Having put filed an "Indisposed Planewalking Incident" form accounting for his recent absence of exactly 100 cycles, Crake follows up on this at the courts with some concern. He asks if anyone has seen him--or rather, someone seeming to be him--while he was indisposed during the duration he'd filed for. He makes his way around the courts asking bailiffs, aides, and other administrators if they recall having seen or spoken with him in the past hundred-odd cycles, taking notes, and trying not to look too disconcerted.

There is an initial confusion by Administrator Crake's inquiries. After all, if he had just filed an "Indisposed Planewalking Incident" form, why would he be asking if anyone had seen him at all?

Then again, the fact that he felt the need to fill such a form at all seemed to surprise some of his colleagues. When exactly was he indisposed? He hadn't missed his appointments in the time frame noted, and more than one Bailiff could have sworn they saw him coming in (then again, they also swore he was a little taller) ...

Then there was the matter of a certain furious scholar girl....

As Crake continued to look, the fact would become increasingly clear; as far as the Court was concerned, he was not absent without leave. A few higher ups were perhaps slightly annoyed that he chose, in those hundred odd days, to focus on research rather than litigation, but the fact remained that he was accounted for.

As Crake made his way through the ranks, he would also receive remarks of approval from his superiors for getting rid of that facial tattoo. It really did make him look more like some Indep rabble than a proper lawyer.
I just want to kill monsters and get prizes for it. Is that REALLY so much to ask for?

*Crake lets everyone he speaks with know that the khayal with the tattooed face was not him, that they are an impostor. And he files whatever paperwork protocol dictates for having been impersonated within the ranks of the bureau of courts. Further, he looks into, well, himself. Anything files he's requested access to (or filed, himself!), work he has done, reports he has made, people he has met with. He tries to get to the bottom of whatever his impostor has been doing. Goes over all evidence of his work in those hundred days with a fine toothed comb, so to speak*

"Crake", it seems, spent the last hundred odd days keeping primarily to himself. He requested all kinds of codices and archived documents that deal with the Cage's history. Topics seem to include matters that relate to each of the Factions, military records (what few the Court have), technological and arcane developments, and most curiously, all manner of personnel files on figures across the Triad.

A particularly odd detail is that many of these archived documents should, by rights, be far above Crake's rank. The only way he'd have had access to any of this would be if someone with clout down in the Archives was pulling a favor for him...

*Crake makes a written report of these discoveries immediately, including his assertion that there is someone impersonating him, the description including the face tattoo, the duration he was gone, the bit about greater access than was appropriate, and every other pertinent detail he can think of. He circulates copies of this report to all of the courts offices, and brings copies of this report to the Barracks and the Prison as well, feeling it is his duty to inform the entire triad of this matter.*
