"They seem twisted. Something warped them- or they are bred like this for some purpose."
He readies his Falling Star, shooting a volley of fiery arrows at the closes giant, watching the squad commanders leading their units.
Of course he lets them do their job, only interfering when necessary.
Sacrifice!

"Close the formations! Be mindful of Flankers!"
He shouts instructions, informs the troopers of the weakneses of those attackers, trying to get those squads with effective weapons to cover those that are helpless.
Lacking any other options he keeps shooting with his bow, hoping to at least distract some of the creatures to give the troopers a chance to slay them. He shouts to the mages and priests to create some dimensionally locked areas the troopers can use as a ralleypoint.
Retreating is no option, not this time. There is nowhere they can run and knowing about their abilities Hograth realizes that fighting them would even be worse in the swamp.

They see the troops close in on the center abandoning their positions it is unclear whom started perhaps a strayed bolt or a intentionally placed tourch. It but a rappindly spreading fire start to consume the hulls of the small vessels creating a ring of flames around them.
The priests invokes the spell as fast as they heard the order but it was too late while some was stopped as a shimmering field surrounded them a large number of the distorted figures had already appeared engaging the closest troopers. Their armour and weapory is far better than what would be expected from a normal troll hord. Falcions and halfplates the most common. The largest of them comes charging at the half orc rearing a huge warmace.

//Unfortunately my exams meant I couldn't muster the energy to reply, but if you don't mind giving us some hook, like our PCs' lifeboat had landed somewhere off course (meaning they're delayed from the current events), we'd definetly try and link up this time; and yes, IG is preffered.

Hograth curses inwardly and holding his bow in one hand he draws his flaming sword with the ither to meet the creature's furious assault.
He still shouts commands, tries to keep the troopers organized, to keep their defence as effective as possible. There is nowhere to run, a retreat would scatter his troopers all over he unknown, hostile swamps where they would be easy prey for their more mobile and stronger opponents.
Slashing at the creature in front of him he tries to rally his troops to push through the enemy, force them against the flames in a last attempt to drive them off.

These men moves qucikly and arranges themselves faster then most elite regiments. Closing gaps and switching positions in their formation. It does not take long before the creatures who manage to teleport found themselves between a wall of fire at their backs and a hedge of shields and halberds infront of them.
Hograth manage to land a heavy stroke at the troll cleaving open a furrow in it's thick breastplate spewing black blood over him which seeps through his armour burning as fire. Poision no doubt as even the hotest of flames cannot harm him due to his heritage. From above he sees the warmace speeding down at him.
The others seem to gain ground as they outnumber the foes pushing them nearer and nearer the blazing boats.
((Fortitude please. And I'll Think of something Tom.))

He curses and spits, gripping the flaming blade with his gauntlet, trying to block the swing with the strenght of the blade, catching the mace close to his weapon's crossguard. Turning aside he tries to use the momentum to hit the troll's face with his elbow, putting all his strenght into that blow.
Fighting the effects of that poison he grits his teeth but seeing the troopers push back the attackers he allows himself a wolfish smile as he tries to press his attack, tries to slay or drive off his opponent.

It stings and bores into his skin feeling his skin being corroded and the cold metal pressing against his naked flesh. But other ill effects the black ooze carried with it in its stream was shrugged off.
There was a heavy impact as the mace met the blade the blade flexing violently and giving way to the hefty stroke despite the perfect parry. The Measure himself sinking ankles deep into the soft ground. The blade tossed at either side a human could never had manage to hold on to it but he was far stronger directing his vampbrace at the creatures head he fractured it feeling his arm crushing the bone and poping an eye out which dangled from an long eyestalk reeling back from the punch. The mace crashed into the turf an buried its head in it his foe losing his grip on the weapon. He could not move his feet he realised as the creature leaped at with its black long claws reaching for his head but it was stopped mid air as pikes was driven into it by the men at his side. With a deafening roar the huge troll pushed them back. His eye fixed on Hograth the trolls face restructured itself coming closer as the men holding the pikes glode across the turf failing to get any footing.

He tries to free himself but does not try to avoid the creature, meeting it, a heavy, armoured hand shooting forward, grabbing the creature's throat- the half orc putting all his strenght into this grip.
His muscles are tensing and he growls, the battle and the threat against his men and his life causing his blood to boil, the dragon and the orc that are slumbering under the surface unleashed.
Perhaps his blade cannot really harm this creature but he can drown it in the water and turf or just throttle it with his hands.
He has beaten up bigger opponents barehanded before- and now he is cornered, and very angry.
((Rolled a STR check for him 18+15 for a total of 33. Screeny available. If you need more rolls please say :) ))

Little did he care for stench that blew against him as the huge black gape of a maw closed in on his own head in a seranade reselbeling that of a thousand terribly tuned thrumpets, the half orc stemming the air flow with his steel grip. The creatures skin is tough as cured leather more so than a mountain trolls hide. Fine scales as a fiends strengthened it further. His hadn glode upwards towards the two and a half foot long head. Misbegotten horn growth rended his hands faling to get a grip until his fingers manage to dig in underneath a custer of misgrown scales they penetrated the flesh and sank for their full lenght into it. Feeling the hot flesh and not long after the burning sensation of the acidic blood. Streamlets poured from the holes his fingers had pricked up the trolls troath leaked like a perforated bucket spilling on the ground and on him discolouring the crimson armour to a tary brown hue sizzeling and fuming. Feeling the regenerating flesh cramming his finger tighter and tighter as they dissolved. But he managed to halt the advancement its massive legs shovling up furrows of peat as they futilely dug into it like a wheel spinning without getting a grip but the force they both produced agaisnt each other dorve them both deeper. The men behind himholding the pikes struggled with keeping the creature back. Two more came hacking at the huge Black Troll with their halberds managing to injur it further, after a strenuous chopping tone of them managed to sever its right arm from its shoulder. It continued to grip and rake feriously in the watery turf like a floundering eel. It happen suddenly and the trooper soon found himself being strangled by the detached limb falling with a splash into a pit in the peat with shallow water dropping his weapon and clasping the trolls black arm as he wrestled with it laying on his back with his head half below the surface.
Drowing it seemed the most feasible option but the creature was strong very strong but as was Hograth. Could he make it? Or would it be him that would die grasping for air? He knows that the lungs will only cease to function for a time and the creature can't be permanently killed by drowing. A hard decision but time was pressing.
((Let me have another fortitude and another strenght if he tries to pull it down! ))
