Caterina would return from the barracks her head still pounding from the meeting. She opens her desk draw and spots the bottle of fire brandy from the city of brass she keeps in there and shakes her head. Not yet she still needs to be clear headed. She settles for making herself a cup of cleansing green tea before she sits down takes a sip and begins filling out a number of long and tedious arrest warrants. She reads over the intelligence gathered carefully she makes sure that the charges can be supported with the evidence the Harmonium have, no one will get away on a technicality. She then posts the warrants to the barracks, depending on how long the meeting takes they may well reach their intended recipients before they return from the meeting. Finally she writes a letter to the Fraternity member Mover Cass mentioned.

I have come to understand that you and mover Cass have discussed the formation of a cross faction coalition within the triad.  In order for this unit to function correctly it will need the close attention of a Fraternity judge.  I sadly do not hold this position.

Whoever is assigned to this operation will be responsible for sentencing a lot of members of the revolutionary league.  This will of course will have to take place in public trial and whoever is responsible for it will become a target.  with this in mind and with the desire for the secrecy of this units existence having been firmly impressed upon me I would volunteer for the role should you find me suitable, or will happily work with whoever you suggest should you not.

After several days of deliberation among the highest ranking members of the Fraternity Caterina finally receives a reply from none other than Haskar. A Fraternity Member waits patiently in her office and hands her sealed letter and he leaves once she takes the notice. When Caterina opens the letter it reads as follows.
wrote: After much debate and careful consideration, the Fraternity of Order has decided to grant your request only under a few conditions which will be mentioned.

1) You are to report to your superior and request the standardized test for promotion and you will take the Judge's test. Once/If you pass you will be afforded the benefits of your proper rank.

2) Upon completion you are to meet with me immediately as their are legal technicalities to discuss.

3) You are to not to discuss the contents of this message with no one, this is a time for secrecy as the Harmonium plans have been discussed by the heads of the Triad.

Caterina reads the letter over, and direct communication from the Factol is very rare she seals the letter safely away and begins to act upon the instructions contained within her letter. Beginning with contacting her immediate superior.

After recently considering the Faction's current position I feel I could be more proactive in spreading the cause of law.  To that end I wold like to request to be tested both for promotion and the position of Judge.

I completely endorse the recommendation of Haskar and completely agree with you that it would be in our best interests to have you presiding as a civil judge. Your experience in the field of law is ever growing and you must have the reach and responsibility of the Judiciary in order for it to expand further.

When the promotion arrives, I assume with an increase in classification to at least A6 or A5, I will no longer be your superior. You will be required to answer directly to the Bureau Chief as I now do and must assume the responsibilities of decisions as I now do.

As a word of advice, in an unofficial capacity, I would suggest you keep your private life a little more private than you may be accustomed to. In presiding over trials, those you judge will do whatever they deem necessary to win their cases. If that means discrediting you for things youÂ’ve publically stated or stood for, then they will do so. Do not give them that opportunity. In accepting the position of judge, you will be held to a higher level of expectation.

That being said, your application for the bench has been approved.

Cater reads the reply and allows herself a rare unguarded smile at the faith shown in her. Quickly its gone. She still had the test to past. A formality some would say, but here in the city court formalities were everything. She began studying.

Time in the Fraternity as well as a childhood of schooling by the church of Wee Jas has made Caterina accustomed to tests. This one she expects to be tough though. She revises everything in detail and makes sure she has seven hours sleep the night before. Then at the appointed time she goes to the appointed place and begins.

It took some time as things of this sensitive nature always do. A several days bordering into a week, Caterina finally receives a surprise when she goes to work as a few judges are waiting for her at her office to give her her badge, welcoming here with smiles an occasional pat on the back .

Caterina allows herself a moment to feel proud, after all she is not doing badly for someone most would still consider a clueless prime. She thanks everyone and she engages her coleagues in small talk and pleasentries, she knows she is knew to the role and the good will of her peers will help greatly. Then it is back to business. She is aware that she has been offered this position only condtionally and having met the first condition she must now see to the second. Factol Hashkar was not a man one dropped by casually to see. She wrote a letter first.
