His hardy body saved him from any serious effects and his resistence stalled the acidic blood from melting him away completly. But even with his constitution his vison convulsed, it was hard to focus as all he saw span around slowly, sunk and wexed. Inhaling the fumes of the boiling blood filled him with a strong nausea. He was weakned but so was his advisary. In his grip he felt he was the stronger.

He realizes he cannot let this going on- sooner or later he will lose this struggle as his opponent's power will not wane like his own.

Pressing his advantage while he still can he tries pulls the creature closer, and taking a deep breath he unleashes his breath weapon at this creature at pointblank range- letting the fire of his fury and anger eat away the rotting flesh, hoping that this might be enough to defeat this opponent.

Quickly he tries to push the remains backwards hoping to have bought his soldiers enough time to destroy this most dangerous foe. The Half Orc's body is aching and while the beast he keeps leased deep inside him enjoyed the violance and this most primeval test of brutal strenght against strenght he know well there there is much more at the stake.

The creatrue surprised of this movement fell forward as it kept pushing. His unleased firestorm sprayed directly at the Troll its matted hair caught fire first then his skin began to crack, tearing up long furrows leaking the oily blood. All he sees for a while is a black silhouette fully surrounded by a bright flame reeling back futilely whisking at his body. Pushing him the massive body lost footing and stumbled backwards. The troopers wasted no time to exploit it, they pushed the troll infront of them while the fire travelled from the burning body along the wooden shafts of their pikes and halberds snf didn't stop until they had droven it into the burning circle of boats. As more soldiers streamed to aid them having vanqished most of the lesser trolls. It struggles yet eventually it falls to the fire disappearing from sight.

The trooper wrestling with the detached limb lies still with only his legs and arms sticking up abouve the water as two comrades pull the burning arm free it is reduced to cinders as they held it. Proof that the troll was indeed dead.

Remaining troops quickly take positions and the outer ring again knowing there is more of them out there even if the sounds of huge bodies wading through water indicated they were leaving the Rearguards remained prepared for another onrush but all was still the crackling fire all that was heard, the entire swamp seemed to have been silenced.

Half buried in the mire he felt two armoured arms seizing him from either side pulling him up. Cian and the fellow officer he recognised.
"Maintain positions while tending the critically wounded!"

He spots several of the scouts standing with the guards.

He does not celebrate this victory not does he try to clean himself yet- there are more pressing matters that need his attention. Nodding a silent thanks to the men who helped him he makes his way to the scouts, wiping away what blood and mud clings to his face while dong so.

"What have you found? Do we have a position? A direction?"

They spoke of several areas and features of the land they explored. The northern group being the ones who attracted the trolls unintentionally. With the report the men gave he was able to locate them on his map.

((Didn't figure out how to make an overview with the mapmaker. The interiors and smaller areas should be better though. Had to resort to colour codes. Dark grey: high mountains. Light grey: lower mountains. Dark green dense forest on high ground. Lighter green: forest. Orange: grass plain. The yellowish green: swamp. Hopes its understandable enough, not happy with it but here it goes.))

He talks to the scouts, asks them about the terrain, verifies the directions given by them. But he realizes they must head north- and they need to do so fast. There is fresh water ahead and the swamp should end as well.

Approaching Cian he says: "We should get ready to move out. We cannot stay here, we carry the wounded if we have to. Gather all supplies we can salvage.. we head north, towards the Fortress of Jacal. It is a long way.. but we will prevail and the swamp should end soon."

The scouts disclose that the area nearer the plain to the east is more approachable than the dense forest surrounding the direct path to the fortress.

Cian scratches his head with his loaded crossbow. "Prepare litters we are moving out! Northward!"

The troops craft litters from withes with surprising speed. Hauling the wounded to them. Forming up at two lines to either side of the men carrying the injured. Two larger cotingents went ahead of them as vanguards. One took the rear.

The deep red line along the horizon foretold the rising sun. Still dark however as they waded through the deep morass in god order despite the difficult terrain. They passed patches of high trees and grass growth but for the most part they was hips deep in the marsh.

At some point during the journey they start to get the feeling of them being stalked. Further North the marshland darkens into a mist enshrouded fen. The water is muddy and the peat blackish. The fog lay thick and heavy. Corpses are impaled on pikes and crucified on the trees. Head and limbs smissing on some corps others mutilated beyond what was recognisable as once having been human beings. Xvimites by the looks of it still having the white hand on their black armours.

Hograth heard shouting from the front men.
"Halt!" Thereafter there was a series of thuds from firing crossbows and swift feets flee through the terrain. The men didn't give chase nor broke formations.
