An angry looking Dwarf slams a sealed envelope on to the front desk of the barracks.
When the letter finally makes its way to Charles it reads:
" I, Grag Kirs, Formally challenge the Harmonium Charles to honorable combat in the arena. The challenged has insulted the honor of a Dwarf of the Curz and is requested to answer for it in combat. Refusal to fight will be considered forfeit."

((ha ha.... gained a few levels now have you? And it was Factotum Charles... erm, and it's usually Charles on the desk where Grag is now - he he))
The on-duty Harmonium gives Grag a blank stare for a moment and then seems to recall something.
"Ah! The unlawful accusation of guilt! The wrong party, yes, several days ago in the Bazaar. The sting operation led by... who was it... ah, yes, Factotum Deneb. ((can't remember the name actually))
I'm sorry, but Factotum Charles is not available to answer your challenge. He is current doing penance in one of our fortresses in Arcadia where he will remain for a long time.
Is there anything else I can help you with?"

((Then there must have been another DM doing an event. Actually I only named my Factotum Charles because somebody mentioned it was the same model as for the on-duty harmonium in the Barracks. I should have used a different name really.))
The on-duty officer responds "If you want to see it like that. I'm sure Factotum Charles has other things on his mind right now than a challenge"

The officer shakes his head as the dwarf leaves and then sighs as he returns to his paperwork.
He reminisced about how much better things were not so long ago, when he could have told the dwarf to pike off or face a night in the cell. But no, these days the instructions were all about "working with the community" and "generating respect for the Harmonium". Keeping the peace is all well and good, but you have to crack a few heads from time to time just to make sure that people know who is in charge.
He looks at the arrest warrant in his hands. He needs to make copies and distribute to both Harmonium and Mercykiller officers. In a fit of pique he changes the wording on the warrant from "Arrest and Fine" to "Death".
"There! That will show them!" he thinks to himself.
