A figure dressed in a black robe, underlying armour, and a silver mask arrives at the Armoury and asks to speak to whoever is accepting new applicants.

He gives his name as Dorian Irsei and announces that he comes from a world where he was the last surviving living being, a place where entropy has finally won.

Ely Cromlich is eager to find out more of this Dorian and has a runner give him the run through of tests he'd have to conduct questioning him on if he has achieved the tests of the Sinker path.
The runner asks to bring proof to the Armoury, preferably in the form of a broken weapon belonging to the aformentioned individual, a day withered peice of preserved razorvine and of course a blooded object from a riot insighted from the jink-disposing ritual.

\\ OOC: Hmmm... whatever happened to the test of stopping the Dabus pruning the vine? I had a really cool idea about that.

\\ IC:

Dorian following instructions heads to the hive ward, and there proceeds to scatter a pouch of jink of at least 500 and then steps back. The result was... typical and expected. After the fight was over, and the residents had withdrawn, he locates a suitable item... a blood covered broken bottle, which he will present as evidence to the Doomguard assessor.

He thinks "So inefficient. Everything will come in its own time, this is just senseless. But in order to guide them, i first must become one of them"

As for the razorvine, this is easy. There are plenty of people who take and use razorvine for burning, or if really necessary he could visit the outlands to purchase some from those processing razorvine wine. Either way he would return with the required sample.

Finally he proceeds to the armoury and spends several hours trying to break his old mithril mace on any surface he can find. Finally after expending much effort he asks the aid of a blacksmith who, for a small fee, melts the thing down, and Dorian collects the off-run and pieces of the haft to present.

Overall Dorian felt let-down by the requirements for entrance. Senseless destruction and anarchy of course has its place... but entropy can wait, it has after all eternity at its disposal.....

Upon returning to Ely, Dorian is informed that he misunderstood the instruction about the razorvine.

Dorian sets out again this time to perform the task correctly, scratching his head over the seemingly impossible task.

Dorian is still struggling with how to complete this seemingly impossible task. The only thing that keeps him going is the knowledge that thousands of Doomguards have already passed this test, meaning that it is possible to do without upsetting the Lady or directly obstructing the Dabus.

He considers a visit to the Library to check for references to past occurences as he has heard that usually such attempts are often accompanied by spectators interested in seeing the antics of the Doomguard initiates, often accompanied with bets as to whether the initiate will succeed or not.

There must be some records in the archives about both failed and successful attempts.

There seem to be recorded incidents, creative ideas of how the Sinkers tried and failed, at least the failures would be a way to learn what "not" to do.

For example, one Sinker tried to stop the Dabus by killing it, didnt take a berk to realise what happened next.

Another tried to cut the razorvine and hide it elsewhere but that defeated the point of it being preserved in the area it was, after all the greatest part of its entropy was that it served to wither away the very wall it would grow upon.

Still, the test didnt mention being 'that' creative was against the rules.

Perhaps if he was daring enough, he could destroy the wall itself and take the entire reel of Razor-vine, hiding it somewhere.

All he'd need is a legitimate excuse, maybe a building with a health hazard or something that gave him a way to do it without being caught by the Hardheads or the Dabus.

The only question was, where would he find such a wall and how would he go about doing such a daunting task discreetly. If such was even possible.

More research would be needed for now.

The next item of interest for Dorian is whether there is any evidence whether a Dabus will forcefully move somebody who is passively obstructing its path to where it wants to go?

\\ OOC: Thinking human shield here. Lots of them... have an idea how to make it happen.

On the research books of the history of Sigil he would learn a few interesting things about Dabus that may help him understand the answer to that:

The Dabus act as many things, constructors, rebuilders, tenders, but also the emissaries and voices of the lady of pain herself, often presenting decrees in times where the Lady decides she would wish them upon others.

They have been noted, for the most part, to be passive creatures and generally evasive of conflict, but it is also known even interupting them 'directly' at least would upset Her Serenity The Lady Of Pain.

Thus, the answer to his question was presented.

In other books that are listed in the more forbidden archives of the Hall of Records, for a rather hefty price of Jink he could learn more.

\\ said in the voice of Monty Burns "Excellent!"

Dorian, while pleased at being accepted, now goes for a long sleep and wait while the effects of the drugs he took were washed out of his system.

((OOC: Duke: Here us Dorian's first attempt outlined... you'll have to fill in what actually happens and whether it is a success.))

Dorian starts by locating an abandoned house in Sigil (any ward except possibly Lady's Ward, Hive would probably be most fun, fights in the crowd that should develop will be good), preferrably a thin one adjoined on both sides by other residences so as to limit access.

He then places an advert in SIGIS announcing something called "Jink given for information about life in Sigil"

((OOC: Actually this is useful for Dorian anyway being very new to Sigil and before leaving his homeworld having no idea that other Primes or realms existed except for the realm of his god))

The time and place are given when this will commence. It is noted that 1 jink will be given for each person who can talk for a minute about their life in Sigil although they can talk for longer, but will risk the ire of the crowd if they speak for too long (5 minutes max).

Dorian also hires half a dozen guards to protect him and his money from any enterprising citizens who may decide that talking is too much hassle and want to relieve Dorian of his jink quickly.

At the appointed time and place Dorian will set up his stall in front of the building. An orderly queue is not desired or expected. In fact the guards will be encouraged to ensure that the crowd that is expected to gather fills the entire width of the house and even a little beyond. Dorian will also have upon him some herbs that will extend his ability to stay awake and alert for the full 24 hours.

He will then pick people at random from the front of the crowd (but occasionally from a row behind or two (just to create more disorder in the crowd and pushing for people to get to the front... guards poking people with weapons may happen). The people will then be allowed to speak and money will be handed over.

At the end of the 24 hours Dorian will take the required cutting and present it at the Armoury.

((OOC: maximum cost for the enterprise 1440 (60*24) jink handed over for questions, plus the cost of hiring 6 mercs for 24 hours plus the "stay-awake" drugs for him and the guards. Dorian had quite a bit of money on him last night, but don't recall how much I have left after a spending spree, so I may have to grind a little before we can agree the cost of this event is covered.))

((The plan revolves around that the Dabus will not force its way through the crowd - if it even approached it may get accidentally hurt by someone not paying attention to who or what they are pushing - especially as there are always other buildings that are in need of attention by Dabus.))
