Kala carefully studied the matter of the pylon trying to figure if it was made out of the same matter as the Golems, or any more mundane materials. Then she used divination spells to scry it, lore begin one of her clerical domains.

The metal involved is indeed the same alloy and after examining it closer she realizes that the crystal would need a stead influx of two opposing energies to be activated.

Those energies whould be able to coexist while being stored and could even be merged to form something new but the process itself is difficult to do.

Judging the experience too dangerous to be made in the foundry itself, the Factor asked for the artifact to be moved to one of the many demiplanes that existed within the foundry confines, one where the experiment could be conducted without bringing the unwanted attention of her serenity or risking lives pointlessly.

Once everything was set up back in the new "laboratory", Kala asked for the creation of two recipients able to hold both negative and positive energy for a long time, a few days or weeks would be enough. She then tried to search how to find ways to convey safely those energies within the crystal.

Moving the device is a smart move as calculations show that the amount of power stored is tremedous and if released at once would lead to widespread destruction.

Her team starts to work in the devices she wants and soon she is approached by one of the factioneers involved:

"Factor, we have found two ways to build the devices you need. One is a solid state capacitator, involving metals and crystals attunred to the energies to hold them. They are quite expensive and while I am sure they can hold the charge for at least a year they might be prone to burning out under stress quickly.

The other one would be based on a charged fluid and while the charge might start to fade after a week it is easier to control.

Noth kind of device will need different ways to connect to the crystal- the solid capacitator can be connected through wires and metal rods while for the fluid it is possible to let it wash over the crystal's surface, making charging it slower but also harder to control."

It took some time for Kala to ponder her decision, for her knowledge of mecha-magical devices was rather elementary and both choices with many pros and cons. Listening to her instinct she finally made her choice.

- We should go with the fluid for now, this seems to be the simplest solution, these energies must flow and we'll make sure they do it as precisely as we can.

She then reached to inspect the crystal one last time before she returned to her laboratory. She then went into the library looking treaties about energy crystals and their magic. This wasn't the first time she had to deal with these kind of device, but it was perhaps time to understand them better, how they could be used to make energies transit from a point to another. As she kept reading she had a reminiscence, crystals floating in the middle of the endless fields, charged with the power of the elements, the sacrifice of one soul...

She shook her head, it was time to conduct the first experiment and to observe the unnatural interaction of both energies within the confine of the device.

The aide retreats to see her orders are carried out and a few days later they approach her with working samples of a liquid capacitator and conductor.

"The substance is stable, we tried to charge it with spells and the fluid could hold the energies well.", the Factotum says.

The fluid is an oily, bluish alchemical mixture, shining white when charged with positive energy, dark purple when filled with negative energy.

Kala's research about crystals reveals that prepared rubies are suited best to hold negative and positive energy. Sapphires work as well and while they can store less they are more stable on the long term.

Then the experiment starts and under the tense, nervous eyes of Kala's research team the energies are transferred into the device. The first attempt fails- there was a bit too much negative energy, the fragile balance not achieved, the fluid ruined by the backlash.

Two more attempts are needed but then she can watch the two opposing kinds of energy become one in this crystal, become something new. The crystal is glowing, humming- the energy inside it ready to be used.

This is where the factor brought a magical weapon charger and asked it to be plugged with the machine. Her idea was simple, she'd try to enchant a weapon using these combined energies and see what would happen. She turned to speak with the Factotum.

- Do we have a magical forge here we could use to channel the energies of this crystal ? I think that's what we missed when we first tried to create the alloy.

The enchanting process could work- the crystal providing all energies needed for it- the enchanter herself just had to shape the energies with her spells. ((In PnP gameterms: The crystal provided the XP cost ))

At her request the aide thinks a bit. "What kind of magical forge, Factor? We have a few keyed to elements and are expeimenting with some that use concepts. What do you have in mind?"

Kala, pondered the question for a moment before she answered her aide.

- The elemental smelting furnace we have to shape and combine materials. I have good hopes that this crystal is what we need to channel the correct balance of forces to make the alloy that was used in the golem construction work this time. I'd prefer if we re-purposed one we already have, preferably an old and see how we can adapt it... If we can create this metal of pure neutrality, I have good hopes we may be able to solve one of the greatest riddles of the multiverse, even use it to channel the power of the source.

Kala noded

- Yes, let's follow the same plan and see how it goes this time.
