He spoke to Ayase after hearing her report. "I don't want to get entrapped between the fortress and any arriving reinforcement. When we assault we must breach the walls or we will die beneath them with the forces inside it pounding us from above and the legions driving us closer to the walls and hinder our movement completly."

"There must be some crack into those study wall we can tear open. Take the stealth force with you and find it. Give Qor a signal if you need his aid."

He then ordered the troops to charge for the advantageous position reported and press onward from that position advancing towards the walls. "Do not let them goad you into a lenghty pursuit. Our objective is the fortress."

Ayase nods ''keep them distracted enough so they don't look at heir own feet''
and looks for any demon or doomguard able to stealth, hastens them with flee the scene, and go invisible who's able to.
then orders them to scout around the basements of the fortress to seek for any crevice, weak spot, secret passages or waste disposal opening.

The doomguard troops advance quickly at Mauric's command, some demons still among their ranks, stiffening their assault and their mobility is of great use to defend against harassing devil skirmishers. Mauric keeps the troops together and focused- not an easy task with a group as chaotic and violent like this one- Raz'eths presence doing its part of keeping them in line as well.

Qor sees the remaining demons and devils slaughtering each other, the forces of Baator slowly getting the upper hand but the demons making them pay. Then more demons arrive- right among the devils who prepare another push, their formations scattering.

Ayase manages to rally two lightly armoured Doomguards and a single babau- her small ad hoc squad able to move undetected through the narrow crevices.

It is a labyrinth of burnt stone and sharp obsidian, lava sometimes blocking their way, forcing them to take another turn or to move back in their own tracks to find a better route. But down here the fireballs are less of a problem and so far the devils left them alone as well.

Then there is a choice- a small gate leading into the fortress, hidden, well fortified by two emplacement- or a bit of hard to defend wall- a dead spot in the overlapping field of fire. Where will they aim there assault?

Where will Mauric unleash the beast they brought?

((Correct me if I'm wrong Sel. Two external additions to the gate itself Nano. Like two towers of each side of the gate. The gate being below them or between them.))

After hearing the scouts report back.

If Qor would draw near again he would give him another signal. Pointing his sword towards the wall across the field of fire to issue the attack.

He spoke to the Marilith
. "Advance those you still hold sway over across the field of flames."

His next command would rely greatly whether the Marilith would be succeding or failing at this.Turning to his fellow Doomguards he spoke anew.
"We will not breach the wall with the defenders focused and amassed behind it. March towards the weaker wall behind the fiery field. Douse the fire with what spells you may.But do not let the efforts drain you completly, they will not yield the walls so easily, especially when they know it is where they can deal us the most grievous of blows. Summon water elementals and have them pave our way if you are able to. Onward!"

The Marilith issues her silent orders, some of the demons breaking away from their fights to march out into the field, supporting the doomguards as good as they can.

Cold and water spells take care of the flames- dowsing them temporarily but this is all the attackers need to approach the weak spot. Quickly the cross the terrain, often the ground is nothing more than a thin crust of stone above a lava stream.

Perhaps the devils were too confident, too trusting into the searing flames, perhaps the ground is too trecherous to support a heavier wall. Whatever the case this might be the weak spot they need.

The large drow would have volunteered to lead the formation through the fiery field, himself being almost completely immune to the effects of fire and heat. Having spent most of his years on rough terrain deep underground, he'd immediately recognize the type of terrain they were on... and the implications it had for the fortress.

"A few well planted bombs or spells should knock her down, no problem... leaving us a nice bridge to run across. Ready?" he shouted back at his comrades.

He urged the Marilith. "Press the attack, yours can move throught he flames faster. Do not let them amass behind that wall weak or not. Remind them that they need to save their teleportations."

As they march with the flames roaring at their sides he ruminated over the nature of the wall. So often the own thought deceiving the deceiver with feints and tricks of his own imagenation. But in this environment of constant betrayal his paranoia was an asset. The only possible reason he himself would have designed a wall with such obvious faults was to conceal the strenght and draw in the enemy in a deathtrap while it was in truth the most well defended section of the entire fort. Relying on the impetus nature of the Tanar'ri it was a salient strategy.

He would not allow the Marilith and her bodyguards to stray far away from him at any time.

He spoke to the draconic drow. "Lead the vanguard but do not lose your head by rushing forth blindly. When the majority of defenders are at the wall ahead we will attack the gate. "

He then sopke to Ayase and the stealth team. "Infiltrate the gate. When the defenders have left to join the fray at the wall and kept at a minimum make what sabotage you can before we arrive. Send a red light when you deem it the time. If you send a green explosion through the skies we will take that as the position at the gate to be to strong for an attack and we will have to take our chances at the wall."

Above, Qorxicotl was struggling. The claws of abishai raked and sparked against ebony scales as they clung to the dragon despite his thrashing to throw them off. With an enraged roar he dove once more, folding both wings to begin a hazardous spin. The devils began to fall away, unable to keep a grip as the force of many rotations hurled them off. The black hissed with amusement as the last of the annoying fiends was dislodged, then realized the ground was much closer than expected. Wings began to beat once more in a desperate attempt to regain altitude; too late. Qorxicotl smashed into the scorched earth not far from Mauric and the Marilith, throwing up a great plume of dust from the impact.

After a few moments, the battered dragon limped out of the newly formed trench and over to the two commanders. "Thought up a plan yet, Ashtoret?"
