News spreads fast through the Cage that a moderately well-known fugitive is to be executed within the next couple of days. She is contained in a highly secure area of the Prison - guarded around the clock by some of the Red Death's elite.

*While Julius is hardly among the Mercykiller's elite he keeps his eyes open, taking notes about those who linger outside the prison too long or seem too curious about Mercykiller business these days.*

A figure steps out of the shadow that permeates through the room. He is dressed in tight charcoal embossed leathers and wears a tight helm that covers the entirety of his face and head. His eyes are hidden behind a long slit that goes across the front of the helm. It seems to be covered with some sort or darkened, yet enchanted, glass. The leathers are held in place by a myriad of dull black buckles that seem to bend and flex as he moves, yet make no sounds at all. His limbs appear almost like “wisps of smoke” when he nears dark shadows of the room. It is obvious that he has a direct, and very close, connection to the realm of shadow. On the upper arms of his armor, visible to those who make an effort to look, one can see a small Anarchist emblem on one arm and a small flaming bird on the other.

He looks amongst those who have gathered and pauses on each one… like he’s trying to look beyond any tough façade they might currently carry in an effort to see the real intent that lies below.

He reaches into a tight pocket on one thigh and takes out a tightly rolled up piece of vellum. He rolls it out on the table for all gathered to see. It is a map, albeit an older version, of the Mercykiller stronghold and prison. As he traces his gloved finger across the surface of the map, he speaks
.

“This map shows the Red Deaths stronghold as it was just over a year and a half ago. I doubt much has changed except for the debtors wing and a few other renovations.” He points to four marked X’s on the map. “These are old disposal tunnels that once led to the rats nest in UnderSigil. Do not count on them being accessible at this point. Their existence has caused the Red Death some complications in the past and they have likely been sealed.” He points to another corridor; “This direction is where they house the most dangerous, yet not quite dead, prisoners. It is heavily guarded and fortified. You need to pass through the courtyard and re-enter the prison in the north wing. There are three separate doors to pass before you actually enter the cellblock. Cells are set far enough apart that prisoners cannot reach each other. Magic is touch and go in this area. You’ll find most incantations and enchantments do not work. This area, knowing our targets reputation, is where they probably house her. Our task is to get into that area.

Now before you start with the questions about how I know so much… I’ve done this before… about a year and a half ago. We gassed the whole damn Lady’s Ward to distract enough troops to get inside that place and out with our target. They were as high as kites so it was relatively simple once inside. I imagine it’ll be much more difficult this time. Look over the map… and don’t be afraid to spitball some ideas… even what you might think are dumb ideas… anything’s possible”

New details have come to light to the Mercykillers. It is believed that Kaori Suzume might have planted hidden explosives in the debtors wing of the Prison. Specialists have started to bolster security around her by adding more guards as well as placing her within an anti-magic field. Sweepers have started thoroughly scanning all areas of the prison for explosives, and the Harmonium have sent numerous reinforcements to the Prison who are to remain there regardless of occurrences in the city. Less-experienced reserves from Arcadia have been summoned to fill in the shoes of the usual patrolmen.

A Mercykiller named Rinko has been suspended from guard duty after he was caught breaking Kaori's arms and legs, then attempting to prematurely execute her via suffocation during a few moments without supervision.

She remains alive, though those in charge of her captivity unanimously agreed to not administer healing.

Uncamouflaging himself, Rith steps forward with a smile as he addresses Phoenix.

"You know, this seems like the kind of job where a little bit of subterfuge can be useful. So let me put my two jink in here." The hatted man says with a smirk.

"See, I've got a bit of experience dealing with bombs. More to the point, I pack about 100 bombs on my person at any given time for just such a scenario. More importantly, I've learned a few interesting things.

Bombs have three primary means of detonation: Fuse, Remote, and Manual. If Kaori has indeed planted bombs in the viscinity, she most likely would have used a remote means of detonation. Most likely magical. And the detonator will detonate the bombs even if the bombs are inside of an anti-magic field. After all...it doesn't matter where the bombs are....only where the detonator lies.

As long as the detonator is kept outside of an anti-magic field, we have an ace up the sleeve. We just have to find where she kept it. Once we have access to that, a well-placed explosion, or series of explosions, would be sufficient enough to create a suitable distraction. Which means that one of us would need to get inside the prison.....

...and the best way to do that is for somebody to get arrested." The changeling says with a wry grin.

"I have a reputation for alchoholism. That, and I'm a pretty damn good unarmed fighter when I have to be. That's why I recommend...this." The Changeling pulls out a regular looking bottle of whiskey.

"This bottle is no ordinary bottle. This bottle is made out of Blood-glass. It looks mundane, but this bottle is actually as tough as Adamantine. Given the long neck of the bottle, it can be used as a good weapon if the need arises. In addition.." The changeling pulls out the cork of the bottle. Attached to the cork of the bottle is a long, thin stiletto blade.

"A shank if I need it. The cork itself is also hollow: It can hold a vat of acid and a lockpick if I need it to."

The Changeling turns to each person in unison.

"The standard fare for public inebriation is nothing more than a night in prison. They have a special holding cell in a low-security wing of the Mercykiller prison that they refer to, affectionaly, as the 'Drunk Tank.' I know this personally because I've spent more than one night there. The smell of vomit and urine is not something that readily leaves one's memory. But more importantly..."

The Changeling's look becomes deadly serious

"More importantly, they don't bother taking the possessions of somebody who is simply drunk. They won't take the bottle. I know their procedures too well. I'll have to leave the rest of my magical goodies at home...but the bottle will at least give me an improvised weapon and some things to sneak in. It's very well built. I had Protector Mark XIV build it himself."

"So...sound good?"

The darkly clad man turned and looked at Rith for a long momentÂ… saying nothing and only watching him. He then looked back at the map before continuing.

“I know all about explosives, Tophat… if you knew anything about me… you’d at least know that. There will come a time in this plan to use them but we need to determine exactly when that time is.

Your idea of getting thrown in the tank is interesting but will do little to get us where we need to be. First off, the Red Death guards inside the prison walls will not abandon their posts. At the most youÂ’ll simply distract the guards in the drunk-tankÂ… and I can assure youÂ… theyÂ’re not the cream of the crop in the first place for being assigned there. If anythingÂ… all your plan will do is force the troops deeper in to assume a prison break or attack is in progress and theyÂ’ll double the guard and send out patrols
.
No… we’ll have to use a different tactic… and I think I have an idea.”

He silently steps back into the darkness and completely vanishes in a wisp of shadow. A few seconds later he steps back into the light carrying a rucksack. He drops it on the table and opens it. Inside are two Harmonium uniforms, both have a badge sitting on top. He continuesÂ…

“These are legitimate uniforms and legitimate badges still considered active yet not missing or fused with an officer... albeit they’re older ones. They were given to me by a friend about six months ago when we were planning… other ideas. ((Given by DM Duke in preparation to attack a Harmonium Spelljammer armada, an event that was never completed)) I have more than this but we needn’t worry about the number at this time ((actually has 6 in case we get more folks)).

The Harmonium will probably be in and out of the cell area posing questions to the prisoner in an attempt to solve a backlog of cases attached to her. We’ll need to find the officers going in, make them vanish and then enter in their stead. We’d have to use care to ensure they disappear ‘after’ they sign out of the Barracks and not before. The paper trail needs to exist. We’d need their documents. We would then become the Harmonium detail the Mercykillers are expecting.

We get to herÂ… then we get to work and kill a few Mercykillers guards. If she can help out then she helps us on the escape. If sheÂ’s banged up real good then we need to ensure we have the proper tools to fix her up. Scrolls and such are not my specialtyÂ… I donÂ’t care for written magic too much. WeÂ’d need someone who could read greater healing scrollsÂ… or greater restorationsÂ… to get her standing.
Arming her wouldnÂ’t be a problem. IÂ’m sure we could manage that. Getting out, however, would be difficult. IÂ’m sure we could make it to the courtyard easy enough but thatÂ’s where weÂ’d hit the wall of troopsÂ…

At this point in time I suggest we unleash devastation on our waiting friends. We empty all the cells in the wing and flush them into the courtyard. When the shit hits the fan and the area is consumed with smoky chaos, we join the fray and make our way out.

It is at this junction I suggest a use for our new friend here…” said as he motions to Dakkon.

He looks at Dakkon “You’re going to have to organize and guide any allies we have outside the prison while this goes on. You need to make sure you can get the wagon into position without being stopped and then make sure you can get inside to wait on your next step. You need to go inside the entrance wing to the prison and set off our gifts that we’ll give you. It’ll cause just enough chaos in the entry wing for us to safely enter from the courtyard and fight to the exit. We’ll need that wagon in place for a damn big distraction for the troops that’ll be converging on the area. That will take some planning in and of itself to get it there and set. That kind of blast isn’t going to be gained from a few pocket bombs. We’ll need something carted into the area… something big. You’ll” *points to Dakkon again* “need to make sure it gets into position and readied before you enter the prison.”

He looks to those gathered

“Is this a lot of work to break out one prisoner? Damn right it is… but it’s also a chance to humiliate the Red Death… to hit ‘em deep at home… again. I broke into the prison before and they’ve never gotten over it. If I did it again… it’d kill half of them in humiliation.”

The changeling pipes up

"Your plan sounds solid. And indeed, it could work. I'd be more than happy to join you on the inside...except for one very key thing."

The Changeling sighs deeply.

"I don't kill. Not innocents. I may seem bloodthirsty at times, but it's all an act....I've never killed an innocent person. I never will. These Mercykiller Guards...they are people too. They are doing their jobs, putting criminals in jail. Are some of them corrupt? Absolutely. But I've known several good members of the Mercykillers who just legitimately want to put bad people away. And I'm not about to just kill them all and let the Gods sort them out. It goes against my principles. Because I am better than them."

He looks Phoenix straight in the eye. "Infiltration is my specialty. In fact, I'm probably the only person in this building who is as good at it as you...if not better."he smirks. "Take me along if you need me. But if I go...I won't spill any blood. Not unless it is the absolute final resort. Capiche?"

He stands and awaits an answer.
