The Glabrezu turns around, stomping off already. calling to the Doomlord over his shoulder: "Meet my second in command, Dosmarion, at our forward camp. He will show you all you need to know."

He then turns to the Marilith and it is quite obvious that the scarred siege engineer does not see her as his superior: "Send your birdies there as well. And keep the Baatezu and the rest of your rabble off our hides- else I can guarantee for nothing."

Anger can be seen in the snakelike demon's eyes and Mauric feels the violence in the air between them, a violence that might soon erupt.

The succubus however gives him a quick nod, flashes a sweet smile prepares to 'port out- but then the demoness freezes at the sound of drums- heard faintly in the distance, the Marilith casting a quick glance at Mairic, then tightening her tail's curls on the ground to straighten herself.

((Thread high jack occurring with the permission of the EM running the event.

Boom... Boom.... Boom

The sound of drums resonates deeply. The very ground seems to vibrate as does the inner most beings of those who hear them. And then come the footfalls of marching armoured feet. And it would be easy to see their source. A shimmering gate flickers and through it come rows of armoured troops in perfect synchronized lock step. Mauric would recognize the banner the troops carry. The Faction symbol of The Doomguard and under it the personal arms of Doomlord Cromlich. Even the Tanar'ri seem on edge now, the Sinkers arrival in force something even demons know to fear. They are heading straight towards where The Tanar'ri are camped. Maybe it was not something the Faction was undertaken officially, but they have taken notice now and they are here.

He turned himself to the approaching army. Putting down his blade in the smoking sand. His maggot infested mantle of fresh skins and dripping flesh fluttererd sternly in the wind along with his hair the one thing that still seemed human. Raising his clawed-gauntlet as to gesture a halt to the two squabling demons. The dark figured seemed determined to face the marching army alone would the others flee.

Someone had reported his wereabouts to Pentar. None else could have ordered this march not even Ely. The orders being either to call him back or assist him he reckoned.

With his shattered fluxing voice he spoke wheezingly as the army drew nearer. "Attack in the order I instructed and do it fast. I am assuming full command of this siege or leaving you to battle it out yourselves."

On hearing their orders the Doomguard form a half circle surrounding Mauric, Cromlich and the landing dragon.

"We are after a book containing a prophecy from the castle's library. Once that is secure you can burn and shatter all you see fit to destroy."

The demons are wary but not hostile of the arriving doomguard forces- and most are also too busy with dealing with the devils which still block the approach to the fortress.

A fierce battle surrounds them and a wave of terribly heat washes over the assembled forces of demons and Doomguards as another wave of fireballs rain down on a heated battle nearby, melting and shattering demonic and mortal flesh.

Qor gets the attention of a flight of Abishai- the devil-spawn of the Chromatic Dragon eager to challenge the wayward kin who aligned himself with the forces of chaos. Yet a mixed flock of Chasmes and Vrocks incercept them. the demons still covered with the blood of the erynies they just eliminated.

From his position Qor sees that the fortress is well defended against flying foes as well but there are several rifts cut into the ground that might allow a hidden and somewhat save approach for a small team.

He lifted his heavy head to gaze skyward as the dragon descended. The dark silhouette shifted in the fiery skies. He wielded his blade in a circle and let the tip affix itself towards the opposing flight in a signal to Qor to accept the aerial challange he was offered and spearhead the assault from the air without losing the element of surprise. An combat inthe air would also deflect some of the deadly rain he figured.

Lowering his blade he spoke again to the Cambion. "How shall we know this propechy once we find it? Do you know exactly where it is held? Or mayhap you can relay a portion of the text?"

He turned around and gazed towards the fortress and the battling demons ahead behind his protective encirclement.

"We need to advance fast. Keep the men in small mobile contingents of twenty men. Ten feet in distance to each combat group. Attack the corners of the Baatorian squares but do not face the straight ahead but avoid their center. Divide into two battles one to the far right and the other to the far left. Let the light vanguard march ahead and distrupt the enemies movements through hit and run attacks." His voice grew stronger albeit wheezing harshly as before.

He then looked back at the Marilith. "Your subordinates will do their part or the sorid remains of them will be rounded up by Another commander very soon."

Keen eyes catching Mauric's signal, Qorx halted in descent and took to circling above the doomguards, meeting any attacking devils with acid and fang. When the assault began he would provide cover for the advancing force, focusing on keeping aerial troops off of Mauric in particular.

The Cambion survey's the scene and lets Mauric issue his commands. His grin shows him he is eager for the slaughter to commence.

"The book is entitled Pera evu. It will be in the keep's library. As for the content should the Factol deem you should know them then you shall."

"Don't forget to protect yourself and your troops against fire, Doomlord.", the Marilith says dryly as a squad of Doomguard soldiers who were engaged by a squad of Barbazu is turned to ashes by another rain of fireballs.

Nevertheless the devils are quicky overwhelmed by demons and doomguard soldiers, the unit teleporting away again to regroup- the devils making the most out of their superior mobility and knowledge of the terrain.

Then the soldiers advance, following Mauric's command, coordinatinf with the demons as much as their nature allows.

Qor sees some goat headed demon collapsing the walls of a gorge on a horde of Lemures and Nupperibos, allowing the demons to create a bridgehead close to the fortress walls.
The Chasmes and Vrocks do a good job to keep the flying Baatezu troops away-but the dragon also notices strong devilish forces gathering in the distance.

It is only a matter of time until Baator decides to destroy this impudent annoyances who dare to spoil its soil.

After the initial skirmish, a bulky warrior in tattered scalemail came forth to approach the Doomlord, a bloodied greataxe thrown over his shoulders, his features covered by a charred rag.

"I heard there was a big fight, hope you don't mind me tagging along." A familiar voice addressed the Doomlord, his glowing ember eyes giving away his identity to the battered warlock.
