((watching, giving Azor time to answer before I write up my next answer in the research matter...

In the meanwhile- please give me a SC check for Mauric.

and there is...))

A messenger runs up to them, a mutilated twisted female tiefling, her left lower arm and hand replaces by a collection of saw blades and knives, her right shin broken and bent, held together by metal bands.

"Word from the Barracks. The Signer the hardheads took into protective custody just vanished- perhaps unmade, perhaps unnamed as few even now remember her existance and many records vanished."

"It could change the balance of power. The only advantage the bumbling dogs of Ortho have ever held against us is numbers; with abominations like this to produce in mass, that would come to naught."

The Athasian lets no sign of suprise at his mentor even using the word "indestructible" show; he would follow the Doomlord's lead as he had always done. At the news from the courier he looked at Mauric silently, gauging his reaction.

((36 +4 roll:40))

"One could conquer the verse with a army of these. Imagen innumerable flight of dragons made in this composition produced en mass. We could overthrow any force from the hells below to the heavens above." He said to his champion.

Looking to the newly arrival he was quick to remark. "Yet you remember her. How is this one related to this project? If she was one of the donors it may prove that these things have a limited lifspan or at least the donors are dramatically shorten. " He didn't mention their own rumoured namer's involvement just yet.

The demoness was only briefly distracted by the messenger and those news seem to be of no interest to her. She does not shirk away from the touch nor does she seek it- she seems focused, a huntress that found her prey.

Slicing off a small bit of undead flesh first she puts it on the table, then repeats the process with a bit of living tissue- and both fall prey to entropy fast, dying, decaying.

"All Energies have been used in mundane and magical forms and they proved to be appropriately destructive. Destoying these things is not hard at all for us- if you know what to do they are killed as easily as a mortal. It is just..."

She puts those pieces of flesh back to where they were and swiftly they are reabsorbed into the leg.

"...there are other properties they use for survival. Regeneration spells work just like any other infusion of positive or negative energy and heal those beings fine. Yet as they do not affect the metal it is impossible to use them to regrow limbs or major section of the body. The metal is the key."

And indeed this is confirmed by Mauric's own observations, his senses, attuned to magic, feeling how it is the metal that keeps everthing in balance, keeps the construct from blowing itself apart.

"However the soul link we can try- are you volunteering?", the demoness asks.

Xar'x on the other nodded at what Mauric said, then adds distractedly as he looks through some papers brought by the Tief.

"True, true... we also considered that only a few individuals of each species might fit as donors... "

As his voice is trailing off the Tiefling answers Mauric's question.

"No my lord- she was one of the targets. One of the reasons this constructs entered Sigil."

"So dislocating the flesh from the metal is enough. Have you tried to flense the metal completly? A lesser inconvinence, the metal could be well protected by outer plating." He continued to muse as if he considered how it would best would be implemented in practise.

"Some beings dismemebered body parts persists until it is completly destroyed by unique means. Trolls for example. Unless like I mentioned alredy the soul or something emulating the resonance of a soul is within the metal of each body part."

He gave Azor a telling look the Atheseian would sense it even though his face was overed by the black plates. Knowing he could with the aid of his trinket clear his mind would it go awfully awry. Then he turnes his head towards the Lilitu again. "Fair, since it was my idea. Perhaps you are able to cast it yourself?" He had been watching carefully for any signs of who she served and which plane she came from. If she was a divine spellcaster perhaps more would be revealed by her simply casting it or petition her lord for renewing her spells.

Shifting his beveiled cyan eyes to the tiefer. "What a fool would send these minions after a singel mundane being knowing they would attaract the attention of every faction hereat. Unless it is what they wanted all along."

There is a laugh, ringing clear like a bell but twisted, as if said bell is just about to break. The demon turns to look at them now, her voice an amused purr her tails curling around her legs.

"Divine magic is in my nature... you know what I am, do you not?

Flensing it completely would destroy the flesh attached to the metal." the demoness says. "Unlike a troll's this flesh is stable only as long as it is in contact with the metal."

They would notice that there is nothing on her that gives away her affiliation or whom she might serve- there is not even a faction badge is visible and she turns to the the table again.

The tiefling who delivered the message gives Mauric a puzzled look. "What if they just do not care about the factions getting involved, my lord?"

"I may have a inkling yes. You may ready the spell." He said in a amused tone suggesting that he knew very well what she was and how her kind usually operated.

"But what would happen to the metal without the flesh?" He enquired with a streak of hesitation in his tone.

Turning to the tiefer once more he answered. "Then we simply deal with a entity beyond our own league. Was this the only person they sought or is there sill more of them?"

"I can try do it whenever you are ready- and finished with your games.", the demon says with some dry humour in her voice and takes up a syringe that seems to be filled with some vile mixture of blood and... something else, injecting half of it into some living flesh, the rest into something undead.

The reactions might not be what she has expected, the pieces of flesh shrinking, shrivelling and then falling off. She tuts then turns to answer Mauric's question.

"The metal will still remain. It looks like a mix of skeleton and wire cage, as far as I can say all pieces connected to each other. Of course as it lacks the steady flow of conflicting energies for the flesh it miht slowly become inert."

The tiefling ponders on what she just heard but then quickly answers the doomlord's question. "Of the five targets identified three are still around. A dwarven merchant named Halmazin Ulbrich, a Sensate called Haztar and Holmar, a bleaker."

They will realize she did not mention the last suspected target, the Doomguard that was taken away to an unknown location.

"We all have our games to be played and our roles to fill. It is not so often I have the pleasure of finding one who appriciate them. You yours as I have mine. It seems to me yours are the next turn however." He grinned underneath his mask just waiting for the spell to be cast when ever she was ready. His hand toying with the nut pommel of his rapier afficing the skeleton shaped basket hilt. The engraving was a blood war lamentation she knew all to well.

The reply to the tiefling is delivered just as fast albeit more of a barrage of questions. "What do you know of the whereabouts of the said three? where do they hide? Whence did they came? How did they get here? All of them aligned with a faction and none the same, methinks that strange. Perhaps the power of philosohpy is another aspect hidden withi these creations. Scry them if it hasn't been done already."

Lowering his head caressing the metal once more while the Lilitu was working with it.

He recalled a project that transpired over half a decade ago where a higher entity sought to merge all beliefs into one. Creating a philosophers stone as it was named with the purpose of dominating the verse and all in it.

"Then the factions is invloved and for which purpose has escaped us entirely until now. This seem to be a less of a tiding to you however. Either a cabal of renegade collaborators or a agreement."

Removing his hand he chuckled gently at the Lilitu's assurances. If it had not been for Azor he had not gone to volonteer without any precautions. "All in your hands."

He closed his eyes beneath his mask. Clearing his mind from all thought as to better receive the mental images. He let his arm fall loosly to his side. He tries to navigate through the broken pieces to find a source pulling the pieces together.
