Hograth curses under his breath as he sees their guide moving- but it makes sense, the man has long abandoned the Harmonium ways, forgotten how it is to work as a unit.

"Don't shoot." He whispers, gestures, hoping the soldiers understand him, hping to stop them from killing the guide. Knowing that his plan has been compromised now he then gestures to the other troopers to advance and to quickly seize the riders.

Reckless perhaps but he found that the guide was far from foolish, he had not survived alone for so long if he had not been cunning enough to aviod the enemy and outsmart them countless of times. At the bank he had advanced to a hedge of rosehips.

They had to advance undetected for a ten yards or more or the riders would simply mount up and take flight.

Realizing what the man did he gestures to some troopers to follow him- the Measure knowing well that stealth was not one of his own strenghts.

Yet he tries to stay close enough to still give commands, relying on hand signals if possible, waiting patiently to get the troops in position to strike.

((Sorry for the stalling. I'll speed up. ))

Three men advanced after having doffed some of their armour leaving it behind as they moved forward tree by tree until they was just behind their guide laying on his belly covered by the thorny bushes. Cian being with them he looked back at Hograth making the following figurative handgestures: A svan? next he pointed at his own chest. He repeated this three times before he rolled over on his stomach and pointed his crossbow.

He heard the troops he didn't see moving closer to him. An occatinal snapping twig or metal grinding or bumping against stone. It was time. The three riders were all Close by the bonfire they had made. Smokesignals no doubt as there was no other reason to use the wood they did. One sat by the fire another watched into the forrest and the third had his back turned againt them looking skywards over the lake.

He interpret Cian's gestures as: We cover the giant eagels, leaving Hograth to deal with the dismounted riders. Large trees with widely stretching thick roots infront of them. A disorderdly charge with bolts flying hither and thither would likely accidently kill the riders and have their own men hurt in the proccess especially the men asigned to the mounts.

((Hah! Almost got it right. I had it as we kill the Eagles first, then go for the riders. Good Hograth rolled higher than I did :P ))

A few whispers, some hand signals. He quickly instructs his troopers to engange the opponents in melee, attacking from the flank.

He knows he will have to move through the woods to achieve that but as it is now the eagles are between them and the men they want to capture.

Several signals are folowing and he tries to let Cian know that he shall be ready to put down the eagels just before they attack- and then, after the first volley hold fire.

This way he hopes to take out some of the birds and also distract the riders enough for the Hardheads who rush into melee to get the upper hand.

They made charged. Twigs snapped and they made loose stones tumble into the slopes in their onrush. On the run they fired one volly as they reached firing range then slung their corssbows on their backs drawing their swords. Having left their polearms on their former position.

Cian, their guide and an additional trooper assaulted the eagles as they Heard the charge being initiated. The wildman leaped at the first mount with his dirk. Cian and the trooper shot with their crossbows. Rushing in to join the melee as firing more bolts would put their guide at risk. witht he mounts even though they were tethered they was still far from harmless.

The riders was taken with the unison attack on two fronts and while only seconds was won they counted greatly. The man handling the smoke signals at the fire was pierced with bolts in his back and fell forward. The two that remained hasted together the leader rose a protective aura around them making the bolts steer away and splash into the lake behind them. Casting a wall of flame at the treeline the pair awaited them behind the flames with weapons drawn.

The ornamentations of the leaders armour marked him as a high-ranking Xvimite. A horned black helmet. The leather armour was perfectly fitted to his limbs and was largely covered with a vast array of diffrent black furs. The white hand of Xvim leaming through the billowin flames.
