
*NOTE: Sleep deprivation experiments unnecessary as Subject has not slept since arrival.*
3) Keep resuscitation team at the ready in case subject's vital signs diminish greatly during experiments.
4) Plan to be modified/ followed up pending notes of night-time chamber scryer.

*Observation completed after 15 minutes. Experiments concluded after 6 hours. Post experiment observations and recovery maintained for an additional 2 hours to ensure subject does not expire. Subject escorted to chambers via stretcher.*

Harbinger House Research Division. Subject 94; Night Shift Scry: Entry 9

3 hours before Antipeak
Subject enters room on stretcher with guarded escort - placed upon bed, and administered healing potion for blood loss.

Antipeak
Subject remains in bed, immobile. She looks to be in great pain.

7 hours after antipeak
I must have dozed off. The subject is not in the room- she must have been escorted out of the room for morning experiments. I'm not sure how long I was out.

The Gembright Initiative

Within the polluted bowels of the Great Foundry are sizable sections of the building off limits to the vast majority of Foundry workers. One of these sections is devoted to the Gembright Initiative, a secretive sub-group of Godsmen savvy in psionics.

The initiative has been there for as long as anyone (aware of its existence) can remember, and questions have arisen as to how it has been so successful in remaining a secret. Perhaps it's good planning and security but the suggestion has been made that the psionically inclined within the initiative have been rearranging or deleting select memories from any unauthorized leak of information. At any rate, they are one of the best-kept secrets in the Foundry.

Like many sections of the Foundry, their section features numerous scraps of metal, tools, forges, a disproportionately high number of alchemists and arcane enchanters, and the highest number of psions in the Foundry. Indeed, there are few psions within the Believers of the Source who do not at least indirectly work for the Gembright Initiative.

The current leader of the initiative is a wary blood named Rehsaaz - a tiefling psion of no small means and ability. Throughout the last two decades, he has overseen the construct of numerous powerful and/or useful items of power which have then been sold to wealthy buyers (the identity of whom remain secret). Though there are only a few items created and sold by the Gembright Initiative, the return is so high that their profits pay for themselves several times over, as admitted by Factol Vergrove. It is because of their high profitability that the Gembright Initiative enjoys a great degree of autonomy when it comes to their direction and operations.

The Subject 94 Investigation team is tentatively allied with the Gembright Initiative, and one of their recent projects has been to develop an anti-psoinic mechanid that will be capable of capturing or killing Subject 94.

Known members: Rehsaaz, Kallista
Known Projects: 3 (3 is not the number of projects they are currently involved in, 3 is the name of a mechanid)
