Divine Containment Vessel

Required Materials;

10 lbs worth of Glassteel Base Compound
3x3 inch "ingot" of Bloodglass
30 lbs of heated Quartz Sand
3 Parts per 10 Ratio of Quicklime to Quartz Sand
2 Parts per 10 Ratio of Soda Ash to Quartz Sand
4 Parts per 10 Ratio of Oxidized Lead to Quartz Sand
3 Gallons of Leaded Pitch
8 Steel Ingots (1lbs weight)
Post processed rubber for steel outer rings. Usage and amount required will vary.

Process;

Phase 1 - Crafting Components

The easy part of the process is concerned with crafting the staves and heads. This is just a typical mixture of Quartz Sand in 20 for 10 parts ratio to the Glassteel Compound. While heating the Base Compound, the Divine Channeler attending the crafting should begin "sewing" threads of divine power into the mix. Once this is in progress quick work must be made to add in the proper amount of oxidized lead, Soda Ash, and Quicklime then bring to a high temperature very quickly until the glowing mix is produced.

Once a low orange glow is achieved use a glass rod to dip and then follow standard procedure for rolling out the shapes. Having molds or a pattern on hand will be invaluable at this stage. Take special care to fully reduce any air bubbles within the glass before you let it begin set. The process of setting can be done very nicely in the hot sand pits. It will hold your pieces at a steady temperature until you are ready to construct.

With the pieces setting in the hot sand there should be time now to adjust your spigot as necessary for the tapping process at the end of the construction phase. This is the only piece that needs to cool down before it is used. As soon as you are done shaping, place it aside on one of the tile cooling racks to set.

When all of the pieces are formed and you are ready to move on to the construction phase. At this juncture the Crafter and Channeler can rest before you continue.

Phase 2 - Construction

Taking into consideration the dimensions provided in these notes, the Crafter should have nearly a pound or just slightly more of Glassteel remaining in the fire pit crucible. When you are ready to begin mix the Leaded Pitch in with the remaining compound. Add in a few handfuls of Quartz Sand from the sand pit into the mixture. You will know when you have added enough because bubbles will form in the top layers of the mix.

This is your key point and the Divine Channeler should resume weaving their divine threads once more into this mixture. When you can be sure the threads have woven a significant distance into the patching brew you should start construction.

Begin with a head to the ground and assemble staves in a clockwise deployment. Use the patching brew to weld the staves together. Half way though completion add the other head in. The spigot can be added as the final piece to the construction once the welding of the staves is done. This will allow the divine threads to work on the joining of the staves to a significant degree before the flows must be turned to addressing the final addition to the overall construction.

Conclusion;

The shape of the final product may vary here. Simply keep your patterns even to each side. Though we created a slightly more box like container, it is quite possible to make a more traditional barrel and achieve the same level of containment.

The fully constructed barrel should be placed into the sand pit or a kiln. Do not allow it to entirely cool until you are ready to contain what ever you have chosen to store within. After the container fully cools the Glassteel will set and make the inside of the container entirely inaccessible (except via the valve) without doing significant destructive damage to the container itself.

Production Notes:

1.) The Channeler working in this construction process MUST maintain the flows while the pieces are being shaped and then while the craft is assembled from the parts. Any fluctuation in this process will cause an uneven mixing of components and lessen the finished tensile strength of the finished product on both the physical and divine scale. To this end, we were fortunate to have another along who was tasked with watching the flows specifically for such deviations. With her help we managed, so far as I can discern, a congruently harmonized final product.

2.) For the heat source, the sand and fire pits in the Foundry work wonders for the needed temperatures. As there are also tools and equipment near at hands for glass production it was a near perfect setup. I would not suggest trying to perform such a process elsewhere or in other conditions.

3.) For future Crafters, do note that this compound always creates a heavier than normal mixture while hot. The higher addition of lead to the glass mixture is necessary for this process but adds significant weight. Remember to account for this difference in your selection of tools and your setting locations.

4.) I took the time to chisel the Bloodglass on the spot because I was certain of Lady Kala's ability to maintain the necessary flow of Divine power. You will need to craft the tapping end of the spigot from Bloodglass then coat the outer ends of it in the mixture of the Glassteel and shape it as desired.. Of course, this too must be done while threads of divine energy are moving within the piece of Bloodglass. If you are new to working with Bloodglass, or with the process of glass chiseling and filing, you may want to have a secondary divine caster at the ready to take over for this part of shaping.

4-A.) Forgot to note previously that you could likely do the Bloodglass part ahead of time. Just be sure you are using the same divine flows for both the Glassteel and Bloodsteel. The crystalline structures of both materials need to resonate the same physically and in their divine interweaving.

4-B.) As a small addendum here for clarification, the internal valve work for the spigot should be crafted of Glassteel and not Bloodglass. It should be crafted during the construction phase from the same material as the patching brew with Quartz Sand added. Formed of this, the valve should be significantly more pliant but no less strong.

Valve Compound - While more divine threads of power are channeled into the hot crucible add some of the patching brew to fresh Quarts Glass in 1 to 2 parts. A putty like texture will be achieved as long as you maintain sufficient heat. Do not allow the mixture to cool until you have it fully in shape and in place. In doing so the valve will expand into place and close off the spigot properly yet still remain ductile enough to open with heating and the proper tools at a later time.
