Hograth listens carefully to the quick briefing as as there are no questions he wants to ask right now he merely nods.

"I will be there.", he simply says and salutes to prepare himself.

He visits his wife to say good bye to her in person then readies his weapons and equipment- two bags of supplies, his falchion, axe and longsword, the dagger he carries and even his bow.
A stack of scrolls are sorted into a scroll case that has been warded against rain and heat and dust- some additional magic might prove useful to supplement his faint natural talents as a sorcerer.

He chooses his heavy armour and shield but also fits some enchanted leathers into his bags- just something in case he needs to move more freely or in case they want to infiltrate something- the spells bound to this armour giving him abilities he lacks.

A few apples he takes as well plis a small bag of selected chocolates find their way into his pockets- perhaps to trade or to just to enjoy in breaks.

Hearing of the Notaries who join this mission he allows himself a small smile- they will be an interesting group...

When the trio arrives they spots Mover O'Reily already waiting for them in the company of a tall but gaunt blond human. He seem a bit lost where he stands besides the older lady in his red field plate. He has only the most basic of equipment a scabbared sword dangling from his belt.

He doesn't speak when the group approches. Seemingly the shy sort. O'reily however Waves them over as soon as she spots them.

"Notary Cian here will take us to the releif fleet docked at the main docks back on Ortho." She would then teleport them from the docks in the astral if they had no objections.

((Have found no info on Ortho so I'll improvise a bit. Bear with me. ))

When they shifted out of the spell they found themselves in a bunker with a cuped celing, the room itself round. Those with high spellcraft would notice that the room itself was open to teleportion spells but a strong ani portal magic surrounded it. Behind a battlement they saw troops at guard ready to intercept any intruder. Even if a a large enough Group to fill the room entered it would stand little chance.

"Have documentaions ready to be checked. " They Heard a authoritarin voice calling out from a portcullis with a tunnel leading up behind the lowered grate. The blond trooper now took the initiative and approached and slid a set of papers through a slith at the side of the gate. Heavy ratteling was heard and then it open. He lead them through a long narrow tunnel. When they finally reached the end of it they found thelseves in a spacious complex humming of fans and ecoing with marching troops. It was over 20 meters to the roof. They quickly realised that the broad pathways surrounded by walls and ramps was designed for far larger companies than theirs. Getting a desolate feeling as they was led by the silent man. On other levels of the open space they could hear contingents march in the labyrint like cemented roads forming up to larger battalions. Eventually they reached a smaller war jammer fitted with protective platings and openings for spellsligers to use while protected. It floated by the pier it waddled gently as if on a calm sea but of course below was just emty air disapearing in a black pitch. Their guide would spare no time to get over the small bridge that led into the vessel. The space was very narrow as they entered it they had to duck and at times nearly crawl over pipes.

At last they reached the command bridge seeing the elderly commander gazing over the main deck with his hands clasp behind his back. The room was rather small and only contained a table with six chairs. At the far end from the door tey had just entered a glass wall was all that seperated them from the main deck it ran over them in a dome shape. He turned around saluting O'reily then expecting the others to salute him as was due to his rank. Gesturing to the chairs he bid them all to take a seat. A half a globe was placed on the table. " Mover One Christos welcome you to Ortho and the Crimson Skystrider. I will be the commander of this mission. A full briefing is in order. Confusion and doubt in troops is the trait of a bad commander. But first I would like to hear of your skills and combat roles."

Notary IV Eversong took the initiative this time around, finding an opportunity to speak freely to be the calming experience she desperately needed, as the inhumane complex they just passed through was clearly not what she had in mind when signing up.

"Notary IV Ny'leve Eversong reporting for Duty, sir!" She said with a salute as she stepped forward, her one good eye focusing on the elderly commander. "As an Initiate of Ilmater, I have taken the role of Field Medic to heart, priding myself at making sure every man or woman under my command will make it through the mission we were given. If needed, I can call down the Maimed One's blessings or purifying wrath, perform life-saving surgery in roughly any conditions and dabble in the alchemical arts. But I will let my track-record be the final judge on the matter." She nodded and stepped back, allowing her comrades to do much the same.

Should her record be glanced at, it'd indeed confirm what she just said: over the course of seventy-odd patrols she took part in, no one died under her watch. It is also revealed that she has not yet had any confirmed kills in any operation, preferring to perform her duties as peacefully as possible, using non-lethal means should the need ever arise. However, her arrest record is below average, giving rise to rumors that she'd rather let small-time crooks and misguided youth go and redeem themselves, than subjecting them to the traumas of the Prison.

((very good description of this fortress btw))

It is the first time Hograth visited a base like this and while he has heard of their existance, even studied some of them during his training seeing something like this is a very different experience.

He carries his bags and weapons over his shoulder, looking around to get his bearings, watching the troopers move around.

Military bases are a curious thing and once you know one you can navigate others of the same army with greater ease- but the vastness of this complex still baffles the half orc. He goes last in their group- a habit he developed recently, this position allowing him to keep an eye on the troopers, to keep the group together while the higher ranked officer leads them

Staying back he sets his bags down at the door before approaching Chistos after Ny' has finished.

"Hograth Thorn, Measure III. Trained as Heavy infantry and shock trooper, recently assigned as a troop leader in several operations."

His records will show he has been involved in many operations- from police work like solving minor crimes in Sigil over heavy combat duty on several planes to high profile faction operations- his most important deed so far was getting a whole prime under Harmonium protection.

While he follows orders once given is is not afraid to voice his opinions and even challenge a superiours decision- but it has always been done subtly and never on the battlefield.
In battle he is known to listen to his troopers but to decide himself and so far he never shied away from taking the responsibility for his decisions- be they good or bad.

O'Reily handed Christos a bundle of documents which he skimmed through then placed it on the table. "Field medic. You'll be greatly appriciated among the troopers." His fair brown hazel eyes now scuntinised Hograt from sabatons to bevor. "You'll learn a thing or two from the Rear Guards." He wavered his hand over the three feet in diameter globe and it flashed alive with varigated bright colours until it showed a map on it's formerly obsidian like hue. The Picture revealed a mountainous area with snowclad peaks and mountain lakes. With Christos handgestures it zoomed in on a spot between two mountain ranges. With a long passage running in awix them. It was a juncture at the narrowest gap by a bridge and two castles at either sides of it built into the rock. It was the perfect location to control the entire area. Like all mountain ranges however it was poor farmland and sustenance had to be brought in from elsewhere.

"The fortress are being evecuated. We have thee Type IV class freighters we need to load with Equipment and troops. There is no way to do this from the air directly from the fortifications. We will have to make make our landing here." He pointed at the area where the bridge was situated. "We have five war jammers set on the task to puncture a hole in their siege and take defensive positions between the forts in the pass. I've calculated taht we need to hold it for roughly two full days to load the freighters and see them safely lift off and make planeshift." It would occur to them why the rear guard had been assigned to this as pulling out the remaning warships would be extremely difficult. He lifted his gaze with a serious expression looking at each of them as if to see if there was any questions so far.

Hograth takes a few notes but does not yet ask anything, letting the briefing go on. He has questions but it is not yet time for them.

The aasimar politely asked, whilst flipping through the mission files. "Will we prioritize the injured and civilian populace first?"

If they had Shana's dossier she would have likely been affected as the Disciplinary Officer, or Commissar, like they used to call them sometimes. Otherwise she would have simply volunteered as such, sternly listening to the whole conversation taking mental notes before she dared to raise her hand and politely waited to ask her question.

The stern faced commander looked at Eversong. And the reply was swiftly deliverd without a pause. "The injured will be brought aboad first followed by the troops stationed there. Our own will be the last to board the warships with the freighters airborn at that stage. I have no reports of any civilians." For the first time the commander seemed to be ponderous. Stroking his beard once. "I expect there will be unaffiliated personel within the fortresses."

He continued the briefing. "The besieging force consist of an alliance of local tribes. A orchish hord and all axulilires that comes with them. And the strongest threat the clergy nation to the north. The Xvimites."

The halforc looks up from his notes now, clears his throat.

"Those Xvimites- what do we have to expect? How much arcane or divine support do they have?

What is the status of our defences and how many supplies does the defenders we have left?"
