Trial 2.

Trial 3.

Nyraatu meets in a back alley of the undersigil village with a Pair of old spelljammer pirates. One talks in a thick sword coast accent.

"Har lad, we got them vines ye asked for." The younger lad hauls a heavy crate off a cart, dirt sprinkling between the cracks in the crate onto the floor.

When he puts it down the crate rattles violently all on it's own.

"They ain't eaten for a week so don't be close when ye open the box or they'll have ye aright."

Nyraatu's eyes peer out from between two eyesockets of a skull mask under a broad and dark hood. As his blood red right eye moves around looking between the crate and the pirates, his right eye, a dark, almost black brown seems fixed straight as if it were a glass eye.

He grunts and hands over a sack of Jink and gems.

To be continued...

The tall figure robed in black with his grim skull mask carries a heavy crate full of dark sod through the Bazaar, past the gymnasium and into the Lady's Ward one eerie night.

The street light looked a creepy green with the dirty fog that lingered.

Nyraatu drops the crate down beside a large wall covered in razorvine, the side of a noble house of some sort. What a marvellous canvas. The Dabus had been floating by it all day pictures of clippers clipping over their heads. He was sure they planned to trim it soon.

The large figure pulled cobble stones apart where the vines had cut through the ground and hacked away at the ground with a small axe. He crammed the crate down into the gap. at the base of the razorvines and fixed cobblestones back around the crate loosely before cracking the lid and tearing the wooden lid out from under the cobbles.

Quickly he backed away and watched as a some smaller writhing vines much like grape vine but with lashing rope like tendrils and hand shaped leaves curled its way up the razorvines amongst them seeking and spreading as far as they could across the wall face of the building.

Quickly Nyraatu scuttled away across the foggy street chuckling and headed into the armoury.

The next morning a Dabus floats up to the razorvine, clippers ready. It floats along snipping and pruning between the razorsharp vines with a happy image floating above it's head.

Suddenly it's eyes widen and a scene of panick plays out above it's quiff of white hair as within the razorvines hundreds of little tendrils begin to tremble and writhe.

Suddenly a chord of assassins vine shoots out wrapping around the Dabus's head and another around it's wrist.

The assassin vines begin to pull it in, close and closer to the razorvines. The more it resists the more small ropey tendrils begin to shoot out from behind the razorvine mass, their hand shaped leaves smothering the Dabus as the tendrils wrap and cling.

((OOC: Ah, Azulfae, you should have stopped the story at the point where you had placed the assassin vine and ran, i may have let this work for you. Instead you have left me with a Dabus in a deadly trap. I could retcon your story, but i'm going to choose to be evil instead... very evil))

The assassin vine tightens and tightens, the Dabus projecting its fear and terror, calling out to its fellow Dabus. Several nearby Dabus react, but too late. The assassin vine finishes the Dabus off.

The word spreads like wildfire - "A Dabus has been killed". The more intelligent berks in the area quickly make themselves scarce, knowing what is likely to happen now. A few clueless berks hang around watching the spectable.

The Dabus communicate amongst themselves in their own strange manner.

A shadow falls across ground where no shadow was a moment before. The few remaining berks are instantly shredded. The Dabus turn towards the source of the flayings, appear to be listening, and bob their heads in acknowledgement. The shadow disappears.

Several Dabus remain on the scene, while others float away to carry out their instructions.

Within a few minutes, Harmonium are on the scene and setup a barricade. A short while later several Wizards approach and use spells (with the permit from the harmonium to use offensive spells in a public place) to deal with both the assassin vine and also remove the remaining razorvine as well.

When all is cleared away, and the remains of the Dabus have been removed, the barricade is taken down and the street returns to relative normality, although the local citizens still give the building where the Dabus was killed a wide berth.

[Lol you killed it not me, XD the thing was still struggling for life when I last wrote something! What if my next post was salvation! ... :plotting: meh not likely though. I want this to go down in doomguard history as the most hardcore conduction of this task ever!]

In the meanwhile... (Having ICly witnessed Darramar concucting a very powerful divination once before and knowing certain rules regarding Sigil and divination,) the so called 'Nyraatu,' seems to have cleared town for portal jumping escape to somewhere far far away.

((The killing of a Dabus - or *leading a Dabus to its demise*.. whatever you want to call it - is a profoundly egregious offense. If my understanding of Sigilian lore is accurate, the Lady of Pain would have appeared almost immediately after the death and have flayed Nyraatu alive - or worse, mazed him. The last thing he would see, before he erupted into a mess of blades and blood, is the Lady's Shadow. ))

((Edit by Agony_Aunt - this topic was discussed on DM forums. Nyraatu gets away with it as was not in the city. Possible that Divination would catch him, but this time it will not. Next time "Nyraatu" pulls a stunt like this it will be perma- or the mazes)).

EDIT: [Short version: Nyraatu isn't around when the Dabus meets it's demise. Infact he's out of Sigil.]

Trial 1. (ironically done last)

In the armoury a looming figure makes his return to Sigil. Dressed from head to toe in black robes and with a skull mask under his hood the figure who calls himself Nyraatu pounds away at the forge unmaking a great and ancient axe.

The power he might wield in having this axe for his own is second to the symbolism of it's destruction and what can be gained from the entropy he shall control in joining the doomguard.

Nyraatu heats the greataxe over and over, dunking it into ice water and then back again into the furnace then hammering with a brutal strength.

From his chin under the skull mask drips tears of sadness as memories flood his mind of a life that is still his own but so changed as if to not be what it once was by recent events and losses.

As the morning light casts over Sigil the figure climbs atop the walls of the armoury and raises the great axe into the air. Pieces fall from it as he does so it barely holds itself together anymore.

"RRRRROOOOOOOAAAAAARRRGGGHH!!!" He cries and down comes the axe against the wall below him exploding into tiny pieces and shards of metal.

A final act, he slumps against the top of the wall and lets go of the haft of the axe watching it bounce off the wall below as it falls and then clatters off into the street below.

This day something was unmade in this body, the better part of a man, the part that kept the monster inside.

As Nyraatu enters the Armoury once more, he seeks Dorian and Ely Cromlich. When he finds them he takes them aside into a room shutting the door.

He stands there, hands held out open covered in blood and sweat and ground down iron.

A powerful family heirloom of deep personal sentiment destroyed, a riot in the hive around the feet of a harmonium officer but most of all a dead Dabus.

Are the doomguard ready for this one and the storm he will bring is the real question?

Dorian seeks an audience with Factotum Cromlich to discuss the performance of "Nyraatu" and his entry to the Doomguards.

The death of the Dabus is a double edged sword. On the one hand it was an amazing achievement. On the other hand, it too clearly stands out as an entry test to the Doomguard, and if someone were to make the connection, and Nyraatu was accepted and then discovered to have been responsible.... well, that would cause problems.

However, Dorian has his own plans for the large thick-headed fool, and has a vested interest in seeing the the witless idiot accepted, and so will push for his acceptance.
