Dace emerges from the abyssal portal in the barracks with a halfling and hooded tiefling, all three soaked in blood, sweat, and some kind of murky water. Their weapons likewise are are so stained with fiend blood as to conceal any hint of their original material.

He delivers a warning to the guards, which is also echoed in a written report left with the officers.

Be advised; while we were out paroling the abyssal roads beyond the portal, two planewalkers and I encountered three massive contingents of fiends. One was baaetezu, the second ta'nari, and the third a collection of shadow fiends of some kind, led by a shadow dragon.

We only encountered the leaders of the shadow and tanari forces. The aforementioned dragon was slain by my companions and I as it engaged the tanari leader, a  Balor that, going by the size and demonstrations, must have been fairly old and powerful. After the dragon was slain, the demon lord flew off into the distance. We did not pursue, and so are unaware of its current status. Its remaining forces, however, were slain by us and the remnants of the other opposing forces.

We did not encounter the leader of the baatezu force. All we know is that they were hostile to both other fiend armies.

The three armies had gathered all the way from the edge of the "Crossroads", the bridges and up to the cavern entrance itself. We managed to eliminate all three forces before they could enter the cavern (thanks in part to their own infighting), but we cannot confirm that it was the last of them. For this reason, I advise the Harmonium to remain on alert and brace for a possible large scale attack.

Also note; the enemy forces were (in all three armies) -very- well equipped, and nearly all ranging from types 3-6 category fiends.

Sincerely,

Justice Dace Andor of the Mercykillers

The information is freely shared among the barracks and the guards stationed around the portal are doubled for the next few days.

Hograth will keep an eye on the portal and he writes a letter to his superiors suggesting to place guards at the doors leading from the courtyard into the main building as well as installing doors in the main hallway to make an infiltration of the barracks a bit more difficult.

After all regardless if you are invisible, shadowdancing or just very hard to see for a different reason a door opening should get the guards attention.
