The Shipyard itself, from what everyone saw, and as laid out on the map, is a sprawling mass of buildings and construction aids. Most of it is of shoddy, easily collapsable, construction. Of particular note are two watchtowers, one of which was leaning and looked about ready to collapse anyway.

Bottlenecks are not so easy to find. There are a few points in the shipyard where streets converge, but large portions of the construction site would have to be taken in order to use them without risk of being flanked. The naturally flat nature of the plane means that there are few options to use terrain features to your advantage - you were lucky to find a defensible spot to make camp.

If there was no chance to collapse a entire secton crusing everything undearneath it he focused on the watchtowers. The towers are our best bet he thought. A little too obvious to simply charge directly towards it and expect the demons to follow. No it had to wowen with a finer thread if they where to act on it. Engaging them in a counter attack driving them back but deliberately letting themselves be cut off from their retreat thus seemingly being force to take cover in the structures. Better yet if they could hide the majority of the troops so that the demons advanced behind them to reach the strikeforce locking them between the two contigents whit no possibity to reatreat or escape the falling towers, a complete rout. If they could be provoked to mass teleport before that. A risky gamble for sure.

Using the same writingboard as before he composed the following.
wrote:The situation is hopeless. Our resourses are spent and our few remaining men subcumb to fatigue by the constant attacks. The maddening screams of the twelve shatter our sanity, clearity of thought impossible. If no aid have reached us by a fortnights cycle we shall all join with entropy in a last charge.

The Doomguard remnant of Twelvetrees. Names and titles have lost all meaning. For destruction divine! We will earn our place amongst the legendary champions of doom with the greatest massacre ever taken place on this plane.
He tore the sheet off the board.

"Now we need a neat way of letting them find this."

A brave soul volunteered to 'deliver' the message, and set off towards the portal.

The next day, the demonic horde attacked on schedule. The doomguard fought back, and drove the horde back into the shipyard. After a great deal of fighting, they managed to maneuver the majority of the horde under two very rickety towers, and collapse the towers on the demons. The day was won, and the doomguard moved to secure the shipyard.

A single demon was seen flying off from the wreckage.

The constant wailing drowned in a deafning roaring din as the towers collapsed over the advancing demons. Eftsoon a blast of dust, grime and debris hailed over the remaining Doomguards. The Warlock hid his face in his elbow still holding his curved blade. His long mantle fluttering wildy behind him. The structure they stood on quaking from the tremors caused by the sheer wieght crashing against it. Against all odds it had succeeded.

Silence follwed for the first time since he had stepped into this plane.Or was it the ears that failed? It lasted only seconds before the wailing blended with the murmur of the troops as they saw the winged creature in the distance.

A drawn out conflict was impossible to win against this advisary. Likely as it was Vassarion had alliences without the twelfth layer. And occupy a layer even by a small portion would not sit well with the Tanar'ri. The victory had given them respite but it would be a short one. Another alliance with the fiends was the only lasting option. With this victory however they had declared their worth as an ally to any faction opposing Vassarion or the hand that held him.

"We must pursue that one. Bearing the tidings to it's masters no doubt. Only the demise of the instagators of this plot against us can solve this. Yet in speed we cannot match it. Scour the area for survivors, we will hold a interrogation. Mayhap we can glean something useful from their wretched poision-tongues. We also need to fortify our position hereat as their next strike may reach us at any time."

The doomguard soldiers went about scouring the area. The towers had done their work well - not only was it a great wall, but they had also thoroughly squashed all the demons in their paths.

A few pockets of resistance were found elsewhere in the level, however, yielding one or two demon prisoners who did not manage to get themselves killed.

One of the cellars of the ruined towers had been turned into a command center. A stone slab serving as table with the maps over the construction site layed out upon it. Needles pined into it with various meaning such as watchposts and patrol routes. As time passed he ordered the scouts to conduct their reconnaissance further and further away. He ordered the engineers to errect row after row of portable spearbarricades to counter the dimensional phasing abilities of their advisaries.

The warlock had taken the time to construct a crude albeit functional torture device. Jagged slivers Cold Iron protruded from the chairs seat and back. Adjustable from behind. Awaiting the first test subjet to be brought in while he begruded the tactical positons of the map.

His right hand held over his mouth with his index finger thrumming his chin contineously under a pensive mien.

He mused to himself silenently. A second ruse wouldn't work they would be to cautious. But the warryness they surely felt must be exploited. It may even be reason for the agonising lull, perhaps they was fortifying their own positions knowing time is their ally and not the Doomguards. If the Ship had alredy been taken by a major demon lord it was alredy lost. The only option was to beseech a rival lord in a likely outdrawn campaign to retreive it. If Vassarion and his followers still possed it however it was best if they could trick or force them to use it against the Doomguard positions.

None of the scouts reported seeing any sign of the ship. Of course, with the immense size of the plane, it could be beyond the horizon, but there were no other known bases on Twelvetrees. . . beyond the shrine of the Twelve Trees itself. That unholy site was most certainly being defended.

Parties of demons harried the Doomguard defenses from time to time in the coming weeks, but there was no determined attempt to drive them out. It was as though the demons weren't terribly interested in the ruined shipyard anymore.

Of course, there were always the demon prisoners to be questioned. . .
