//This is the follow up to the arrest made in this thread; and the events referred to in this thread.

After their initial investigations, a date was set for the trial of the unfortunate mad Sensate Luisiani. According to the evidence gathered by the Harmonium investigators, she stabbed Lord Alandris multiple times in front of his own home in the Lady's Ward. When she was arrested, she appeared confused, and made no effort to deny the charges. Later she insisted she was not acting under her own volition, but that the "voices in her dreams" told her to do it.

As soon as a date is set, the Fraternity is inundated with demands from outside parties. The Sensates send a request asking that she be returned to them without a trial since this relates to an internal matter which they feel they can take care of themselves.

The relatives of Lord Alandris are demanding nothing less than a guilty verdict, and are willing to bribe whoever is necessary to get it.

And of course, it is the opinion of severla doctors that the poor woman is mad, and should simply be handed over to the Bleakers with as little fuss and cost as possible.

//This thread is open to whoever wants to chime in and do Guvnery things. If no one is interested, justice will simply take its course.

As the requests demands and petitions pile up Caterina writes to both parties. First to The Sensates.

To whom it may concern

We have received your communication with regard to the up and coming trial of one of your members Luisiani (reference: JV6879B.)  Whilst you may feel this is an internal matter the fact a murder is alleged to have taken place makes it a matter of civic concern, and therefore it is a matter that must be dealt with in the transparency of a court and not internally within The Festhall.  For this reason I must decline your request for an immediate release.

Caterina Arnders
Administrator I
Bureau of Interfactional Affairs.
And a second letter to the estate of Lord Alandris.

Dear Sir or Madam

You have my sympathies at this difficult time.  However I must remind you that the defendant in the trial of Luisiani (ref:  JV6879B) has the right to a legal defence and a fair trial.  The Fraternity does not dispense arbitrary judgements without evidence being heard.

Caterina Arnders
Administrator I
Bureau of Interfactional Affairs.
She would then make herself familiar with the arrest reports and any statements gathered as well as whatever specialist opinions were volunteered as she waits to see who was assigned for the roles of defence, prosecution and judge in the trial.

After reading the brief on the case, A10 Alathusra submits a request to be allowed to serve as prosecutor in the upcoming trial. This request makes its way promptly to the desk of whichever Bureau Chief/Judge has jurisdiction over this case.

Hasclaan sends a note to Administrator Arnders:

wrote: My Lady,

I have heard that you are involved in the  Luisiani case and I humbly offer my assistance. Of course I leave it up to you to find the position I can serve in best.

Thank you for considering,

Hasclaan Guunt, A8
He then heads to the archives to get familiar with the case- just in case!

Caterina receives the following reply to her letter to the estate of Alandris:
wrote: Dear Administrator Arnders,

Thank you for your well wishes. Its so good to know that a conscientious woman such as yourself is taking care of this case. If its not too much to ask, could you please tell me as soon as a date is set for the trial? I'm sure you understand why it is so important to my family that this murderess be brought to justice. . .

Thank you,

Lady Eveline Alandris

Alathusra's request to be made prosecutor was accepted after the usual questions had been asked, and forms filled out. . .

((Hasclaan can get in this as well? As asking as I am not sure what positions are still free, though.))

A10 Alathusra submits the following motion to the judge assigned to the case:
wrote:Case # 234897584-021
Accused: Luisiani
Motion Filed By: A10 Alathusra (Prosecution)

The prosecution hereby files a Motion for Summary Judgement in the afore-referenced matter. The facts of the case are not in dispute by any party involved, not even the accused. According to Harmonium investigators the accused made and has made no attempt to deny having murdered Lord Alandris in front of his own home.

What is in dispute is whether or not the mental state of the accused (and indeed, whether or not the accused does suffer from altered mental state) should influence their sentence.

It is therefore my recommendation that a guilty verdict be rendered in this matter and that the court should move to sentencing proceedings, where an actual legal debate is appropriate and valid.

Signed,

A10 Alathusra.

Caterina would do her best to find out when the trial date is set and having made herself familiar with the case she would submit an offer to the Bureau of Courts to fill any unassigned roles at court even if it is a simple scribes job of transcribing notes.

((Although I'd like my character involved I understand there is only so many places so I understand if you cannot fit me in.

//So sorry for forgetting about this! And yes, you can all get in on this. The only position that's been assigned is the prosecutor. There's at least the judge and Luisiani's lawyer to be determined. Just post requests for the roles you want.

Some days after being approved for her position, Alathusra received the following letter, and a lovely fruit basket:
wrote: Administrator Alathusra,

A little bird told me that you were the person to speak to about the distressing case of my late husband's murder. I hope that the matter will be settled quickly, and the guilty party dealt with severely. Please accept this as a token of my regard.

Sincerely,

Lady Eveline Alandris

Hasclaan sends the following application to the Bureau of Courts:
wrote: To whom it may concern,

I hereby apply as a solicitor to defend the accused Luisiani ( case JV6879B) in the upcoming trial.

Hasclaan Guunt, A6
He knows that his chances of sucessfully defending this woman are slim but nevertheless he gets familiar with this case, reading through the investigation reports forwarded by the Hardheads.

Assuming he gets accepted he then will contact both the Sensates and the Bleakers:

Sent to the Sensates is the following letter:

wrote:
To whom it does concern,

as I volunteered to defend Ms. Luisiani in her upcoming Trial ( refNo. JV6879B) I hereby request informations about what she did the days before the murder and in what projects she has been involved before that incident.

Whatever information your Faction might have to prove her innocence or an altered state of mind during that incident would be useful.

Hasclaan Guunt, A6

Sent to the Bleakers is this one:

wrote: To whom it may concern,

as her official defender (case JV6879B) I hereby request the compilation of a mental profile of Ms. Luisiani of the Sensates.

Please explore the possibilities of mental domination, possession or similar ways of outside influences as well as the possibility of a mental illness that would render her incapable of judging the consequences of her actions or would compel her to violent behaviour.

Hasclaan Guunt, A6
Then he tries to get an appointment to talk to the accused herself.
