Late in the night, those unlucky enough to still be working in the Armory found the giant chimney that serves as the main vent for their forges blocked. The smoke backed up, and began filling the work-area with toxic smog.
Naturally everyone evacuated as quickly as possible.
Those who got caught in the smoke report seeing rust monsters in tiny top hats, monkeys, air elementals, chaos beasts, and harmonium attacking. Ely Cromlich swore to the Factol herself that he "was attacked by a garishly dressed masked figure wielding a rust monster."
The supplementary fans were started as fast as possible. It took some time to find the source of the blockage, as the first flying scout sent to the top of the armory came back and reported that nothing was wrong. Later it was found that a very sturdy tarp had been fastened over the top of the central vent. It seems that hallucinogenic and smoke bombs were also employed by the attackers.
One Doomguard was found attacking the fans themselves after they'd been started, and he said he just: "felt it was the right thing to do for Entropy."
Two masked figures were spotted trying to break into the lower levels of the Armory, on their way to the Factol's office. They were attacked on sight, but witnesses say they vanished into mist.
After the smoke cleared, a bevy of rust monsters in tiny top hats was indeed found munching on the forges and ongoing projects in the main armory.
Factol Pentar, after reveling in the beautiful destruction and entropy of it all, demanded a full investigation, despite some theories that this was a Xaositect 'prank'.
Needless to say, the damage to the forge and to ongoing projects was quite severe.
