Wren emerges from the room in the Barracks that housed him for the night, walking a little more carefully and slowly than usual and with a slightly paler complexion but otherwise appearing mostly recovered. As he leaves he passes a removed notebook page to the Factotum on the desk, along with a slight smile and a request to personally thank the Tormite Paladin who assisted him.

I, Wren, son of Ortharas, swear the following to be my true recollection.

I and friends Phantom, Illia and Saiph were standing in front of the bar owned by Khazeet, in the Bazaar. A shout was heard from behind us, in the bar itself; it was discovered to have been given by Bebene, an Alu-fiend at the time of the attack wearing the guise of a female dwarf.

Many of us then entered the bar. It became clear friend Bebene had been stabbed but no attacker was visible. Positioned close to Phantom, I overheard whispered threats intended for him - he was asked to leave the bar alone. He did not comply, instead drawing a projectile weapon which he trained on something not visible to me. As Phantom discharged his weapon, the aggressor revealed himself - being the man taken into the Barracks with me - and simultaneously suffered the shot and nicked Phantom's throat with the blades he carried in each hand.

Phantom followed this by shooting the attacker again before collapsing due to his wounds. Presumably noting the impossibility of his situation, the latter attempted to flee by leaping a bar wall - his retreat was broken slightly by a spell from friend Illia and an attempted restraint by friend Myr, also present.

Myr was soon shaken off and the attacker continued his flight. I presently stepped in, following the attacker over the wall, flanking and tackling him successfully before administering a paralysing blow to the back of his head. It was then that I received an arrow in the back, presumably intended for the aggressor; shortly thereafter, as I was succumbing to poison and pinned to the attacker by an arrow, your brigade arrived.

I do not know the identity of the attacker and will admit many details may have escaped my notice; I was in a highly focussed state and paid little attention to peripheral events.

His blessings.

The report would end with a small, neat signature

((You weren't there, man... The stapping was vicious <_<

Chari reads the note then has her assistant make copies, all of which are handed out by runners to all patrolling officers in the Marketplace as well a copy goes out to all Measures

I am pleased to inform you that the operation we previously discussed was carried out successfully and Tom Marcus is now in custody.  I have been informed that he has already admitted to his guilt and I will shortly be on my way to the prison to extract a signed confession. Again referring back to our previous conversation I think that this greatly enhances our chances of extracting a guilty plea.  Factor Swansong would like to keep him in Mercykiller custody until he is tried.  I am inclined to agree with him as i think some time in the prison will do a great deal to motivate Mister Marcus to do the correct thing when it comes to entering his plea.

There is unfortunately something else I feel I should bring to your attention. Yesterday evening I witnessed two Harmonium officers chase a suspected thief into the brazar.  With my help they identified him but as they attempted to apprehend him he drank a potion setting himself a blaze and rather messily ending his own life.  The two officers in question then seemed happy to leave the scene of the crime the body and the evidence in the brazar and return to their patrol. I was forced to take body and the evidence myself to the barracks. As I am now part of Interfactional affairs I have insisted that the names of the two officers be forwarded to me by one desk Sergent Neil Embers.  I recommend disciplinary action be taken against both for their negligence.

With regard to the evidence recovered the Harmonium are conducting an investigation.  As my faith in the Harmonium is somewhat shaken at the moment I have elected to supervise this personally and will keep you informed in due course.

Regards A10 Caterina Arnders.

Well done on the work with the Marcus murder. You've managed a difficult task and will, no doubt, see it through to fruition. I look forward to seeing the final results.

As for the incident in the Market. Collecting the names of the two officers for your records would probably be a wise idea. This way you have a connection to them for future things or past incidents that might arise one day. As for disciplinary action against them... that is not our jurisdiction. The Harmonium does not work for us and we have no authority over their personnel. You can, however, forward their names, along with a description of the incident, to a Measure within in the Barracks. The inclusion of a personal opinion on what should be done would be wasted effort unless you know the Measure personally.

The current investigation, from a Fraternity standpoint, is in your hands. If you require additional resources, please forward your requests to me.

I hope this has been helpful.
